Thats exactly my point, they were kept in line by supressing nationalist groups formed along ethnic and linguistic lines, giving those groups no space to grow. Give them a finger and they took the entire hand, causing the breakup of Yugoslavia and years of actual genocide and civil war. All because they we able to be devided into languages and creeds, because we allowed these useless ethnic, cultural and linguistical divisions to keep existing, even though every leftist with half a brain says that cultures and races are spooks.

Had the yugoslavs been unified into one country, they might not have broken apart. The USA succesfully unified all their (white) ethnicities by suppressing all languages but english and having all the european ethnic groups interbreed into one giant "white" arbitrary category. The cultures therefore intermingled into one big culture and together with nationalism, the united states managed to create a unified country out of a very diverse source of people, destroying the source's origins and melting them into a whole.
