Ok, less sarcastically the senators that attached their name to this shit did so because they're obligated to people who aren't their constituents. With a few exceptions, these people are not senators or evangelical strongholds. They're doing this because they're paid well to.

But that's what Israel is for. A bunch of Jews want to live on a piece of land previously occupied by Muslims and the fantastic security apparatus of Israel allows them to do it free from persecution :^)

Unless you're really going to start shilling the idea that "Palestine" is somehow going to bring communism… or Israel, for that matter. What I'm saying is neither of them are necessarily on the verge of implementing communism.

In the best case scenario, I would see Palestine becoming nominally socialist, if not some weird kind of fascist or authoritarian state that is rabidly pro-Islam (again, a travesty if you are a real socialist and not some douche that shills religions under some deluded notion that they are "secretly communist" and therefore revolutionary).

it's not so much palestine as it is the whole nation state concept. for the purposes of building communism, it's a necessary evil, i truly believe that. i'm no anarchist. but these people who ignorantly shill nations and borders with no clear socialist program are the true cancer on the left. it's what gave us shit like china… vietnam… cuba… i could go on and on, but these mistakes need to stop being made and i feel like a broken record mentioning that kind of stuff.

if people want to support the palestinians, sure, they should do it, but the whole pretext of it being the start of something more than a nation state to protect Muslims is what bothers me. I readily plead ignorance about your statements here. I don't know Hamas well enough to judge, I was basing my comment on the middle east as a whole. Too often people support political islam as some kind of 'revolutionary' movement in the name of anti-imperialism and are always surprised when it turns into some horribly reactionary shit where they treat women like 2nd class citizens.

I see this as a problem with all religions, though. For some reason it feels like the majority of lefties have tried to appease religious nutters instead of showing them why that stuff is just a bad idea to begin with. It's odd and I will never support it… but I've seen this happen with people more than once where they placate islam or christianity under some claim of "revolutionary potential"… its always really dumb to watch.
