its primary appeal, whats kept it going for 4 iterations (5 if you count bloodborne, 9 if you count king's field) is its unwillingness to treat the player like a child. No handholding, no obvious solutions, no objective arrows, no "fair and balanced" encounters. The game is trying to kill you and that is truly a refreshing change of pace.

The thing is, almost all games in king's field times were like that.

Its not about "no handholding".

Its just about not being modern.
