Dark Souls 3 General

Check out this handy AR calculator. It's only reliable for uninfused weapons, though.

is this game the sequel i actually wanted from dark 2

is it worth finally upgrading my computer for this shit

this is Demon souls 2 not dark souls 3

...

but i saw dark souls 1 as the sequel to demon's souls

it fixed having to go back to the maiden in black every time you wanted to level up and let you use the bonfires instead

when BEARER OF TH CURS' lady appeared in 2 it was a step back

I still think demon's souls is better in many respects though, dark was just much more refined

Remember how people would say Dark Souls 2 wasn't nearly as good as Dark Souls, but was still a good game? As someone who hated Dark Souls 2, those are statements that I think can be applied to Dark Souls 3. You do have to warp to the hub to level up, though. There are a few things that are definitely reminiscent of Demon's Souls, but calling it Demon's Souls 2 seems stupid to me.

...

You don't get warp at the start do you?

Also as great as the nexus was i think the hubworld idea is something from only got right in dark 1. Firelink shrine was grand.

Hope they've got a good new one if i gotta be warping there ruining my flow every half hour

Majula was garbage although i liked the well

Dark Souls 3 has warp from the start. Although there's not much nonsensical stuff, like active volcanoes levitating in the sky, it is fairly obvious that a good portion of the areas in the game were pasted together after being created. Do not expect any decent interconnectivity. I still miss it. After Dark Souls, I was longing for a game that required almost no warping at all. I know it's possible, but for whatever reason From decided not to try.

bollocks i was hopin they would pull it back

what does rosaria do with all those tongues?

lick her clit

the dancer is fucking me so hard and i can't summon anyone

any easy way to kill him ?

I stood between it's legs and took out a huge portion of the health bar, so you could try that.

Idk if you guys have tried it yet but, Anri's Straight Sword is fucking strong. Very little investment for the returns. 10 STR 10 DEX 40 LUCK get you 457 AR. That's on par with the Dark Sword for half the investment.

Hug her cooch

Why did they fuck up poise so much?

Stay behind him.

Weapon balance in this game is just fucked. I'm considering buying a bloodborne machine now.

The Chaos Blade sucks in this game. Even at 60 Dex, it's only barely stronger than the Washing Pole.

The Cathedral Knight Greatsword is a hidden Gem

The rolling L1's for the Gotthard Twinsword and the Drang twinspears are SO FAST, that parrying them doesn't even begin to show the attack animation. You have to parry before the attack comes out, and the animation won't even start; they will be in a riposte stance instantly.

Don't buy a PS4 unless you also want to play Nier: Automata
The weapon balance is indeed, incredibly fucked up. I'd argue saying that small weapons are so strong because hyper armor is so strong on large weapons. Yet, why the hell are spears, greatswords, katanas (other than Washing Pole), Great Hammers, Maces, and Axes so fucking weak?
Why the fuck does a 3 unit straight sword get more AR than a fucking huge axe that weighs 7 units?
Why are katana's the only weapons with shit R2's?
Why the hell does the Zweihander out damage the Great Club?

Unless you're talking about Bloodlust which is inarguably shit.

In my experience you can hit someone twice with a longsword and rolldodge before they can get their great weapon hit in. Wish woosh roll. Repeat until dead.

Honestly, no. You're not missing much.

Dark damage, bleed.

B-Team is B-Team even with Miyazaki at the helm.

When a feature is entirely stripped from a game, I would sooner blame Bamco.

Fucking B-Team.

I remember seeing an interview with Miyazaki and he mentioned having to rein the team in and strike a balance between difficult and "unreasonable".

I think at some point very late during development they realized that the game was really, really easy with how tight the hitboxes are on most enemies (shit like the archdragon peak wyvern stomps are still fucking AIDS and seem straight out of DaS 2), and decided that disabling poise was the easiest way of making PVE even remotely challenging.

This game is fucking amazing.
It's easily the best in the franchise, and even after I've done everything I just can't stop.
I played shitton of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 on both PS3 and PC, and DS3 outshines them both combined.
Buy it, pirate it, get ps4 for it, whatever, I think every sentient person out there has to at least try it.
DS3 is one of the best games in history.

It certainly has the best combat in the series, but until the DLC comes out I can't say that overall it's better than DaS which was just fucking perfect with oolacile.

It was still the first Souls game that I actually felt motivated enough to 100% instead of just making a new build instead of going through NG+, so there's that.

Wew, I'm only 24hrs in to my goal of staying up for 72hrs and I'm already getting pretty fucking incoherent.

Shit has zero replayability. It was fun the first go around, but seriously there's hardly any reason to keep playing until the DLC comes out. Magic and pyromancy builds are the most boring shit, poise isn't a thing, and the NPC plotlines are the least interesting ever.

Even fucking Memeborne had better replayability.

Bloodborne's is even worse.

...

Yea, you're getting slightly unhinged it seems. :^)

I think "zero replayability" is a bit hyperbolic, but the fact that all magic is shit and all roads lead to Quality is disappointing.

At least the infusion system allows for some excellent weapon variety.

It was basically paid "we're sorry for Izalith" statement.
None of the vanilla DS3 areas felt bad or unfinished to me, while apart from Izalith DS1 has super lame ash lake, terrible jumping puzzle called Great Hollow and overall weak final area.

While I acknowledge that DS3 has less content, than your average souls game, quality of said content is top notch.
Sure there are downides like anti-consumer policies, inability to deal with hackers and the whole poise fuck up, but EVEN DESPITE THOSE this is one great game.

So yeah, it would be better to probably pirate it, to not support this bullshit, but it was already a financial success, so only care about your personal enjoyment, and play this shit however you want.

Not really, it's better to pirate it, because whoever is responsible for presenting product to the audience did absolutely terrible job.

Replayabilty comes mostly from PvP for a lot of people.

Just got a sunlight medal after invading and killing a guy, wtf?

I'm steamrolling pretty much everything with 30ATN/50INT and spamming CSS. For everything else, there's Spook/Hidden Body and the CB@40DEX.
Granted, I'm only in NG+, and wearing both the Crown and that 1.25x Ring.

prepare to get one shot by bone dust cannons and completely ignore half the weapons even though they're fun.

Nigger what do you have against ash lake? It was exactly what it was supposed to be. The Great Hollow is also only a puzzle if you're autistic about getting everything. I gotta concede the Kiln was disappointing, but at least they fucking tried, Kiln of the first flame in DS3 is literally just a walkway to the boss with no enemies.

Son, I think you're still caught up in release hype. The game is very flawed.

Oh come on user. Besides poise being fucked, the weapon variety is great, the movesets are great, the hitboxes are (for the most part) dead on, enemy variety is good, enemy tracking feels on par with what you can do instead of stupid shit like DaS2 360 instant laser tracking, and combat flows fast enough to feel really fresh.

If there's one thing DaS3 got right, it's the (melee) combat.

It starts off really strong with High Wall, Undead Settlement, Crucifixion Woods, Farron Keep and Cathedral, and then just shits the bed with the Catacombs, Demon Ruins, Irithyll Dungeon, Lothric Castle and the Archives. Archdragon Peak being as good as it is also just reinforces how shitty the other areas are.

I think the level design is easily DS3's weakest point, but with 4 DLCs on the way I'm sure they can somewhat fix that.

You can farm sunlight medals through invasions as a sunbro.

Unfortunately doesn't even come close to 40str/40dex or 40str/40dex/40luck w/ hollow and carthus rouge DPS for NG+ and beyond.

Maybe I expect too much, but I'd like Sorceries and Pyromancy to be at least half as strong as they were in DaS.

Aesthetically? It's perfect.
Gameplay-wise it's just a huge plain walkway. What the shit?
Of course I am.

"Final dungeon" thing in DS3 were Archives, not the kiln, unlike DS1.

They were MUCH better.
At least it's not annoying to retread said areas, unlike DS1 ones, where it's a chore every time.

There is no weapon OR move variety. Every weapon class feels the same and has the same moveset except for maybe switching R1 and R2 occasionally. Use one straight sword, congrats you've used them all.

I hope one of the DLC's adds a huge Izalith chunk that doesn't suck

Huge dissapointment.

All that dungeon buildup for fucking nothing

Why choose the most boring vanilla weapon type to complain about? Go use the Gotthard Twinswords if you want a fun and interesting straight sword.

...

The more I think about it the more it makes sense.

i need to find patches its the only npc left that has embers for sale, also i need to do a bit of jolly coop so i can have enough of them
i have mad OCD with embers, effigies or humanities, its like i REALLY need them

who is she and is there porn of her

You can farm them off mobs you know.
They're much easier to acquire than humanities or effigies.

Is there any reason at all to play anything besides a quality build with a straight sword? The level design and enemies are great but holy fuck this game is broken as shit.

There really really isn't. You can do perfectly, and I mean perfectly, fine by just playing the Knight class and only bumping Str/Dex and Vigor.

You don't even need to fucking switch armors.

I don't get this whole complaining about thrusting and straight swords.
If your opponent is spamming - parry him.
If he's playing cautiously, he won't dish out too much damage anyway.
And you ALWAYS get an action window after two received hits. So either parry or block or roll out.

I hope none of you are cast fags

So, what's even the deal with the Dark Sword?
I haven't really been paying attention to the community since I didn't want to have anything spoiled, but it seems everybody and their mom are running around with one of those.

POISE IS COMING BACK

broken scaling.

...

she starts her ultra combo with a really obvious windup, don't try to roll around it, just run away until it's finished. pretty much everything else you can just roll roll then combo

Maybe some end too. No Vit though, because armor is fucking useless.

I'm just bitching that there is only one real build in this game right now.

It has really good scaling, also i hear it has a bigger hit box than most long swords.

So being the best of the best weapon class fucking everyone uses it. I almost never see people trying to use huge weapons or gimmick weapons anymore because dark sword out damages them.

I went kinda blind so not really sure on which mobs? I did read about Patches having a few on them but i have yet to find him
So which mobs? Thanks in advance

I actually enjoyed anal rodeo 2.0 since it was clearly designed around fucking hosts over as Aldritch Faithful, and the only part of DaS 2 that I really liked was Belfry Luna for the exact same reason. On my final run through DaS2 in preparation for 3, I hit my 99 host kills with 6 losses. It was more fun than the rest of the game combined.

Are you embering up every time you die?

Not really.
Sure, quite a few great PVP weapons that aren't straight swords.

Refined/Hollow Washing Pole (Running R1 kills all straight sword/estocfags)
Refined Red Hilted Halberd (also destroys all straight sword/estocfags)
Refined/Hollow Carthus Curved Sword (stupid fast attacks when two handed)
BKGA for L2>R2 oneshot combos or 1shot parry snipes
Gotthard Twinswords/Twinspear rolling L1 for pure poking AIDS
Refined Winged Spear as yet another hard counter for estocfags

2 hander with iron flesh, you never stagger and you get enough time to parry/kill without risk.
That or 2h'd halberd can't be parried, so relentless offensive

The Lothric Knights by the Vordt bonfire drop them.

Any armored mob can drop them, included knights and those huge lizard dudes.

I see, thanks.
Though I don't think it's a huge problem. In PvE, you play whatever brings you the most fun, and in PvP, it's all about playing the other party anyway.

If it's something like Drake Sword 2.0, I bet people using it know very little of other weapons and/or game mechanics, not even accounting the fact that Stomp on a straight sword is somewhat silly.

Na, that's the Raw Astora Straight Sword which has 322 AR at +10 with no stat investment required.

I'm getting bodied hard by lothric

I even finished sirris' questline so I could get some help and she dies laughably easily, gets me an extra couple of hits in tops

How the fuck do you kill him? I'm SL 92 so I don't think i'm underleveled, and I'm using meme sword, applying magic dust and casting profuse sweat whenever. He just autolocks me and takes me out in one combo every time
I get him to 30% health or so

Pretty much lol, i also have been playing really late at night while tired or really drunk so that does not help to git gud

Thanks

Want some help user? I have nothing else to do but NG+ at level 140

I pirated it :3

What SL and how much vig do you have?

If you haven't soft capped your vig at 27, you're probably dying inside a single combo from a lot of enemies when you fuck up a dodge.

Just stay behind him until he finishes his combo and then get a slash in which should hit both of them. Also when you summon an NPC (or a player) you buff the shit out of the boss's HP, so if the NPC is dying right off the bat you're just making it harder for yourself.

Don't get me wrong i see a lot of shitters using it. Really i'm just annoyed that straight swords seem to out DPS most weapons in the game.

Wait, twinspears is viable? Well shit when i get to them on my melee character i know what i'm doing.

Sirris is laughably useless. Most NPC summons are more of a burden than a help.

Eygon gets a pass since he tanks hits like crazy.

The point of summoning NPCs is to draw enemy's attention and reposition yourself/heal up/put buff on.
I'd say all NPCs are useful as fuck in this regard and make any boss battle immensely easier.

Yeah but straight swords biggest weakness is that they are super easy to parry and can be easily outranged with a halberd or a spear.

The spin2win exile greatsword works too
Just run R1 then do the L2 H2 spam

meant R2

Twinspears are most definitely viable. That rolling L1 is fucking brutal for punishing sips, especially if you're under 30% and have fast rolls, and the rest of the moveset isn't bad either.

Sharp Exile Greatsword is fucking awesome at low SL PVP, but I feel it's outclassed by BKGA once you can roll into 40/40.

The range is countered by fast rolling and gap closing. They are mostly pve weapons (especially the lucerne)

Anri can, with some luck, fuck up Sulyvahn hard.

She's no Tarkus though.

Is archery viable is DS3? Thinking about doing a bows and arrows run.

99 arrows max plus 99 in the stash. Because From are niggers.

Why does parry spam seem so hard to punish? What are the best ways to do so? Can weapons be parried from any distance, or can a long reaching weapon avoid them?

It's better than it was in 1 and 2 (although poison arrows are now shit and no longer god-tier like they were in 2), but it's still inferior to everything else. You're going to have to bring multiple arrow types, but thankfully you can have two types equipped at once and pick between them with R1 and R2.

Attack with shit that can't be parried.
PIERCE SHIELD CHARGEEEEEE

Definitely, I was able to cheese the nameless king while naked by only using a composite bow, 99 feather arrows, and 4 hours of my time.

Bring a weapon with spin2win (Carthus Curved Sword will gape some shitpussies). Only the R2 followup can be parried :^)

Don't spam fast attack, retard.

Throwables exist, and they now scale, albeit somewhat faintly.
Also, Pyromancy's Sacred Flame or Farron Darts, though the latter are annoying at best.

user pls.

Oh boy, you don't even know.

Sacred flame is glitched to fuck and back though does that even count? Although knowing from they'll never actually patch it

People said the same thing about Dark Souls II and it was just as dumb then

The best part is that it works in PvP, too.

I indeed didn't know that. I just skimmed over it since it didn't fit my play style back when I got it.
Too bad, I've since played with the idea to use it in PvP against turtles.

I was asking how to punish, not how to avoid.

How long did covenants take?

Eears took two evening of casual silver knights farming.
Everything else was trivial.

Total played for 100% covenants and full NG to NG+2 clear was like 40 hours, but a few hours of that was me tabbing out and shitposting while sitting in firelink. Didn't farm any of the items from mobs.

And I'm asking how to punish.

Your idiocy triggered me, sorry.

I never have enough time for a backstab.

I already got you covered, onii-fam.

...

Gassed.

...

...

It's right fucking there you blind toad. People like you don't deserve fluffy tailed waifu's

user her tail is not at all fluffy. It's like an awful, bleached, PS2-era dragon tail.

It looks more like Seath's tail while Priscilla's looks more like the covenant dragon guy's but white.

or maybe just shitty modelers like the silver/dark knights had

The other day a was one-shoted by some fag using the sacred flame pyromancy… i had like 1,4k hp.
Is really that powerful?

I felt like an idiot for getting hit by that shit

happens way too often

kind of unpleasant at times, I would like more chaotic fights

Mix up with the R2, you can hold it down and charge your attacks for varying durations, just charge and release it after their parry window ends.

yeah it's a glitch.
If you use the white hair talisman 2 handed, it uses the AR of your main hand weapon as it's spell buff.
So a +10 2hander in your main. 2hand the talisman, and cast away. You will IK literally everyone

See

If you see someone pull out a White Hair Talisman, back the fuck up and poke them to death.

So what exactly happens in the 4th ending?
Main dude links the flame with Keeper's body?

Works once and then they're just going to poke you. It's better to bring a weapon with attacks that straight up can't be parried.

what the fuck From?

God damn it, user.

Honestly it's still not as cancerous as batfogging was in DaS2.

a fire weapon makes those carthus skelly swordmen complete bitches.

Dude, katana's weigh up to twice as much as straight swords. They have only around 20-30 more AR over them on Sharp infusion and get beaten by other infusions out right. Katana's actually have recovery time while Straight swords dont. Only the washing pole has a larger hitbox than the longsword. Even the Chaos blade has a narrowing hit boxes than the longsword despite being an obviously longer weapon.

If you can swing twice before they get one in, then you're playing with some mighty latency my friend. You should only be able to get 1 in.

There are very few good builds in this game

1. Quality Longsword/Estoc with buffs
2. Sharp Exile Greatsword with buffs
3. Force trading Greataxes

That's about it

it's not about that they're hard to fight against. It's that they're so much better than every other fucking weapon class in the game.

Fire also stuns the abyssal wacky waving inflatable arm flailing claw fags

and maggots
and dogs

fire is surprisingly effective in this game

if you want to git gud, stop using embers, put no points into hp, and solo all your bosses

quality build with carthus straight sword
it does as much damage as a longsword, but it swings 30% faster

>carthus straight sword
curved. i shouldn't post before i've had my third cup of coffee

OH, I almost forgot

That's the Betrayer ending, but you kill her after she steals the fire?

It actually does more damage than a longsword at 40/40, deals more poise damage (very nice in pve against shit like red-eye lothric knights or silver knights), and has bleed.

she's obviously half t-rex, user

Yeah, it's served me pretty well, and I'm godawful at PvP.
With carthus rouge on it the Dancer melted down almost immediately, though. That was fun.

Every fucking idiots boss uses fire, at least a third of them are also weak to it, as are the majority of regular monsters.

I've yet to discover who, if anybody, is weak to lightning or dark in particular.

It's excellent in PVP against parryspam. Pairs nicely with an Estoc :^)

What's the best place to grind a ton of souls without going to ng+?

The Golden Winged Knights from the elevator at the Grand Archives bonfire.

Equip the biggest fucking great weapon you can find with a hornet ring, silver serpent ring, shield of want and mimic hat, and just sit there backstabbing niggers as they're summoned in the dragon mausoleum and then killing them with a power attack as they recover.

Also you could always just go to ng+ :^) since the matchmaking is based on SL and reinforcement and is independent of NG level.

I would totally do this with the white hair talisman bug if they weren't so far from a bonfire.

Does this still work after the nameless king is dead?

dragons/archdragon peak enemies? going by the game lore at least
probably not nameless king though, cause hes a god and lightning is godly. Maybe gods are weak to dark, cause gods try to prevent abyss from spreading?

Yes, of course. Also make sure you kill Havel up near the big dead dragon on the roof or he can be randomly summoned by that nigger cobra.

The reason I don't want to go to ng+ is because I'll lose access to all the buyable titanite I've unlocked. There's still a ton of shit I want to upgrade to +10/+5.

Man Serpents are weak as fuck to lightning

Reminder that
SILVER KNIGHTS DON'T DROP THEIR WEAPONS

good knight sweet prince

How many of you admit to using Dark Sword and/or Estoc?

I refuse to use the estoc or any kind of straight sword.

Reminder that they both seem to hit for lightning damage so they'd probably be shit now.

I find standard rapier infinitely superior to that slow and clunky piece of shit.
Supposedly it should have better range, but it's barely noticeable, and with how unhandy it is you might as well use spear or washing pole.

Any tips for Abyss Watchers? Is it just a matter of gitting gud with parrying?

They can be hitstunned. Get a Thrusting Sword and R1 them to death

Let them kill each other.

I staggered them in two hits with the great club.

You can stunlock them with literally anything.
They're barely a boss, more like glorified mobs.

I get past the first stage fine, the second stage with the fire bullshit always gets me

Learn to dodge. Or just summon someone.

That nigger can be hitstunned too, you just need to get him started when he isn't using one of his big wind-up attacks with hyper armor.

Yeah, it's basically paying attention to his attacks, as the fire forces you to dodge a specific direction. Can be parried, but damage leaks through like a motherfucker, and he punishes with hyper-armoured combos.

I just downloaded
kat.cr/dark-souls-3-deluxe-edition-v-1-05-2016-repack-nemos-t12542171.html#main
over last night. Hopefully my gt545 can run it.

You basically set to destroy this world(or devour every soul in it) in most assholish way.

Might as well buy PS4

It's twice the game DS2 was. Even if you hate them both, DS3 is better.

Pls no

Spear and washing pole aren't R1R1R1R1R1R1R1 though.

You can play both ds3 and bloodborne on it.

Learn to parry dipshit.

I don't wanna spend 400 bux for 2 games.

ember yourself and summon an npc in near the fog gate

Reminder that all Dark Souls games are 6/10

nah I want to beat it myself

it turns out my weapon (partizan) isn't enough to hitstun him, only the R2 and it's too slow to combo, so I guess I'll have to cheese it with something heavier

There will be a DeS remaster once From's new VR game flops so you can play 3gaems :^)

I don't wanna spend 400 bux for 3 games.

Try 2-handing it. Weapons do more poise damage when 2-handed.

Then buy a proper video card, fucking retard.

Well now you're just being unreasonable user, get with the times.

I'm too lazy to do that, user.

Dark Sword may be one of the easiest weapon to parry, but any lag will make it a lot harder. If you parry the third hit, you already took two and lost 50% health. You're dead if you miss.

Then get not-shit internet and turn cross-region off. Is this so hard?

...

Dear user, cross region doesn't work how you think it works.

In Souls games there are 2 regions. Grorious Nippon, and firthy unrashed gaijin piggu.

at what level does the online die?
I'm at lvl 118 and I never get summoned nor see a summon sign except in that pvp pontif area

I was getting constantly invaded when doing my NG+2 run, and I leveled all the way to ~173.

your 2gud

PvP implies that there are two players.

Should I buy every Ausfag fiber?

This is agony. God fucking damnit From, fix your fucking game so I can get these the proper way.

nice numbers
I just hope the online will pick up again when I reach that dragon peak place

HAHAHAHAHAHA

"you wan brue eye orb? Too bad fuck you gaijin" -From

Profaned Capital. Literally the most unfleshed stuff in the game.

Game is fucking abandoned on PC, we didn´t even get the 1.06 patch

Profaned Capital was short as fuck, but at least it had things in it. It's no Izalith.

Didn't we already get 1.06 though?

Some people don't get not-shit internet, because of where they live. Where they live is usually decided by factors more important than video games.

What 'things in it'?

Kill yourself then.
Fucking subhumans.

Somewhat noteable loot and nooks and crannies to explore. Izalith was just dragon asses and ballsack statues.

I thought this was a popular spot

my quick reply is broken again

Can you go screenshot how many signs are at Pontiff right now?

must be something wrong with my game because nothing is showing up

Are you soft banned?

I don't see why I'd been banned.
I've done nothing wrong

you're too high level.

You're probably soft-banned.

Fags figured out how to use CE to get people soft banned. All they need to do is be in your game, either as a summon or invader (or even yourself being a summon or invader) and it can be done in seconds through a variety of ways.

If you can still see messages, you're not soft-banned.

thank god, you had me rustled there

You can see messages and blood of non-banned players when soft-banned, but you're put in soft-ban pool for soapstones/invasions.

Worked the same in DaS2.

go to the beginning area of lothric and fight some people on NG+
Being over level 100 is way too high to still be on your first playthrough.
Make sure you don't have a password on your ingame network settings. There's also the chance that you might have gotten softbanned by a hacker especially if you are on PC or if you disconnected while invading or being invaded too many times.

Easy way to test if you're soft-banned.

Go make another steam account, authorize it and family share DaS 3 on it (you can use your existing saves).

Since soft bans are account specific and can be bypassed by family share, you should be able to see dozens of signs at Pontiff right now on the new account.

DON'T MIND ME I'M FUCKING RETARDED
I've been running around with a multiplayer password on.

user that is the equivalent of "is it plugged in?"

Glad you aren't fucked though.

I'm sorry, I have that auto hide hud thing on so I didn't see the icon. plus I didn't know that the password goes on all of your characters

"Is it plugged in right" and "Have you tried turning it off and on again" is actually what I do on my job 90% of the time.

t. IT Monkey

It's best when there's an argument about it. And then a long silence.

Can someone explain to me how rolls are calculated in this game? Not for like invincibility frames but like for light, mid, or heavy rolls. I've been rolling around in the basic knight armor since the beginning of the game and I just finished the Deacon of the dick fight last night, and I've still been getting light rolls.
I don't get it. Are mid rolls no longer a thing anymore? Is it just light and heavy?

...

mids rolls are >30 and

Below 30% is fast roll
Below 70% is mid roll
Doesn't really matter because they have the same number of iframes.

Light roll ≤ 30% equip load
Medium roll ≤ 70% equip roll
Fatroll > 70%

Fatroll threshold is weird because using some combinations I get exactly 70.0% equip load and I can medium roll and sometimes with different gear I weight the exact same but I fatroll.

Wait there's a fucking fast roll?

...

No. There isnt. Everything under 70% has the same amount of I frames and virtually the same recovery frames. The only thing that changes is roll distance

...

Alright, business as usual. DS1 stays the best souls game.

what level is that i been fucking sitting in that area for ever and not seen a single summon sign i am lvl 50 am i too high?

Yea. This game was dumbed down, and in a way that some how makes it more accessible than Bloodborne was

BB made up for the removed stuff with new mechanics. DS3 uses the BB engine and animation skeletons (which is why the longswords are so fast, they use the BB animations 1 to 1, while handaxes for example use new slower ones).

118

i miss the:

I really hate the weapon balance in this game.

Don't forget it gives you poise: a literal useless stat.

I miss the actually unique trick weapons.

At which level range is pvp the active the most

One handed that spear is worthless. Two handed moveset is fast and remember to spam the R2 during the charge attack for extra damage.

I played through the game with it because it looked cool. In the end it was easier than with the longsword.

anyone else having issues when playing with more than 2 players?

I did use it two handed, in fact. I found the thing far too slow, as the character pulls the weapon back before a thrust. All attacks, except for the rolling R1 is a forward thrust of some sort, limiting its utility, and the weapon skill requires multiple hits for less damage than the standard R2. I found the charged R2 to be the single most useful part of that weapon. You could more or less brace your attack for oncoming enemies when charging with R2, which has always bothered me with souls games when facing dog enemies. They used to always get easy hits in, even though they'd be charging head first into your weapon. I've hated that since Demon's Souls.

The funniest thing is that right now NOBODY is happy about the balance. PvE sucks because you're extremely limited unless you're masochistic and need extra challenge, PvP sucks because there are like 3 viable builds plus tons and tons of tryhard estoc shitters.

Usually a fucked PvP balance at least means fun builds in PvE.

Will Heavy and Sharp infusions ever be better than refined?

i missing being able to counter/parry with my spell while two-handing burial blade.

fucking skill/arc was amazing in that game.

im a 18/18/60/20 using deep protection and the CSR.
not doing too bad poking people with magic.

>get to king of the storm

I need to git gud

The biggest issue you'll have is limited and expensive ammo, but bows are pretty viable otherwise. The roll-shot on short/composite bows is great for punishing attacks in close-quarters and most bosses don't know how to deal with long-range attacks.

Just put on the Carthus Bloodring and dodgeroll his attacks. A lot of them are heavily telegraphed, but there are some that come out very fast.

only if you're pure dex or pure str.

120, but don't go that high. That's when you'll encounter all the Meta shitters. Stick around 60-90

Wait, there is fast roll after all?

I think they made it so there' just the 70% threshold.

Don't mind me, just read the posts just below these.

while you can parry attacks coming from any direction, you can only parry attacks directer towards you. what this means if someone dead angles you, the attack can't be parried.

So you're retarded? That's nice.

Those big snakemen with the axes are some bullshit.

I'm going to send him a picture of this post.

Any high HP respawning monster I can test bleed with?

The fast roll in DS3 is only useful for escaping estoc R1 spammers, otherwise, it's even worse, since you roll way too far.

sunlight straight sword, pyromancy flame, bellvine for faster miracle buffing, and wearing a skirt.

or if you want to abuse

use the white hair talisman for all three

I've found a surprising niche for myself - coop and pvp in Undead Settlement. Shit's fun.

But user, wop speak makes it even worse.

dragons and dragon-kin are all weak to lightning and gods and god-kin are weak to dark.

...

So… roughly two areas in the entire game.

wut level you at?

It really is as bad as people say it is, my god. So far DaS 2 is still the better of the four games.

I don't get what's wrong with the PvP in comparison to the other games. I think all of them are bad. What makes this one worse? The balancing is fucked, but that's nothing new. Neither is no poise.

34, and all weapons +4 (+2 if twinkling/scale). My logic is that by this point in the game, most people should have at least a +2 weapon (should be enough titanite in High Wall to do that), and be at least in the teens in terms of soul level.

It's gonna need months of fixing to make DaS 3 PvP good, and until then I can easily see people fleeing back to DaS 2. Hell, just last night I found many a faggot on the Iron Keep bridge with their signs down.

Refined Carthus Curved Sword +10 at 40/40 str/dex is 478 AR, and it's a faster hitting weapon than even the dark sword yet has the same range. Also its L2 is unparryable.
CCS is the true cheese.

Also, pics related.

Poise patch when

Never ever

Besides, From giveth and From taketh away so be prepared for them to fuck up the balance in other ways.

Hopefully soon. A lot of stuff in the game is literally pointless because it is disabled.

For some reason, I can only summon 2 Dark Spirits, before all the other signs dissapear, I have the dead finger active.

A little /tg/ crossposting, but tell me what you see here.

I expect it to be back within a couple weeks, but still need tons of balancing over the next month. I wonder if my interest will hold that long.

Hollow?

I do agree that DaS 3 build variety is shit, but you guys really need to realize that DaS 2 actually got the balancing thing right though. It's the only game in the series where you can make any class of weapon work well in PvP.

Not Artorias and not Sif

If by hollow, you mean I don't have an ember active, then I do. I am 99 hollow, but this has never stopped pvp with multiplie people before

It looks like you started as deprived.

Low level pvp is funny.

youtube.com/watch?v=m-3NsG4mnHo
pvp in a nutshell

Thief, actually.

Hollow limits summoning

They balanced DaS1 fine when lightning was stupidly good, so I'm confident they'll do some more changes.

Dark sigil puts a limit on number of people you can summon.

In other words, it subtracts 1 from the max.

Low level PvP is where it's at its best, because it's extremely difficult to have gimmick or cheese builds at that point. You can pretty much PvP in full Fashion Souls attire with whatever hipster-ass weapon you want, and be effective and have a good time.

Once you get up over ~60, you start seeing cheese and meta-cancer everywhere.

Yet they never brought Lightning Spears up to par after nerfing them into the ground in DS2.

meant for

The flip side being that you get a lot of people using complete garbage and having no idea how to fight you. I stopped doing low level because it made me feel like an asshole.

Dark Souls 2 lightning spears are pretty dank once you get a lot of attunement and stack multiple copies of them.

no surprise there, these threads are cancer

I don't know what it is about Undead Settlement but all the big, fun brawls I've had were there.

If one spell out of many is shit it's not as big of a problem as a whole category being garbage.

Besides, I rather they buff utility spells like Force again. Knocking people off ledges is fun.

Darkmoon playability patch when?

Fug.
Does this only go into effect after you got all 8 sigils? I had 5 before and there i could summon up to 5 people

Right, of course but it shows that at some point they just gave up and I'm afraid the same will happen with this game. Maybe another patch that reintroduces poise and then MAYBE a patch with each DLC and that's it.

Better off farming Silver Knights. Theres no decent covenant to punish invaders. Hell, blue eye orb was fucking broken.

Is Gwyndolin a futa or a trap? Would it be gay to fuck it?

feminine shota with tentacles ain't gay to cuddle with

I just want to have blue eye orbs that let me invade worlds with invaders, without necessarily requiring Way of Blue. I dunno, make those blue eye orbs really limited, whatever, just SOMETHING to improve the situation.

Look at it in the grand scheme, if one spell or weapon is underpowered it doesn't break the game, it's just a shame. If one spell or weapon is fucking broken up to the point where you have to use it to stay competitive, it's a bigger shame because all other options are inferior.
Obviously you can't balance a game like this perfectly, but the previous games had issues too and are now relatively balanced. I don't think they'll just leave DaS3 sitting in this state.

Yes.

I'm pretty sure it only takes one dark sigil, but I didn't notice the cause of the limit until I had 4 dark sigil, so I don't know for sure.

...

It's linear as fuck, the poise literally doesn't do ANYTHING, and most of its content is derivative of DS1 and its memories.

I'm enjoying myself, but you need to be realistic.

Male raised as female, it would be very gay.

So I never played the DS2 DLC, but I've been watching a LP of it just to see what it was about, and I gotta ask - is Irithyll just a shameless reboot of Eleum Loyce? The overall design of the frozen deserted city, the long bridge with the huge beast guarding it, the tall spire-like architecture and the sort of warning barrier as you enter it - all of that stuff was just re-purposed in DS3.

Irithyll looks miles better, but god damn here I was thinking the Souls team had a semi-original idea with that place.

...

...

I don't get it. Ariamis was also snowy, but it was nothing like Eleum Loyce or Irithyll at all in any other way.
Irithyll on the other hand is just Eleum Loyce 2.0.

I honestly prefer Eleum Loyce over Irythyll. Irythyll doesn't make much sense to me as it was never snowing in the first game, whether the illusion was broken or not.

You are aware that Irithyll is literally the bottom part of Anor Londo?

That's pretty obvious, yeah, but they totally re-imagined it and fleshed it out for DS3. There's really no connection between the two besides basic geographic lore of "they're the same place technically".

It's still snowing at the very top. Regardless, ds3 takes place a long time after ds1 and one could easily justify it by saying the fire fading has made the overall climate of the world colder.

It's a sprawling area with a looping layout, and is host to the first PvP covenant in the game. Also, moundmakers are the best pvp covenant IMO:

From has been repurposing since Demon's Souls. There was a snowy area that was cut I believe.

I don't see the harm in it anyway, Irithyll was the town below Anor Londo and storywise it probably makes sense why shit got cold. Reusing design choices is also pretty normal for a series, not to mention the ones you listed are pretty standard for fantasy settings (bridge with a beast guarding it for instance).

I don't see any harm in it either, I was just surprised to see the exact same idea surrounding the zone basically copy/pasted from DS2 to DS3.

Purple is suffering.

You're a mad phantom, not a red phantom. They're treating you as the liability you're supposed to be.

How come whips are shit in this game? are there any decent whips?

I've heard interesting things about that witchywhip, but I have no idea if it's viable.
I know that it's great for one-shotting shitters in Highwall, though. I know this because it happened to me

It's snowing now because the region has been stuck in permanent night for however many centuries it's been since Gwyndolin stopped giving a shit and dispelled his illusion. The mountains surrounding Irithyll trap all that cold air, creating a localized, low-elevation region of cold weather; a "boreal valley" if you will.

Does anyone know if your covenant items get taken from your inventory when you enter NG+ like the key items?

They do not, and your covenant ranking also persists.

My options are either kill 2 phantoms or kill the host. His options are kill the host or die and fail. The host already has a phantom, possibly 2. Sure, I could kill him but why would I when we can easily team up against the host?

If you invest heavilt in int/faith witch's locks can do pretty good damage.

That's bullshit but I'll believe it.

Actually now that I think about it, they might…
Your covenant ranking persists, but the items might get scrubbed from you.
Fuck, I've played through NG++ twice now and I can't fucking remember. Fuck my brain.

There are around four popular weapons but there are also underrated ones. Gundyr's Halberd, for example, is incredible for invading. Can wreck whole groups with that.

I keep a long sword for guard breaking while invading. It's a surprise element and I can usually finishing medium shield turtles with it. Greatshield turtles are tough, but guard break can work even on them.

Estus is bullshit. Rapiers are bullshit (dark sword is bullshit just because it's the new drake sword). Build variety has been shit forever; everyone just goes quality.

Because dickwraiths gonna dick, user. When there's more than one phantom that you have to kill and other battle royale shit going on, your best bet is to run away and set up a really dickass ambush.

One time it told me I had to kill 3 phantoms, and I just black crystalled out because I can't even be fucked with that shit.

I mostly invade in places like Kiln where I can weapon knockback phantoms off the platform. Even 3 vs 1 can be managed.

The best case scenario is two slow weapons and one fast. The fast one will always be greedy and a free parry. That leaves 2 vs 1 which is already fine.

everything but long swords and pyromancies is shit in this game.

And the dickwraith that killed me was most likely stomped into shit by 3 people surrounding him and spamming r1 with estocs and dark swords. But no, he thought with his dick and attacks the first thing he saw even though he gains literally nothing from doing so.

I didn't realize that's an actual thing. I figured the name was just made up bullshit.

That is a correct assessment of the mentality of red invaders.

Boreal means "northern" I believe. Aurora Borealis are the northern lights, Aurora Australis are the southern lights.
I guess Australia just means "place that's to the south" or something like that.

I dunno who this guy is, but he's been hosting this fight club for ages now. Full smough armor, ultra-fatroll, just sits there spamming dried knuckles, phantoms fight for him.

99% of people in this game are not very smart.

Remember, the people you carry through every boss fight as a sunbro are the one's who then go on to become shitters.

This is why I haven't sunbroed any bosses. Got my medals through PvP.

I'm doing them a bigger favor shitting on them. It might push them to git gud.

Yes, but you'd have to get Aldritch out of the way first, he's eating that ass out… Literally

Nobody knows, then?

They're not removed.

Footman's chestpiece would be pretty sweet for tanky builds, hopefully sometime ever

Where are those from?

I just want my ostentatious as fuck Mirror Knight set back. Stone Armor and Old Knight Armor weren't bad either.

You got the old stone greatshield, but no sword or armor ;_;

Here's a screenshot taken from Yorshka's tower, showing the rear of the Abyss Watchers' mausoleum and the exit from the Catacombs to Irithyll.
Think about the path you take going through the catacombs. Where should you have come out?
At least this time it's not as obvious as taking an elevator straight up into the sky and coming out in the middle of a volcano

I don't see a problem there.
Maybe there is one, but you should sit down and think really hard if shit connects or not.

It is MUCH better than nonsensical bullshit from Dark Souls 2.

Has anyone bothered to put all the maps together to see if they fit yet?

I think most of people's complaints about poor/simplistic level design stems from the fact that most of the areas are fucking MASSIVE
I swear, the entirety of yahrnam could probably fit inside the combined area of the crucifixion woods and the farron keep
granted, the game supposedly had to be redone from scratch after miyazaki took over because it was so terrible
fortunately that gives me hope for the DLCs which are almost always twice as good as the main game

actually, I think the path from the beginning of the catacombs all the way to wolnir actually curves to the left, so that would still make sense spatially
what I think is REALLY fucking cool is that the ashen graveyard, the untended graves, and the kiln of the first flame are all technically in the same exact place (you can noclip into the consumed king's garden from the starting area exactly where you enter the untended graves), but simply load differently depending on how you get there

*right

any videos showing this?

...

wtf?

The only "eastern" thing about this dumb ass armor is the right shoulder plate. Otherwise it is just a clusterfuck of random shit strapped together.
Where is the real samurai armor, From? What the fuck.

"East" may imply japan but I'm pretty sure actual japan doesn't exist in the dark souls universe. Keep in mind that the designs for actual japanese weapons and armor came about because of the scarcity of iron. For all you know, japan may have actually made armor that looked like that if iron was plentiful enough.

Gwyndolin canonically has tits to go with his dick, so he's more of a shemale then a trap which makes him even hotter~

Bear in mind that the stairs with the first skeleton ball lead down back underneath the mausoleum. That same path goes straight ahead past the bonfire, after which there's a 90 degree left turn to the cave section. The cave curves to the left, but then immediately curves back to the right after you cross the bridge, and then from Wolnir's room it's a straight shot out to Irithyll.
The only way this could possibly fit the positions seen from Irithyll would be if the entrance to the mausoleum were on the broad side facing it, but there's a wall in the way.

Also keep in mind that he has 12 dicks instead of legs.

Bloodborne did this too, most notably the building you descend to get to Old Yharnam and the view of the area leading to Bloodstarved Beast as seen from Central Yharnam conflicting with the view of Central Yharnam as seen from the area leading to Bloodstarved Beast.
Personally I don't have a problem with this sort of spatial inconsistency because it's very subtle and doesn't disrupt immersion. In the case of Bloodborne's spatial inconsistencies it's normally such as to add style to the area (especially when looking at the Central Yharnam bridge just before the Bloodstarved Beast - had it been accurate and consistent it wouldn't have been nearly as good a view). I don't know if this is necessarily the same reasoning behind DaS3's spatial inconsistencies but I wouldn't be surprised if it were.

fuck this shit

Somebody should just rip models out and strap them together.
There is similar picture for DS2 somewhere, but I didn't save it.

Imagine what it would be like. You're fucking him in the ass with your one dick, he's fucking you in the ass with one of his own, you're both jerking off a dick in each hand while sucking off another, and there are still five more of his dicks writhing around waiting for a turn, and I bet when he orgasms they all ejaculate simultaneously so the two of you would get covered in a shower of cum. Why the fuck isn't /d/ all up on Gywndolin, he's practically a patron god for them

Good design, From, good design.

ftfy

Correction: There'd be four dicks on standby, because he could probably give himself a titfuck with one of them. Still, that's a lot of tenta-dicks.

Four armpits bring the unused dick count to zero.

11 vaganias, maybe more

He's just another flailing mass of limbs except piss easy this time around because the hitboxes on his limbs aren't artificially fucked up.

The rest of the area can suck a dick though.

Whoever does it needs to go the extra mile and overlap the ds1 and ds3 maps using anor londo as a focal point.

I'm starting to think that fucking dinner plate is more of a sign of metafag scrubs than the weapons are.

I feel like this game basically is Dark Souls 2.

The lore makes it as if the events of Dark Souls 2 never even happened.

Who gives a shit about lore?
The gameplay makes it as if Dark Souls 2 never even happened, which is fucking great.

PS4 coop anyone?

Ps4 was a gift and got bloodbourne and DS3 for free with it

What level and what part of the game are you at?

You don't need to justify your purchase here, user. The Bloodborne machine will have gameS one day.

Soul level 58 and at the beginning of Boreal valley

I can help anyone lower, and wouldnt mind voice chat.

Ah. I've got a ~100 at the very end of the game and a ~20 at Lothric. I could help you with Irithyll if that's giving you trouble.

Just use a great hammer/axe/ultra greatsword and 2 hand it. With the exception of the pickaxe, they can't be parried.

Uh, there are plenty of references to DS2. You find Gilligan's corpse in a room full of ladders.

That's more a nod than any sort of serious connection, as most DaS2 references are in DaS3.

That's awful.

That's because this is suppose to take place before Dark Souls 2.

ps: grass 77

So you want help with Irithyll?

yeee, and kill some invaders if they pop up.

Alright, bitch. I'll be at the Irithyll bonfire in a bit.

I think you have to put the sign past the arc on the bridge.

It's down next to the bonfire past the bridge.

dont see it.

I moved it to right in front of the barrier on the bridge. Password is "grass 77" with a space, right?

no space, and im at the bonfire past the bridge.

I really don't understand the mass number of gank squads this time around. Seems like every other time I invade it's to three phantoms that spam dual swords L1.

I mean, how is it fun to just kill people with no effort or skill on your part?

Ok, it's at the bonfire now and my password is grass77. Are you embered up?

yeah, dont see it? maybe youre too high level or something. I heard high levels cant join or some weird complicated rule or something idk.

Did you study history in school?
That's literally what humanity was doing since the dawn of time.

I'm being summoned, is it you? I'm Rollo.

Almost never just for shits and giggles though. They're getting like 200 souls for each kill and no covenant items. It's just a waste of time.

V-video games?

Yeah I saw it, but I got killed by those skinny machinist guys.

I just spent 45 minutes on an invasion 4v1 the whole time.

I killed 8+ phantoms, then I died because the host activated a seed of a tree of giants.

The guy was summoning two of his faggot friends on password matchmaking nonsense, then he had way of the blue and would summon another.

I nearly One shot the host with a dropping attack at the end, then as Im doging some faggot blue using his high speed hoity toity fancy hotshot Gotthard ry hard swords, I get stabbed in the back by a Lothric Knight.

It sent me into a blind rage and I just punched and then smashed my keyboard. Hand is bleeding and keyboard is in two pieces.

Check the hosts profile, he is in the 4chan steam group, profile is loaded with memes, avatar is a meme, comment section is full of le ebin copypasta memes, i fucking hate 4chan more than reddit

I guess I just don't see the appeal. It's not like you're harming the other people and you're just mashing one button every few minutes.

That really was a mistake the way they implemented it. It leaves a really bad taste in my mouth when I invade at level 20 and the phantom has the armor you can only get in NG+ and he can use the estoc R1 nine times before stopping.

Just fuck my shit up fam. There goes my 130k souls.

The weapon level shit is aggravating too.

I built a character at level 53 initially centered a a few choice Strength weapons.

Was able to have 31 Vit, 25 End and 32 Str, I did Dancer and Gundyr at level 30 something with a raw weapon to get Hornet Ring early.

Then I start invading and I get max level faggots swining their Great Weapons 6+ times in a row.

Why would they change something that worked so well, in Dark Souls ?

You were able to make fun invaders by going through the game at a low level and then targeting that area.

I remember a Whip, No fall damage, poison arrow character I made just for invading Blighttown,it was fun as hell, the only people I went all out asshole mode on were the Drake Sword users because you know those faggots googled that shit.

At the Church of Yorshka bonfire

...

My sign is down

Wrong faggot, I like to be under leveled it allows me to get the wider pool to invade.

I would just like to have my builds optimized.
And to know the average level of the area and people in the area.

Level 100 pontiff arena fits your criteria perfectly.
Stop being a lying bitch.

...

While we're on the subject of low level invasions, it's really god damn annoying that you can't do most of the infusions until really late in the game.

They even give you raw right off the bat, which beats the shit out of every other one until you level up quite a bit. So everyone uses raw or fire.

Yes, I'll go to the Twitch Approved™ area to find invasions, aka The "Do my le honor Legion Etiquette bow then chug after every time I get hit" arena.

No thanks.

I'm currently using the Final Boss area as an invasion spot.
I see to get a few similarly leveled people there, but mostly just high level ganking faggots.
Its good practice though, no mobs to provide cover, no were to get any breathing room, just constant Dark Sword shitters spamming their R1 with their multitude of phantoms buddies.

Because low level invading shouldn't be a thing at all.

That's why they give you the all those cracked orbs for free, they can be chosen as a starting gift, and they give you the full orb in the second area of the game, right?

What a horrendously idiotic thing to suggest.

Enjoy your ganksquads then

You say that like there is no middle ground at all. Are you a retarded person?

Show me on the doll where the darkwraith touched you, user.

Git gud or get raped retards.
Or go to fightclub and fight like men.

Are you okay user?
Have you been drinking?

That's literally what's going on in this thread.
People are frustrated that they can't effortlessly ruin new players' fun by invading with overpowered gear.

It is perfectly possible to set up low level fight clubs, but nobody is doing that, everyone only complains.

I actively destroy any fight club I come across.

user, I think you have to go back.

Amen. Death to fight clubs. Duelfags have destroyed the game.

I wonder if you succeeded at least once

That is one thing they did well this time around, you can have some pretty crazy situations going on

Also, second pic related should not be possible. They were both just stuck outside the not-fog gate waiting.

Did you even play Dark Souls, user?
Invaders used to have an unlimited upper range for levels when searching for worlds; they could encounter NG characters as well as NG+/++/etc; which was what user was complaining about in the first place, in addition to there being no arbitrary progress flags limiting matchmaking as well.

There's nothing stopping you from beating the game at SL20 just like I did with my old man samurai, user, there's no reason to cry about 'twinking'.

Fight clubs are trashpits full of shitters and ebin reddit memesters/e-celeb cocksuckers, and they're exactly the kind of cancer that made Dark Souls 2's PvP-oriented garbage happen. Fuck you and fuck your shitty duelist hugbox and learn to dickwraith like a man.

Dickwraithing only very rarely instills fear and dread into the hearts of the invaded nowadays.
Etiquette and dueling were a mistake.

You sound salty

I couldn't git gud, I had to respec to beat the game.

Just pirated Dark Souls 3. You guys still playing with that multiplayer fix or something?

Don't feel bad user, all my first playthoughs stack a bit of life, 20 or so. No life runs are what second playthroughs are for.

Doesn't that only let you play with other people who pirated it?

There is no reason not to soft cap vig at 27 unless you're doing an extremely low level pvp build. Your friend isn't a vet, he's a shitter.

I had to level up my vigor to 20 on my first playthrough for the Twins. Would die in two hits otherwise. Not too worried though since I ended up leveling it to 25 (30 total with prisoner's chain) for PvP.

...

That's not what soft cap means.

Shit nigger, get it together. Go look up the HP gain rates per point of vigor.

The first soft cap is at 27 in DaS3.

From 10 to 27 we get a whopping 597 HP for 17 points.

From 27-50 we get 300 HP for 23 points.

From 50-99 we get 100 HP for 49 points.

But 27 is definitely the soft cap and 50 is the hard.

No, hard caps are impossible to exceed, so the hard cap is 99. I don't know if there can technically be multiple soft caps, though.

I've always heard the term "hard cap" refer to that cutoff which results in such starkly diminishing returns that there's almost no point in levelling them, whereas "soft cap" refers to the cutoff before that which yields less returns but still appreciable.
Calling 99 a hard cap doesn't make for a very useful term since that's the maximum level so demarcating it as the point at which there are no returns is a pretty silly thing to say since it cant possibly go higher.

That's how the community has chosen to label those breakpoints in diminishing returns. Whether or not you disagree with that verbage isn't particularly relevant to the conversation at hand, or my original assertion that 27 Vigor is an optimal point to stop at.

You're right, hard cap seems to be another dip in returns, not the actual point where you are forced to stop increases. Your point is a bit dumb. The optimal point to stop vigor is completely dependent on the level you plan to stop at and the build you plan to use. 27 is a good spot but it certainly will not be optimal for everyone.

I agree that his friend is a little shit for recommending no VIG, though.

I suppose it's an anecdotal thing; I've always seen and used 'Soft Cap' to refer to values at which you begin to see starkly diminishing returns on investment, and there could be multiple of them; whereas Hard Caps are the absolute maximium.

The only exception I've ever seen is where it was reversed, the 'soft cap' was the maximium allocatable, and the 'hard cap' was what could be achieved with equipment; though this was only the case when discussing older RPGs.

Shit, you said AN optimal point.
Yes it is.

Top kek. Keep your weapon at +4 or so, and you will avoid that shit.

This system is EXACTLY there to prevent minmaxing twinks.

I really do love that change.

It's okay user. Here, have some best girl from das2 ornifex a shit.

I really like it too. But I do wish that your character's inherent weapon level went down to the highest thing in your inventory. Maybe the guy in this thread wasn't using his +10. It wouldn't be as big of a deal if the game told you that it's permanent.

That's the one thing I agree on. It should let you matchmake to lower if you put your highest weapons into stash. That way, you can get a nice well-upgraded weapon for going through the game, then stash it and use a low-upgrade weapon for pvp.

but user, then From would have to tell the game to keep track of what was in your inventory and what was in your stash, and thats just too much work.

It would be difficult technical perspective to accomplish that unless they only allowed you to access your bottomless box in firelink shrine or the handful of other 'no matchmaking' zones due to how the matchaking pool and queue system works.

Still, that would be a good feature and I'd be willing to accept only having the box accessible in firelink shrine since it's not like you're using it all the fucking time.

*difficult from a

Taking a player out of matchmaking while they used the bonfire would've worked, would it have not?

It would, but that would also reset your position in the invasion queue and make running around as human significantly less dangerous unless it just threw your ass to the front of the line each time you stepped off of a bonfire.

...

So much about this game feels lazy when it comes to multiplayer.
The entirely arbitrary level ranges that penalize lower level players to the static weapon upgrade flags that pigeonhole the meta into +2/+7/+10 to that broken as fuck covenant queue system that re-prioritizes the same players over and over again.
It also doesn't help that they shot themselves in the foot by not taking up the few things DaS2 did right like Blue Eye Orbs.

Give Invasions harsher ranges to pick on players and suddenly you've made PvE/Invasion-avoidance an actually interesting endurance run where you have to minimize contact with bonfires, and thus the use of your resources. Maybe throw in DaS1-style bonus item discovery and increase the soul gain while embered to promote players to be ember'd anywhere but the fucking fog gate.

But user, imagine trying to grind concords when you get kicked to the back of the line for blue/dorkmoon summons every time you touched a bonfire.

I think restricting box access to specific bonfires would not only be the least disruptive for players, but would require the smallest amount of work to implement.

T-thanks for reminding me…

You're only making my dick harder, user.
Unless you mean the actual waiting line for blueberries, in which case FROM not switching it for them is exactly the level of "quality" I've come to expect from them.

No, not really. The moment you get invaded is the moment you can no longer sit at a bonfire, thus locking you out of your storage. If the weapon level matchmaking happens at that moment, you will be matched according to the highest weapon in your inventory at the moment of connection.

Yeah, that. As it stands, having to avoid MM deadzones for 2+ hours in queue before I start make it high enough in the line to start getting chain summoned is already bad enough.

I also wouldn't mind some MM fuckery like queuing you for simultaneous reds equal to the amount of friendly phantoms you currently have in your game.

That's not how the system works, though. Your entire pool of soapstones/blues/invaders is based on what your weapon flag is. Your proposed system is disruptive and complicated.

*Weapon flag and SL

Limiting bottomless box access to the mm deadzones requires the least amount of changes and doesn't fuck with how the matchmaker populates your queues or any existing invasion mechanics.

Well, it's certainly a better system than we have now.
I'd still kill for a proper reworking of the embered state and invading as well; removing humanity spam was a good move but removing everything else feels lazy and bland.

I really can't comprehend how somebody here would defend fight clubs and muh honoure pvp. These are anathema to the entire concept of invasions in DS3 and cause nothing but cancer.

Making MP as easy as it is now was a mistake. Dark Souls is about isolation, not fucking around with two buttbuddies all the time.

Fight club =/= summoning for help
I understand that they are both a part of the same online system, but I use the former, not the latter. What's wrong with getting some enjoyment out of the game after you've beaten it?

...

I got five pale tongues this way and 25 just dueling.

I'm actually having fun in PvP since everybody and their grandmother tries parrying with hornet ring

I really miss carrying around 10 "liquid" humanity at all times for the massive item discovery boost. That made it so much more thrilling to die in a really shitty spot and have to splinter cell your way back to your corpse.

The enemies being able to easily stunlock you is fucking horrid.
You cant even use hyperarmor to trade hits because they hit you for more than at least a third or two of your health but your hyperarmor attack does a third of the enemies health at best.
Thats on top of the larger, more powerful enemies having longer range than you with their fuckhuge weapons.
And enemies can gang up on you, so you have to tediously lure out every single enemy of an encounter so you dont get stunlocked and combod to death
im starting to think this game is just unfair

user post your build and weapons.

there's this horrifying monstrous-sounding growling/gargling noise in this corner over by Greirat in Firelink.

I can't for the life of me figure out what the hell it is or what it may mean – if anything – and when I look it up on google I just get pages and pages of results of people talking about Frampt's snoring in DaS1

Its a dog. If you kill it the sound goes away.

It's just sloppy design as per usual.
You can either learn every single enemies attacks and dodge or just use a shield.

Fuck I'm beginning to wonder how a full tank build with a greatshield would work in PvE. Shit against bosses, probably.

That user is just built wrong.

On my strength character I was pancaking niggers with the Great Machete I found in the Undead Settlement until Yhorm where I upgraded to Yhorm's Great Machete.

One charge attack would either 1shot or pancake and 80% kill pretty much every enemy.

I just discovered something, I googled it but no results so I am wondering if this is not well known.

If you bow to a friendly NPC, it bows back to you.

If you 'Toast' at the Fire Keeper she does a little twirl. Too fucking cute.

I just spoke to Ludleth for the first time without skipping everything he said. And he said that he linked the fire and became a lord of cinder. How the fuck did Gwyn link the flame if there were no lords of cinder before him ? Fucking check mate, atheists and fuck From for shitting on the lore

Even red eye enemies or dudes like the Cathedral Knights?

Because those niggers are annoying as shit.

Red eyes yes, for Shield Cathedral Knights I Pull out my Longsword, guard-break them, swap back to my great machete and 90% kill them with a hornet riposte :^)

For Greatsword Cathedral Knights I just backstab fish them because even 2h charge attacks don't break their poise.

Its possible Ludleth was the Chosen Undead from Souls 1, or there'sa cycle or two that happened between Souls 1 & 3 that we didn't act in, since Souls 2 is in a far away land.

You cheeky cunt.

Passworded soapstones have infinite level distance, get a friend to load you up with rings from the start and gape shitpussies all day in pvp :^)

If you're a scrub, yeah. And anyway, we are talking about PvE, not PvP, you fucking scrub.

Also, just happened.

Literally nothing wrong with passing down your previous character's rings as hand-me-downs using in-game trading mechanics.

weapons: heavy morning star +8, lightning reinforced club+5, anri's straight sword +5(used be vordt's great hammer+3, hence all that vit)

i'm having somewhat better results in terms of dealing damage with anri's sword.

i'm at archdragon peak, i only have nameless king, lothric and soul of cinder to beat.

Those are some truly shit weapons, user.

Respec some of that int to hit 40 STR and get you a +10 Butcher's Knife and Yhorm's Great Machete.

It'll change your life.

respeccing is gonna have to wait till im done with sirris, i plan on getting 50 strength for smoughs hammer and fume sword anyway.
are (great)hammers just not good for single player? having entire weapon categories be shit seems like bad design.

They're okay, mostly good for killing snibety snabs, but great axes are better.

best early game weapon anons ?

Lothric knight sword

Is it possible to trade infused weapons as long as they are not reinforced?

I've new love for Great Scythe. It may be a bit weaker than other dex weapons (not by much), but its range and moveset more than make up for it.

You can trade infusions at any upgrade level.

Broadsword and long sword, seriously. Straight swords are overpowered right now.
Farm the winged knight halberd if you prefer a bigger weapon.

If your going Miracle/Magic/Pyromancy/Dark Build Or Hollow Infusion with Luck

Raw Astora Straight Sword - outpaces regular scaling and other infusions up to at least +6 upgrade. you could keep going with it till you get your infusion you need then switch it out with that one, I'm doing that with my current character
