A weak point of many Leftists (including me) is the distinction between personal vs private property, including what kind of property rights apply to personal property and why. Whenever it is argued poorly it makes you look like a dumbass, so I'm looking for some good texts talking about the distinction, defining it, and justifying personal property.

Read Hegel, stop arguing about that and define what can be property instead.

Private property is economic, it's not that complicated.

personal property is a meme used by tankies and closeted tankies to justify their economic centralization

all property is theft, based on that, a central power thaclaim property ownership over an entity is no different from a capitalist

Here's a prominent leftist scholar articulating the basic premise

Fucking anarkiddies.

That doesn't explain what kind of property rights apply to personal property, or how it is claimed.

But of course that brings up the Mutualist memes about leaving your house for the afternoon and someone new taking possession of it. What kind of grace period is there, and why?

Personal property is your direct property. Private property is property you own, and someone else works it. That's what I use, don't see any glaring holes.

skip the nonsense. read rafiq instead:
" It [the abolition of property - communism] does indeed apply to all kinds of ownership. The Communists seek the abolition of private [/"personal] property as such."

If you own a farm that only you work on, it's still private property i think.
I thought private property was just a synonym for the MoP in a market economy

What? If you own a farm that only you work on, you 100% deserve everything that farm produces. Unless their is a need for food, and then your extra food will be redistributed.
MoP can totally be personal property, if you work them yourself. For example a lawnmower, if I mow my lawn, then my mower is personal property. If I have John mow lawns for me, and I take some of the money he gets, it is private property.
If I pay John to mow my lawn, it is personal property. This is the only one I'm not 100% certain about.

closeted tankie

go read a book you stupid "anarcho-nihilist"

just use "possession" and "property"

I dunno, my shorthand is essentially if you don't use it yourself, it's definitely private property. The guy who owns a factory, most of the time, isn't working the line himself with a bunch of friends because they want things. He hires people for set hourly or monthly wages and gets them to make stuff for him to sell on the market for an increase in value that is not realized by the workers who produced that increase.

So, how about a family farm? Well, presumably, the family that owns it is actually using it to produce food for themselves and perhaps to exchange for other goods they need to maintain their homestead and improve their living conditions. This is personal property. When the property is so big that they have to do like the factory owner and hire people to do the work for wages so that they can extract that sweet surplus value? Then it's private property.

Does ownership through use also apply to possessions? If not, why not? How do you differentiate between personal property like land or equipment and possessions, especially when certain things like cars or laptops can be used economically?

its a meme you dip

I tend to think it does. With these examples I'd say the car and the laptop are personal property because personal use supersedes potential as productive property. Though in general there should be fewer personal cars and much more public transportation, that's sort of another topic altogether.

A person should not be able to own land forever.

I dunno, I think it'd be kinda shitty if the things I bought/produced with my labor no longer belonged to me because I didn't use them for too long. Especially things of a sentimental value.

I don't actually believe in a "time lapse" to ownership. The joke was meant to refer to "property in absence" as a concept (imagine telling a boss or property owner "if you're not the one who uses this you don't get to keep it"), it's not literally the same exact meaning.

Not user from before. I guess I could agree, but then again, what non-trivial object would you have to keep for sentimental value? Most of the things I keep that have sentimental value, are either small objects of no real use to anyone (pieces of petrified wood my uncle gave me before he passed away, for example) or they're things I also use (like a car).

If I have a working car with sentimental value (was left to me by my father), why would I get a new one (as an example)?

You can't kill people over objects, simple as that, let alone construct an entire moral sister around it
Personal vs private property is not the argument

This.

All property… is not theft.

oh you understood the most basic concept of socialism would you like a meddle? I guess anarkiddies like Proudhon just didn't understand property either

Literally every leftcom I talk to thinks the soviet unions was good and proletarian and heading to socialism so…

I spy a definition war.

Liberals refer to 'property' as being the legal construct of private property and also being immediately-controlled objects, with some socialists saying that they'll attack the former. Meanwhile, 'Stirnerites' refer to 'property' as that which is used and controlled by individuals instead of using the liberal definition. Rafiq refers to it as 'ownership' as a whole, with liberal 'ownership' being a socially-recognised definition which is inherently reactionary and superfluous in a revolutionary society.

I advise you to discard the spooks and the 'natural' argument before your analyses. In the meantime, have a Stirner-themed screenshot which briefly discusses ownership as a whole despite beginning with identity politics and a much bigger image of Rafiq's posts from the page linked in .

Forgot the Stirner-themed screenshot.

Wat? Everyone needs personal property, you cant live without this.

My enemas are pretty simple. I am a FFer so I want and need a deep, total cleanout. I want my ass clean for 12 hours if need be.
use a fleet enema bottle. Just my preference. I use the larger size, there is a very small fleet enema that can be used but it requires several more bottles shot up my ass. The larger size 5oz is quicker. I shoot 4 of those up my ass. I then get down on all 4's. I then drop down on my shoulders while keeping my ass high in the air and let that water run deep in my colon. Trust me, this will take practice as you will have the major urge to release it.
For the sake of keeping your bathroom floor clean, STAY NEAR YOUR TOILET! You will have a major urge to release but it will subside if you can hold it. I then stand up and shoot 4 more(another 20oz) of water up me and yes it gets really hard to hold it in but I once again get down on my shoulders, ass up and let that water run deep in my colon.
By that point I am SO FUCKING ready to release. It feels so good to plop down on the toilet and let that eruption go from my ass. I feel like it cleanses my soul!
I gently push all the water out. BUT IN NO WAY AM I FULLY CLEANED OUT YET. The worst has yet to come out and needs to be lured out. That nasty shitty water that if not cleaned out will likely come out while later getting fucked.
Inserting a dildo makes quick work of luring out all of that shitty nastiness. As deep as you can take the dildo will lure out the water faster. Any good bottom at that point should be inserting a dildo, just for hole prep for fucking. It is a good way to open up your hole anyway, to get it ready for a good hard cock pounding.
But it also serves the purpose of luring out that final shitty water. IMO I can't get that dirty water out unless I insert a dildo for a few minutes. While I insert the dildo, I hold it in and brush my teeth, shave etc and get ready for the shower. I leave the dildo in for at least 10 minutes while brushing teeth etc. I pull it out and out comes the remaining dirty water. One more quick fleet bottle to rinse and into the shower I go.
It takes me 10 minutes to enema and push it out. Another 10 minutes or so of dildoing to get the water out while prepping, shaving etc.
I can be fully enemad, showered and out the door in under an hour and be 100% confident of my hole being clean for up to 12 hours after the enema.
