It just makes things more fucked up and/or stupid if Rhaegar named his second son the same name as his first son knowing the first was going to get splattered.
I can't even begin to understand the reasoning from the writers. Was it so hard to just pick from the generous pool of Targaryen given names. Did it have to be a familiar one for normalfag audiences to understand?
