I love how virtually every single one of your counterpoints is basically
The design sketch showed the jacket's entire purpose was to conceal them. Any comic that shrinks and covers up women's breasts for supposed "realism" while the male characters are still flying around in skintight suits that somehow show off their muscles is feminist horse shit.
Why would you think this was a good thing? She was introduced as Mr. Niggerific's fuckbuddy who gets lectured about how she don't know how hard it is to be black. No one wants the characters to suddenly be sluts, but no one wants the fanservice toned down either. That's the worst of both worlds. That's some Sex and the City garbage. aka, feminist shit.
That's like saying "Well, they made Iceman gay because they're making everyone gay!"
I don't care about fanservice involving a version of the character designed with smaller breasts you fucking imbecile. Let me dumb this the fuck down for you.
Everyone wanted to see Ariel Winter naked before she got her breast reduction. After she got them chopped off and gave an interview claiming she did it to "fight misogyny" no one wanted to fucking touch her. All of a sudden she comes out with hundreds of "sexy" candids in revealing outfits showing off her now much smaller cleavage, fat gut and oversized head, and all anyone said was "Ewwww, we can see the breast reduction scars." No one wants to see fanservice of a character you've just redesigned to make unappealing you fucking idiot.
This effects nothing, means nothing, and is an utterly worthless nothing statement.
"Yeah well, everyone agreed with you and the book got cancelled! I mean yeah it still happened and she's still around and it's still canon, but you were so right and me so wrong that the book got cancelled so- I should probably shut up, right?"
Poor choice of words.
You're bringing up that she got banished to another universe like we should applaud that.
What happened to Ted Kord, Johnny Thunder, Mr. Terrific, Firestorm, The Atom, The Question… I could keep going.
You're not wiggling out of this one. He specified in an interview this was to make Superman represent his socialist values. It was political fuckery and he should be kicked in his bald head for it.
So why is Wonder Woman black, then? Why write that disgustingly awful page where he lectures a white Lex Luthor on how he only hates him because he's black?
Renee was straight in the cartoon, Midnighter is supposed to be a gay version of Batman.
Steel is the PERFECT example of how to do a legacy character of a different race. People should freaking study The Death of Superman because I remember after that happened continuing to want to read Superman, but also wanting to read Steel and Superboy and see more of the Eradicator. The new take on Supergirl didn't work for me though.
Steel had an interesting and well-thought out backstory that tied him both to Superman and to American folklore with the "john henry irons" name. He drew inspiration from Superman, but was completely different from him in every way. He had a great costume, but he would never measure up to the original. He was unique enough that they could make a (albeit, completely terrible) movie about him without even mentioning a connection to Superman.
It wasn't just "remember that white guy you liked? Well I'm taking his shit now, yo! Hahaha!" Steel did his own thing as an homage to Superman. I loved seeing Superman, Steel and Kon-El team up.
