Barbie got a bad rap. Yeah 'unrealistic body proportions' but to such a degree that criticisms are just as valid about Minnie Mouse or Mrs. Packman not having realistic body proportions.
And outside of that. There was Dr. Barbie, Astronaut Barbie, Homemaker Barbie, and literally hundreds more. Which resulted in the perception of 'oh, barbie can be anything' which is a way better way of promoting young girls to see that they can do whatever they want.
But no, a bunch of fat, ugly women got their rotten overies in a twist that a female look good and went after the Barbie brand so hard that it could actually be a factor as to why so many young women are so quick to adopt what they are told to think. They wanted to play barbies, but then their parents came up and screamed 'no! that is bad! you believe this!' in what might be the most widespread, socially acceptable form of child abuse in history… well american history.
Sad to see the brand have to chase a controversy.
