I don't know much about this conflict, who are the fighting sides?
Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Who's winning?
No one
What are they fighting about?
Nothing.
So, like the G.I. Joes and the C.O.B.R.A.S., then?
literally no country is irrelevant
Kekistan.
that's a turd thing to say
This is what modern war looks like.
How can the Houthis win this?
Hegemony in the region.
By praying to Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, to finally sink the US into the sea already.
Sunni vs. Sha
By playing it defencivly until SA is bankrupt
...
Shi'a is basically just a fanclub that got way out of hand.
RT filmed these wymin and children decrying Saudi bombs.
glorious Kalishnikovs
Hot damn Yemen is based af
Oh, that fuckin' thing. They should all just become fedora tippers and be done with it.
Why were Saudis supporting Communists against the US and why did Green Libya align with the US on this matter?
Fetishizing niqabis is pretty orientalist TBH.
North Yemen = Shias
South Yemen = Sunnis
Iran literally doesn't have the resources it would need to fund the Houthis like the CIA does the FSA or ISIS.
Houthis have already shown resilience, I really think they can win the war of attrition
Where's your sense of aesthetics?
It's still fucked up to fetishize Yemeni women, especially ultra-religious ones who specifically feel theological needs to cover their bodies.
the stalinstache saying based isn't fetishizing them
Dude shut the fuck up. The only thing being fetishized is women's power. We support them regardless of what they wear you dumb liberal.
Maybe you should not listen to fucking wikipedia.
Seriously, what the fuck happened with that
What is wiki lying about here?
The news reporting on Yemen has been some of the worst in modern history, it is one of the most-suppressed news items ever. All the human rights orgs and NGOs published ridiculously low death counts (ten or twenty thousand) two years ago and have NEVER updated them. Similarly, recently there were reports that the famine in Yemen "COULD BECOME" a genocide (with only 100k or so dead), when IN REALITY, THERE MUST ALREADY BE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS KILLED.
America must be destroyed.
I'm saying get some real fucking info.
As you're so well informed please provide "some real fucking info" to us plebs.
I'm asking which info isn't real, so I can get some real fucking info. Do you have some real fucking info?
So actually ask, don't accept the basic assertions of a box on wikipedia.
This is the third time I'm asking. Do you have some info?
If he had info, he'd obviously have given it by now.
Man, the first half of this thread is completely incomprehensible. Friendly reminder to go to >>>/leftpol/ if you don't want this kind of over-moderated censoring shit.
learn to take a joke [clapping hands between words]
wew
its a revolution against asaudi invasion and their puppet goverment, but noone here cares because because western MSM doesent talk about it
link?
aljazeera is owned by X country. if X country changes its relations with Y country then AJ will do the same with reporting on Y country.
This is a Houthi board dude, it's a war of national liberation, this is the clearest cut example of the people against porky in modern history.
you mean a houthi thread?
most people on here dont know what the war is about.
plus Holla Forums would also be a "houthi board" by your logic
Are the Houthi socialist, or just want to replace their porky?
They aren't socialist but they are anti-imperialist.
Fuckin nerds(USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST)
Speaking of, I see most socialists endorsing the Houthis, but the only socialist-affiliated group in Yemen (the Southern Movement) is allied with the Hadi-led government.
Can someone explain?
are you retarded or what, you cannot be an anti-imperialist capitalist
Being against the largest imperial force in the world as a capitalist only means you hope to see your own forces become the major imperialist power(USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST)
For a time the Houthis were allied to ex president saleh, who purged the shit out of the socialist party and commited a lot of war crimes when taking over socialist south yemen, so the Southern movement are fighting against the Houthis because they hate Saleh. Recently tho the houthis did kill Saleh after he betrayed them.
Welp, some retard mod is going apeshit again.
Oh, of course, it's the BO, who has consistently shown to not have the faintest clue what imperialism is and to ban anyone who says anything bad about Assad or glorious Salafi jihadists.
I'm guessing they are all dead and buried, or in hiding. The Saudi puppets there hardly rank as communists.
The question is will grudges lead to conflict if not in ideology, but also under simple personal conflict as well.
Salafi jihadists are anti-Iran, anti-Syrian gov, anti-Hezbollah, and anti-Houthi. How would criticizing them get you banned?
Hold out until the Southern Movement splits off from the Saudi Coalition and takes over the non-AQ sections of South Yemen.
In case I'm banned for that, I'm not saying it's good, but it's the only outcome in which the Supreme Revolutionary Committee remains in power in the North.
They aren't. You fell for the bait.
But I'm wondering what's the explanation for this as well.
anglosphere leftists in a nutshell
he doesent know what hes talkin about. look at his flag
...
Someone report the vol for capitalist apologism.
it was BO
I am not surprised by this at all.
Why so many deleted comments?
I'm not giving the Houthi's strategic advice, I'm pointing out the only scenario in which the Saudis don't starve the Yemenis in Houthi territory till they're all dead.
I'm also not white or American fam
There’s pretty big protests in Aden from southern separatists against Hadi right now
twitter.com
the top brass is trying to pressure eachother knowing that neither side can afford losing allies. even if something like more infighting happens youll just have more sides, the thinking there is far from "my enemys enemy my firend".
AKA whats happening in syrias Idlib right now
...
...
The southern separatists called for the Saudi backed government to be overthrown earlier today t.co
What brainlet came up with that idea?
...
Well first not everyone in the southern front is a red, and even those who are, hate the houthis wonder how’s this will turn out
Any guesses on weather southern front might fight the saudis and the houthis at the same time or will they put aside differences
bump
Redpill me on the Houthis. What is their ideology? Are they just ethnic separatists/nationalists? Shiite Islamists?
Y’all mod niggas need some Connolly.
anarkiddies everyone
Read Lenin. You cannot be capitalist and genuinely anti imperialist at the same time except in the very immediate short term. All capitalist countries will eventually develop imperialist interests. Read Lenin.
wew that's a very big if. almost as if Lenin AND Marx both explicitly gave their support to non-socialist national liberation movements….
Nigga you wrong as hell, re-read where Lenin said that 'For example, if tomorrow, Morocco were to declare war on France, India on England, Persia or China on Russia, and so forth, those would be “just”, “defensive” wars, irrespective of who attacked first; and every Socialist would sympathise with the victory of the oppressed, dependent, unequal states against the oppressing, slaveowning, predatory “great” powers.'
marxists.org
Anyone wanting a summary of the conflict:
Yemen has been effectively the only state to have a genuine 'arab spring' that wasn't externally influenced. The population was sick of the kleptocratic Saudi-Alligned government stealing wealth at the expense of the rest of the population.
Different factions rose up and vied for power, in 2015 the Ansurallah 'Houthi' government effectively carried out a popular mass insurrection and installed a people's committe in the capital Sana'a. Overthrowing the Saleh Regime.
Saudi Arabia organised a coalition with the other gulf states to support their puppet Hadi in the southern region's capital Aden. Since 2015 Saudi Arabia has been conducting humanitarian warfare by targetting schools, farms, reservoirs, airports, ports indiscriminately. They have effectively caused one of the worst humanitarian disasters with currently one million Yemeni's struggling with cholera and starvation.
The Houthis are a religious faction similar to Hezbollah, they are a progressive force in the region and have the mass support of their constituency. They are conducting an extremely difficult yet successful guerrilla war in the mountains against a multi hundred billion dollar imperialist war machine.
This really isn't a question about minute details. All socialists should support the Houthis.
This is literally the opposite of the truth. Saleh was overthrown in 2011, Hadi took power, and the Houthis aligned with Saleh to overthrow Hadi. The Houthis and Saleh were allies until December of last year
You're correct, Successful insurrection occured in late 2014/ early 2015. Saleh was 'officially' out of power in 2012 handing over to Hadi but was still defacto running the country from backstage. Significant sections of the military, especially those who controlled the equipment and infrastructure were loyal to Saleh. This was why Houthis opportunistically aligned with Saleh at the time.
Hadi has little support even in the south and the majority of the forces fighting against the Houthis are not native Yemenis but composed of the Gulf coalition and mercenaries.
...
Fucking based islamist jihadist fighting anti imperialist war against USA and Saudi Arabia.
Mods truly are the cancer of this board.
Southern Separatists seizing government buildings in Aden it’s happening.
What are you talking about? The Houthis aren't "islamic jihadists" and SA has worked with Ansar al-Sharia throughout the conflict.
link please, I want to read
Most English speaking news don’t have much detail so I have to use an Al Jazeera link sorry lol aljazeera.com
Why would the UAE be backing communists?
Yes they were seen as beneficial to the socialist cause in the short term, but as capitalist countries they would inevitably become imperialist or accomplices of imperialism. Supporting NatLib is literally pointless unless you support socialist agitation immediately afterwards.
They're not communists though, South Yemen hasn't had communists since 1990 sadly
I don’t have a problem with tactical support for non-socialist NatLib movements, but the second that support enters the territory of opposing actual revolutionaries (like when ☭TANKIE☭s denounce Iranian communists) then you are going full retard. It also goes without saying that a socialist NatLib movement deserves our support infinitely more than a non-socialist one.
I'm a bit confused, but Houthis and South Yemen secessionists have common enemy as Saudi occupiers and will most likely work together in the future. This lays ground work for a possible future socialist south yemen and maybe north if Houthi implement some good economic reforms idk
I was more speaking to the tactics of NatLib and socialism in general than Yemen’s situation specifically, but in general I’m sympathetic to the Houthis since even though Iran is a deeply reactionary state, they are significantly less cancerous than the Saudis. Isn’t the South Yemeni movement aligned with the official government though?
No haha, South Yemeni's are currently in the process of overthrowing the 'official' Hadi government in the southern capital Aden
Because the UAE doesn’t like the Muslim brotherhood, who support Hadi
The socialist party did revolt in 1994 in South Yemen. It didn’t just die at unification
This tbqh.
It's pretty much impossible to tell how much influence the YSP has in the Southern Movement though.

Pro Hadi Prime Minister got captured. Separatists seem to be winning in Aden
Are Hirak actually /ourguys/ or is it just nostalgia + regionalism? Still glad they're putting up a fight in Aden, can't be worse than Hadi and his Saudi puppetmasters.
THE FIRE RISES
Are Islamists the trots of the far-right?
yes
ADEN (Reuters) - Southern Yemeni separatists took control of the port city of Aden after two days of fighting, residents said on Tuesday, confining the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to the presidential palace.
