Nebulously socialist, I drift around the non-tankie ideologies but I think the environment is the most important shit.
No fun allowed?
Good taste in music, way too fucking old to fall for the "yeah I'm a socialist but I'm still fucking EDGY" ideology
I'm 19.
These have been on my mind a lot lately. ACLAM is my AOTYSF, but it's not really entertainment. However, it changed me a lot.
Hell, Hounds of Love and Chocolate and Cheese oughta be on here too.
Not quite the glowing pt.2 but is fucking good. Unironically cry everytime
I listened to some cuts off of The Glow pt. 2 about a month ago on a road trip after not listening to it for a while and was absolutely enthralled. Beautiful album.
ACLAM is just fucking heart-breaking. I saw Phil perform it live (+ 2 new songs called "Distortion" and "Tintin in Tibet" if you're interested) and found it extremely affecting.
Too hard to name, throughout the week I do "protein listening" where I try a bunch of new shit. All time favorites are Funhouse, Hot Animal Machine, and Revolutionary Vol. 2.

21, Classical Marxist
At least, that's all I can call myself, ideologically speaking. I'm a strong believer in the communist cause, but I struggle a bit with reading, and I feel like I need to finish some Marxist basics, particularly the Manifesto, before I can look into further theory. Can anyone here please help me out?
I have no favorite album, but these are the few i can stand from start to finish
Also, yea. 21, luxemburgist

Nice fucko, you could have done worse but St. Vincent a superior musical waifu.
I might look into it, thanks. I don't listen too much music these days, just cited Grimes since it's one of the only recent ones I listen to by album, not by single songs on YT.

Pentastar slays
Wow, that's sad.
If you like Grimes, you should try Kate Bush, Chvrches, and The Cocteau Twins. Maybe Phantogram.
Try listening to at least 2 new albums a week. I recommend Spotify because you can also save individual songs that you liked, even if most of the album was mediocre, which is very often the case.
Good luck, newcomrade.
...
Personalities are a bourgeoisie lie anyway fagmaster of ceremonies.
I appreciate the recs, I'll look up some of those. Not gonna lie, my tastes are not all that patrician, but I have plenty of time to acquire more defined tastes.
I just remembered that one album from this group Chromatics from Italians Do It Better label is pretty good, but I really don't want to pay for music, so I either use pirate bay or YT currently, but Spotify seems like a good idea in the future to get into.
top tier taste, man!
Spotify is free, unless you pay to remove the ads. I don't. It's annoying, but I did the YouTube thing when I was younger and much prefer Spotify.
I'm also somewhat familiar with Chromatics. "Cherry" is one of my favorite night-driving songs.
I can't believe I forgot Bjork. I think you might like Bjork and maybe Xiu Xiu if you like Grimes, although these are usually more experimental with less pop appeal.

Crystal Castles is really old new by now, but they're first two albums fit that somewhat experimental electronic-pop-with-a-female-lead niche.

How do you define state?
I'm always sort of curious about what causes Holla Forumsyps to go from 'communism=literally hell on earth' to being at least open to the idea.
Was it some sort of specific event/person or a gradual process?
10/10
I don't think it's that hard to fathom, they're just racists that don't really give a shit about any other government or economic policies aside from race issues.
Despite it not being hard to fathom you didn't answer my question at all.
institution with a police, military, and borders that typically is responsible for making and enforcing laws and foreign relations
such an institution should be wholly transparent and democratic, should respect freedom of speech even for opponents, and should provide a mechanism for secession, ofc, but I do think having one is necessary even beyond the ML "deter aggression" schtick to do things like channel resources into research and infrastructure (which will be required for eternity, not stopped) instead of allowing something akin to consumerism to flourish, and encourage the development of public morals
If you ask me, it was mostly the fact that I couldn't really distinguish between neoliberalism and communism and thought that SJ is a left-wing movement. Once I learned that there are left-wing people around that, while not bigoted, are opposed to idpol obsessions, this made it easier for me to accept left-wing ideas. When I previously was into fascism, I slowly grew to hate basic bitch paleoconservatism and started to think that fascism is literally just socdem + racism. When I learned that fascists are willing to give no consideration to left-wing ideas, I begun to look that it's not only basic bitch conservatives that are retarded, but also the nazis, for being close-minded.
Then later I learned from lurking here that all this xenophobic/anti-feminism/anti-semitic/deus-vult bullshit is flawed and does not take into account the history of exploitation, and snapped out of it.
I am still just merely starting to get into leftism, but currently I am in the process of still trying to despook myself from right-wing ideas, to debunk them properly for myself, so I don't fall back in ever again.
even when you are old and stupid i think we can be friends
Well I figured you could connect the dots, between the two points on your own but a lot of /pol;/sters come here and essentially say they're okay with a welfare state/liberalism/socialism/communism etc but that race is "too serious" of an issue to ignore. So they essentially blind themselves to every other aspect of state and economics until I assume one day they realize it isn't that important or that they can walk and chew gum at the same time and advocate for multiple things without comprising on another.
I am and and can confirm
good people

As for ideology, I would call myself a mildly authoritarian socialist, haven't read enough theory though.
not that old, just been into politics for an extremely long time. since I was 12 back in the early 90s.
I was right-wing up until five years ago. still a nationalist though. I'd describe my ideology as something like a mix of primitivism, military despotism and libertarian socialism.
same, only replace libertarian socialism with market socialism
b-but you guys will yell at me for supporting market socialism
Its because they suck
I didn't realize there was a difference. I mean my ideology is pretty out there. Basically Titoism with the added danger of the Republic Of Congo
I usually just say I'm an an-syn but I need to read more tbqh and I've always been shit at picking a favorite album but these are the ones I've probably been listening to the most recently.
I do also listen to a lot of the stereotypical "folk-punk" lefty shit like The Levellers and Billy Bragg but thats mostly at festivals and the like where I think the atmosphere makes the music.
I personally do not find the point in avoiding music and dismissing it as consumerist shite because while it has been effected by capitalism it existed beforehand and it will exist after.
my nibba
suprised nobody have mentioned any punk bands, i mean i kinda did with crywank. do that count?

i haven't seen any of those albums before

Really digging BBNG 3 at the moment too.
I was gonna post some Chaos UK and Varukers too
ugh, indie rock. the only good indie is AmRep noise rock and some Touch & Go bands. the rest is trash.
.>>1874770
Discordance Axis is a 3-piece mathy grindcore band whose lyrics draw inspiration from Evangelion. Most intense screams you'll ever hear.
I Am a Lake of Burning Orchids can most easily be labeled "noisegaze" although I remember someone calling it "dreamo" which also sticks somewhat.
Royal Trux is a strung-out noise rock band from the late 80s & 90s. Cats and Dogs is sort of their breakthrough album because it was their first release with coherent riffs and clean production. I still recommend listening to Twin Infinitives because it's hard to find music where the performers' minds sound more completely wrecked.
Long Fin Killie is a post-rock band with tracks that have D&B-esque drumming and falsetto vocals. The lead singer was the only black dude (also gay iirc) on the island he grew up on off the coast of Scotland.
Shaking the Habitual takes The Knife's oddball synthpop in a more outright experimental direction through drones and a generally more eclectic sonic palette. Lyrics have a lot to do with queer theory.
hope u rike the albums
good taste
i will check them out
+ innocence is probably the best lake of burning orchids release to start with ok im done now
23, ex an-syn but more of liberterian socialist or something idk
good & cool
i don't understand how anyone can still like STH but I Am a Lake of Burning Orchids is cool
kind of entry-lvel and 'lame' but still cool
little bits of Marxism-Leninism, Trotskyism and Left-Communism/Luxemburgism glued together. I guess you could just call me a Leninist or something, but I rank his much analytical work higher than his prescriptive work.
I can't put these in an order. I love every album OP posted though.
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
美尾洋乃 - Chloé
The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy
Carissa's Wierd - You Should Be at Home Here

Thanks for sharing fam, it brings blood to my penis when right wingers begin to study communist theory with intellectual honesty. My best advice is for the most part avoid labels and eat merrily from the trashcan of ideology.
and read Zizek
Thank you too! I am not studying theory atm since I am kinda busy with other stuff but I'll get to it. Fascism is 100% a war ideology, every way I tried to look at it, no matter how you implement fascism, every logical conclusion of this ends up in "WE NEED LEBENSRAUM REEE". I fucking hate stupid shit like that, I don't want to die in another nationalist war like WWI.
Over forty, marxist
That album was ingenius. From just a music theory standpoint it was incredibly sophisticated, and "Raining Blood" is easily among the greatest heavy metal songs of all time. Reign in Blood changed music.
Yeah don't worry about it, most of leftypol hasn't studied either. They'll get around to it too.
Fascism is truly a war ideology. I understand it as a sort of conservative revolution - a return to previous (and imagined simpler) times where the "us and them" is clearly drawn up in race/nationality/gender etc. A percieved time where waging war was just "nature bruh", and not the product of complex economic relations.
It doesn't help either with all these orcs vs humans games polluting the youth!
Can feel myself going a bit off tangent here, so I'll just take a sec to laugh at that picture. Coming from Denmark myself and knowing what a total retard Søren Espersen is, this is too good.
24, unironic egoism, bad boys listen to dubstep
I agree. Raining blood is imho one of the quintessential metal songs. Also it's crazy how the music in the album perfectly reflects the feelngs of terror in the lyrics. A lot of people say it's not "varied" enough but holy shit I mean there is for example the beginning of jesus saves that's almost sludge/doom
gr8 choice that album is just so beautiful
Perhaps critics were expecting long self-indulgent passages like Metallica likes to play? There were constant variations in tempo and theme that really kept the album engaging without giving up the relentlessness that characterizes thrash. It is a pity that so few bands afterward ever attempted that kind of complexity.
Top tier metal classics. Also fellow old guy, hey!

not the best BoC but I like your endtroducing
"Stargazer" is an incredible song, even if Dio was right about it being overly indulgent. I love how they make a mythical allegory for a loss of faith into a tragedy that expesses the pain associated with the actual process. It is not a euphoric liberation of the mind but rather the shocking and agonizing destruction of a part of one's self, and it leaves you lost and without puropse. "My eyes are bleeding, and my heart is weeping."
sehr gut. fan of BoC, Residents and GG Allin
"It's not my revolution if I can't be EDGY"
xiu xiu is good, not familiar with the other stuff
obscure/10. Mensch-Maschine is classic. Also Coltrane and King Tubby are good stuff
literally not familiar with any of these, tbh
best pink floyd album
i luv s.o.d.
wow thanks bruv, i'll have to watch these when I have hours to spare
MEIN NEGER rite here. grew up on Anal Cunt/Neubauten/SPK. I bet we'd get along
I was actually a communist first, then Holla Forums warped my mind. Always remained economically left, butted heads with them over 'muh free market'. tbh, both sides are autistic and frustrating, which I chalk up to extremist ideologies naturally attracting eccentric weirdos.
SLAYERRRRRR
Foetus is great, bretty good list
Bjork's debut is my absolute favorite from her- i like how it's more 'house' than her other stuff, Brown Book is my 2nd favorite DiJ album
pretty cool dad metal
kvlt as fvck, got some classic BM on there, but Ulver is patrician
sehr gut, like ambient works II and that's the best Throbbing Gristle album
pretty cool, like cannibal corpse
30, Egocom
Haha, yes. But who gives a fuck? Varg wouldn't though. He's repeatedly stated that he hates capitalists more than communists.
Some good stuff man. Brand New is like the only Alternative Rock band I can listen to, besides Killing Joke.
Immortal Technique is good, but some parts are really cringey.
Sarcofago is funny, Brazilian Thrash/Death bands are always extremely heavy
Flag checks out
Albums:
Evgeni Koroliov - The Art of Fugue

Thanks m8 :) I love The Wall, both as an album and a movie. Best damn rock opera I know.
I have been meaning to look into their other albums besides that and Dark Side of the Moon, so I don't look like a normalfag who only likes the more popular Pink Floyd albums. Is Animals worth looking into? That one always intrigued me from afar.
One of the images broke.
My taste is all over the place, maybe Laughing Stock? My ideology pretty much mirrors my taste, whatever is the most effective at establishing socialism during revolution.
24, Leftcom with Christcom leanings
I also really like various old-school EDM variants (freestyle, detroit techno, etc.) and post-disco, but these are singles based so there's not much to be said.
Other albums I like:
John Fahey - "Days Have Gone By", "The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death"
Earth Wind & Fire - "Raise!"
Steely Dan - "Gaucho"
Black Sabbath - "Vol. 4", "Sabotage"
Herbie Hancock - "Mr. Hands" (unfortunate name nowadays), "Headhunters"
YMO - "BGM", "Solid State Survivor"
Deep Purple - "Machine Head"
Death from Above 1979 - "You're a Woman, I'm a Machine"
Jean-Phillipe Rameau - "Pieces de Clavecin en Concerts"
John Cale - "Paris 1919"
The Beach Boys - "Pet Sounds"
Sleep - "Sleep's Holy Mountain"
Kraftwerk - "Electric Cafe", "Computer World"
John Martyn - "One World", "Solid Air"
The Smithereens - "Especially for You"
Blue Oyster Cult - "Fire of Unknown Origin"
Bjork - "Debut"
Don't know all of them, but damn, that's one hell of a good taste.
Why is speedcore so awesome?
21, Egoist Anarchist
Discordance Axis, Gridlink, Burzum, Weakling, Gorguts and Atheist are my favorite bands.
I bet you're the kind of guy who whines all day long about "post-modernism" without realizing how post-modern his worldview — a inconsistent bricolage of disparate ideologies — actually is.
Holy fuck you are me
256
anarcho-dwarfism
your all shit.
Inalienable dreamless is top tier all memes aside
Nasenbluten is good
Good list tbh
Currently listening to this. Also has anyone ever heard gaust's s/t?
Good taste, I have some of his shit on vinyl.
How do I get a non pleb tier taste in music?
I meant Faust, the german band, not "gaust"
morkcyst-lebanist, soon to be at an age that doesn't incite laughter from others on image boards. i like minimal synth (+ hypnagogic pop, zolo, post-punk), post-hardcore (+ midwest emo, math rock, post-rock), and noise (+ industrial, musique concrete).
my second favorite xiu xiu album. do you like any of their other releases? fabulous muscles + dear god i hate myself are probably their most 'accessible' releases, both really good, but their discography is so diverse, i think everyone interested in their more popular work should still check the rest of their material out, even if they're not used to experimental music. i mean, don't just dive into the collaborations they did with merzbow or anything, but listen to knife play and fag patrol, then go from there. for some reason i never could enjoy radiohead.
you have the same exact taste of a really terrible person i know. but i'm sure you're alright. i liked that crywank album.. but i keep it a secret.
YES! holy hell. do you have a RYM? i love all these albums. i really didn't expect to see any of these here. amazing.
Too lazy to look for images so here's a list
-Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
-The Clash - London Calling
-Refused - Shape of Punk to Come
-Sleater Kinney - Dig Me Out
Libertarian Marxist
i liked Long Fin Killie, the other wasn't really my kind of music
okay tier taste
nice music, but you guys are a bit to old to be on boards
someone is rebling
i agree 100%, i got some friends into it. they don't lisen to the lyrics tho
nice taste, been feeling sad latley?
Always am. :)
I've listened to every Xiu Xiu full-length album plus XITSJ's Accordion Solo. I especially like A Promise, Knife Play, and Forget, which I saw them tour for. Their percussionist is insane and Jamie was really pleasant after the show.
I'm not that familiar with Merzbow, but as far as noise goes, I've also been on a bit of a Throbbing Gristle and Wolf Eyes kick lately, but that's more as an object of fascination than, uh, music.
Me neither, actually. OK Computer is an anomaly. Kid A is really good, but has never grabbed me as much. I haven't found their post-Kid A discography any more compelling than "listenable" and I've been trying to get into it for 4 years now.
I just listened to Beat Happening for the first time two weeks ago, and Emergency & I a month before that and enjoyed them both. I don't recognize the others.
I, too, am a closet fan of that Crywank album. God.
sorry to hear :(
Thanka for the thread
19, libertarian Leninism
Leninist
what the fuck do the feds actually have to gain from knowing your favourite albums? The weenies on 4chan have the same tastes too.
YGTD (DG003) is by far the greatest Nasebluten album, followed by We've Got The Balls', 100% No Soul Guaranteed and Not As Good As 100% No Soul Guaranteed (the second of those two is really fucking trashy). I haven't heard Dog Control'' yet.
Most of it is shit; the scene has fragmented and 'speedcore' now is usually quite mediocre next to the crap that they spat out before the millennium was over and a few years after that. United Speedcore Nation released a lot of good shit and ANC was a fucking maniac with his machine-gun beats; he even once released a track in an album which aimed to be a parody of a lot of the speedcore was being released. Lord Lloigor also made some amazing stuff which still gives me cyberpunk shivers no matter how many times I listen to things. The Shadow Serpent and Mind Expander are two of his best. DJ Tron also couldn't do anything wrong; if the guy was alive he'd probably be considering suicide after seeing shit like nightcore.
Noise has been another love of mine, I really like Government Alpha.
Into the gulag.
I enjoy your music.

Gr8 taste. Have you ever heard Bjork's b-side compilation? I never heard it until recently and now I think it has some of her best tracks (Karvel and Play Dead especially)
Hey, that was my favorite album when I was in high school. I really identified with it.
"so ya, thought ya, might like to go to the show…"
Dio is the best! He was redpilled before redpilling was a thing.
19, I'm basically a Marxist-Leninist but not really a very dogmatic one or a tankie
just some albums that came to mind
nice.
I like DG, Earl is ok and Tyler is shit.
my nigga
I like it even tho its a meme tbh. Also thats the best kendrick album.
Hell yeah. I was getting afraid that everyone just kinda forgot about him.
Glad you're a fan of Miles, but have you heard any of his other stuff? Milestones, Kind of Blue, and Bitches Brew tend to be the most loved, but tbh Sketches of Spain, Seven Steps to Heaven, and (my favorite) Miles Ahead deserve a lot more credit.
Hell yeah dude. I like him even more than FlyLo, Shlohmo and others in the genre. His music is just beautiful in a way that's really hard to describe, I love it. It's a shame how underrated he is, and how slow he is at releasing music. I know he's playing shows and doing art exhibitions and stuff but I haven't heard anything about any new music since Estara.
I've listened to Bitches Brew, Live-Evil and some other album I forgot the name of. I'm a complete jazz pleb but I really like KoB, so yeah I really should listen to more of his other stuff.
am a lurking Holla Forumsack but i have to admit this is excellente taste
23, Marxist-Leninist but I'm starting to get into Maoism
This thread needs metal badly.
Took me a long time to get into metal. I blame Post-Grunge for making it unpopular again.
Sleep, Sabbath, and Witchfinder General are the best kind of gateway drug.
Thank you. All of those albums are made by black people btw. Thoughts on that?
>thinking I can't appreciate youtube.com
a cosmopolitan worldview applied to music would argue that dream theater and mf doom are of the same vein and not significantly different.
and before you say so, yes I know kdot is considered pretty white now
That's cool. Just surprising. I used to browse halfchan /mu/ when TPAB dropped. If you praised it you would immediately get a bunch of cuck, we wuz kangz and kill whitey type memes thrown at you. And TPAB is a completely inoffensive album (it's even critical of BLM, etc. at times) and /mu/ is one of the most left wing boards on that site.
politically speaking TPAB was totally par for the course, idk why anyone would expect any different.
musically speaking of course I thought it was great. thundercat's contributions and most of the jazz stuff in general was really well produced. I don't lurk /mu/ much but I guess they just like to circlejerk their esoteric le gems.
He and the brainfeeder guys were the real heroes of that album
Communism will win guys.
