I am angry. ANGRY ABOUT THE DISSOLUTION OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
Major point: jealousy. When people hear the word "jealous", most, being stupid and illiterate, think of "envious." In reality, jealousy is the polar opposite of envy. "Jealous" is related to the word "zeal" and "zealous," hence in Spanish "celoso" = jealous or zealous.
Why does this matter? Lets look at hypothetical example.
Envy is covetously desiring another man's wife. We'll say Chad is envious of his neighbor Matthew's wife, so Chad goes behind Matthew's back and sleeps with his neighbor's wife. Matthew is moved by jealousy and beats Chad dead. Who is justified?
Most nu-males and women would say that Matthew shouldn't have killed Chad and that he was just jealous, as if jealousy were a bad thing, since jealousy is just like envy, right?
WRONG.
Jealousy means zealously defending what belongs to you, and jealousy was traditionally viewed as a GOOD thing, hence the description of the Christian God as a "jealous God."
Political context: When strangers are pouring into your land and raping your women, you SHOULD feel jealous; however, since jealousy has been deemed somehow shameful and the mark of an inferior man, people shy away from such feelings. The word JEALOUS needs to be FORCEFULLY RECLAIMED; we are JEALOUS MEN, who WILL NOT SPARE IN THE DAY OF VENGEANCE (Proverb 6:34)
Do give you an idea of what I mean, jealousy = protecting whats yours, envy = desiring what belongs to someone else. The two have been conflated. Imagine if the word "defense" were conflated with the word "offense," and "defense" was defined as "aggressive acts of violence towards others." Now the concept of self-defense would seem shameful and wrong; this is actually whats happening.
More support: in Spanish, the word for jealous = celoso. The word celoso is translated as jealous or zealous. Hence we can see the etymological meaning of "jealous" as distinct from envy and closer to the word "zealous," which in my understanding is the reciprocation of jealousy. If a man is jealous of his wife, then his wife should be zealous in her loyalty to him.
Any other examples of language being perverted?
