Just look at leftist propaganda; the wall is estimated to cost $15-25 billion, which is a fraction of the cost of illegal immigration which is estimated to be $113 billion. Even if the wall only cuts down on a quarter of illegal immigration it would still be worth the cost.

Walls work very simply. The US-Mexico border wall will be a very large and ambitious project, but it's not impractical at all.

What is not practical or sustainable is to continue to let hundreds of thousands of illegals free passage across the border so they can come and live off the fat of the land. We must also track visa overstays and put a stop to birth tourism, birthright citizenship, and sanctuary cities.

I remember people pointing out a while ago that the US army has to build strategic walls all the time; you could make them do it as a training excercise. There would be no real labour costs because the army is already being paid by the US government; the only cost would be for materials.

The wall is a fantasy. Trump can't just say "okay, start building it now."

It would take years of planning before the first brick could be laid, and that's not even counting the time it takes for him to gain support from the rest of the government and cut through the red tape.

The only possible way this could happen within the next 4 years is if he did it through his own private company with essentially his own money… and he's not going to do that.

Even if he does the proper planning and lays the bureaucratic groundwork for the wall, he won't be re-elected; the plans will never come to fruition.
