Friend bought 3 different VR headsets

i think on some level gogglefags know its bunkum, they just want their dive gear VR fantasy to happen so badly they buy into these virtual boy headset monitors.

Its a little sad really.

and all they'll get to play is walking simulators and untranslated loli rape games, after shutting down head tracking after 5 minutes before you puke from such immersive experience

Just think of all the money wasted worldwide on these things.

How many videogames could have been purchased instead?

Lack of tactile response kills any motion controls. It ruined sword combat in Skyward Sword and it's ruining recoil in gogglegames. The only advantage I can think of is if you live in an absolute shithouse and you want to use the VR to create a different environment to game in, but even then you're better off using your time and money to improve your situation instead of wallowing in shit while pretending to be in fairy land.

Faggot who hasn't even tried them detected.

In before I get responses from anons who think you have to actually buy these things in order to have tried them.

Porn

What? Skyward Sword isn't about fencing, you just slash in the direction that will hurt the enemy, how the fuck was that ruined by lack of tactile response?

Vr is the future of immersion for some types of games, that's fucking undeniable.

But the launch was rushed and it has absolutely nothing to stand on as of now.

How are the googlies as a monitor, is it a valid alternative?

It is the future op, you are just too stupid to understand. VR is in its infancy, the "VR" in the late 80's was not true vr but monitors glued to your face of 2d games.

as viable as those "technogloves" idiots tried to replace their mouse with a few years back. Theres a reason monitors are still the default.

It's just I want a big screen but my room setup wont allow it, thought getting those screens all up in my face would work similar

Reminder that all modern VR games are about standing still.

They don't even let you walk with joystick.

only the western ones. Japanese ones seem to be going all out if you've been paying any attention.

I believe the excuse they are pushing is 'turretshooter is a new genre, and thats okay'

What's funny that they will never be as good as House of the Dead 1&2.

it's fucking ancient. Arcades were filled to the brim with them

Because that would be too difficult for the audience they're trying to target

At least the fedora crowd buying these can suffer like G did.

The problem is the disconnect between what your body does and what happens on screen. When your blow is deflected by the enemy, your hand is in one direction and Link is flailing completely differently on screen, and then when the animation catches up it doesn't always sync correctly to the current position of the wii remote. Assuming that problem becomes a non issue, the fact remains there is no tactile feedback to say whether you actually "hit" anything because there's nothing to hit.

Shit will suck until at least we get some kind of exosuit that responds to in-game events and modifies movement to provide said feedback. Until then the immersive VR experience is going to be about as immersive as anything can be without fucking touching anything

The bouncing off is a non issue and I don't ever recall that de-syncing my controller, but I remember this shit would happen with the beetle sometimes but you can solve that by recalibrating the controller which you can do at any time.

I don't understand why this is so terrible. Ocarina of time did not have tactile feedback, but the swordplay is fine there. Of course this would be a big problem in something like VR since it's meant to be much more immersive, but Skyward Sword is just not meant to be as an immersive experience as you seem to think it should be.

How is everyone fucking up VR development so badly? The only thing getting made is casual shovelware, but the majority of casuals aren't going to spend $800+ on a headset. It seems like a no brainer that if you want people to buy VR, you need to target the audience that builds quad SLI PCs with custom water loops, not the audience that things the Wii is the greatest gaming platform ever.

What does this buzzword even mean?

it means that you feel "pulled" into the gameworld. games with good atmosphere can do this, games with bad atmosphere/writing/design can't.

Yeah that sounds like some autistic shit

Escapism

VR is the future.

But it ins't the future so it's shit right now. The technology to make it meaningful is far off from being affordable to the average consumer.

But VR is actually an interesting technology, what we define as shit it's how they're using it, because they have to cater to casuals to make money.
I guess that in a few years, if VR survives that is, we'll se good games finally be made and the headsets will be really cheap by then.
Nowadays the only way to try it and not be a fucking faggot is making one yourself using your phone as the screen.

OP, you really are your own stereotype.
