So, is there hope for us?
All around us we can see decay. We can see the Earth rotting around us as porky and his unsustainable markets devour what resources are left. We can see the ever growing influence of liberalism and the total subordination of the proletariat to capital. The nature of capital is not even questioned by the first world workers, and in the third world the workers are variously starving to death, just trying to survive, or resorting reactionary and religious rather than socialist ideals. There no longer is (and many would say, ever was) any socialist state to spearhead the revolution.
The USSR has been dismantled completely and the biggest “communist” party left is essentially a conversative nationalist party, the eastern bloc has been completely wiped away too. China is, without a doubt, irretrievably lost to revisionism. No, I wouldn’t even call it revisionism. The whole party has been totally subverted, it has been completely destroyed in all but name. The African socialist countries were short lived, the DPRK is completely lost to total revisionism, Cuba is questionable.
In the first world, anti-Communism is still strong, and the latest self-proclaimed socialist leaders are nothing but opportunistic SocDems. The youth are growing frustrated with capitalism, but it seems as all their discontent will just be redirected into Social Democracy.
Trade unions have been completely neutered, there is no socialist international worthy of being a true successor to the fourth international, the state continues to grow in its technological ferocity. Is it over? Was the 20th century the century that really counted and we fucked it all up? Have we lost and by the time we can rebound, we will be living in technofascism or the earth will be uninhabitable? Is there any hope left?
Oh, and merry Christmas.
