I'm pretty certain that book is just fake feelgood "antifascism" eg pacifism and civil disobedience not militias and sabotage.
So long as the American left keeps endorsing gun control and shitting all over people who want to freely carry weapons, they're going to keep losing because they are allowing fascists to have a monopoly on violence. This is extremely self destructive if not outright collaboration.
