It's worth revisiting the Cville attack because I've still been keeping up with it and want to share newish information. One thing to keep in mind is that neo-Nazi tactics have long relied on "lone wolf" attackers to carry out attacks under the purview of "legitimate" groups. These "legit" groups can then distance themselves from the "illegitimate" actor, avoiding the legal repercussions and state pressure which have destroyed far-right groups in the past.
I strongly suspect James Fields, the Cville attacker, was acting under orders from his larger network. Many alt-righters not in-the-know however don't believe this, or believe he was working for the feds because none of them professed knowing anything about him. He came out of nowhere and carried out a terror attack. But they're wrong. People in the crowd did know him. And they knew he was up to something.
One of the Daily Stormer guys still has an hour-and-a-half of unedited video from Cville on his YouTube page the "Krypto Report." Fields marched out with him and the rest of the Vanguard bloc. You can see Fields pop up again and again in these videos. But at 38:10 in part two…
… a voice says "hold on for a second" and the camera pauses on Fields, who is dead center of frame. Two seconds later a finger points in Fields' direction and the same voice says "pointing at that guy." This was after they had exited the park and were boarding their vehicles to leave.
We also know that someone moved barricades that blocked the street where Fields gunned it. "The sawhorse barricade blocking 4th Street was moved by unknown persons" per the independent report.
Anyways, I think their plot was a failure, but I think it was a plot. You'll see comments on alt-right sites wishing he had killed more – which I think was the plan. I don't think the cars blocking the street which Fields plowed into were in the plan, and those cars may have saved lives. So the result is that they produced a lone martyr without the big-time bodycount they were hoping for. Anyways, this makes me wonder what dirt / comms the feds have on the leadership.

The group recruits, encourages or directs a member to carry out an attack which they can then "plausibly" distance themselves from. Matthew F.
