I used to be good at these games as a kid but I'm finding it really fucking difficult now. Am I just too old and softened after playing Vidya in an increasingly casual industry for the past 20 years? >>523534146i was running into the same trouble but i've played so damn much of this franchise in my teens it's just coming back as muscle memory. the reason you can't get high scores is you aren't abusing your special tricks. it was the same in the original games. i bet you just need to set some more specials up, fill out the rest of the grab & flip trick buttons, then memorize and actually get used to pulling them off. if you keep fucking up the timing just go free skate and get on vert and keep pulling them off until you can consistently land them.i usually had like four or more special grab tricks, one grind, one flat, and one manual special each. always easy button combos to remember that matched the animation as close as they could. misty flip for example would be < > Oalso stop using the 900. it has the longest special animation and you just won't fucking land it with low stats. don't care that it's 9000 points. it's 0 pts if you can't land it. everyone should be using a custom skater fuck outta here if u dont

How can I get high scores? I have way better luck chaining a bunch of grinds together than I do doing anything with verts. Can you chain those with reverts into manuals? You lose a ton of speed that way.

Does playing this give anybody else a weird feeling that isn't quite straight up nostalgia? It just makes me reflect on how that era of video games wasn't totally archaic and limited but also weren't obsessed with grand spectacle and shit. It's a relatively simple game but it's super slick, fun, doesn't feel impossible to learn and has a cool soundtrack. I don't know, That time was such a sweet spot in gaming, playing this is like a glimpse into what used to be. Not only in game design but kind of culturally too. It'll will probably become irrelevant in the next 2-4 weeks like every other game but I think it was worth it for that alone.
