Psychiatric disorders

You think that's a very insightful question, don't you? For future reference, that kind of shit can be pretty unhealthy for severely depressed people to hear.

Also, I'm unable to prove that, but plenty of reserach indicates depression is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. My dad has it, his mom has it, and likely their parents and grandparents. My dad is a bright person, as am I, but so is my mother and half a dozen comparably intelligent people I know and I, the one with a family history, am the odd one out on being fucking bummed all the time. So I'm pretty confident my chronic depression is genetics-based rather than some pseudo-intellectual, self-important conjecture that I'm just wiser or more aware than everyone else.

what is an appropriate chemical balance in your brain

I'm well aware of that. If I didn't have family I'd have killed myself already because I'm quite confident the world is just a shitty place. Hell, I'm not even sure the idea of the brain malfunctioning is compatible with the existence of free will or qualia.

One which will allow me to get out of bed without significant struggle in the morning, to shower at least every other day, to enjoy things like I used to, to read a book for more than 5 minutes, to not go into a panic when confronted with some vague threat of everyday germs. I could go on. That's more from the perspective of the difficult times but dysthymia and low-grade anxiety is my status quo and I have a hard time imagining life without it.

It probably isn't. But we know for a fact one exists, while the other has been a common point of debate for centuries, if not millennia. I'm not good with philosophy.

fuck yourself weakling

that doesnt answer my question

what is an appropriate chemical balance in the brain

whatever Chad/Beta Pajeet have is considered ok in Porkydom

I'm not a scientist, but there's a chemical balance that allows people to do basic, everyday tasks without getting exhausted. That's what I want. I don't have precise numbers or ratios to give you, only outcomes of those.

scientism

Probably the best way to look at it is that the medication actually makes the world a better place for you.
