How can you just make the blanket statement "aluminium is effective"?
It is only effective if it is thick enough.
The frequency varies with the height, I've seen it quoted as low as 1khz.

Taking aluminium as the shield and designing to cover 1KHz, you end up with a skin depth of 5mm; effective shielding requires several skin depths,
Just to add, obviously it's better to use foil than nothing, you might be far enough away that it makes the difference, but don't assume your shit is protected with just aluminium foil because it probably isn't.
Better would be to fabricate a steel box to store spares.
