So Holla Forums, what will the future look like?

So Holla Forums, what will the future look like?

Either really good or really bad.

We don't have one.

Like communism

Socialism or barbarism tbh

This is our future timeline, in actual order

Unironically it's going to look like a mash between a Paul Verhoeven satire on the future and Richard Stanley's Hardware in a hundred years

Only Iggy Pop won't be there to announce there isn't any fucking good news

You forgot the final stage.

like this

What happens after the fifth pic?
I remember having a serious discussion with a wannabe anarkist about what the endgame was. Never got a proper answer.

Post-peak oil technology with mass starvation due to desertification of Africa.

That is for the future to decide

Best post for bringing up Hardware

...

A boot stamping on a human face–forever.

FALGSC until virtual reality gets built, then we all live inside the matrix until we go extinct because we dont bother to reproduce. Sentient AIs carry on civilisation.

Environmental disasters will cause widespread flooding and global economic collapse and the last few humans remaining will live out their lives in glorious communism until our the species finally dies out.

DAMN YOU KHRUSHCHEV

cyberpunk or extinction

Human extinction, and not at the hands of transhumanism.

That's the manga with the lesbian robot, right? Good stuff.

Transhumanist Anarchist space piracy.

how do i avoid getting shot by ninjas?

Endless crises, endless suffering

One of these, but if it's the bad ending also add in Water World.

Gonna have to set some bands.

After learning the Bank of England (apparently usually a bellwether in economic thought) has endorsed the post-keynesian view on money creation, I'm tepidly optimistic in the mid term. Unless the potential socdem revival this could trigger does a really good job, we're probably still in a lot of trouble long term if capitalism continues to exist.

Alternatively the pessimistic scenario is that there will be another recession by 2018 but that neoliberalism will not be shaken and will continue. Living standards will keep dropping, public services will continue being destroyed, Porky will keep extracting rent while productive industry leaves the country or shuts it's doors, unemployment will grow even higher, and then we'll all die in the long term again.

apparently there's some reason to have faith in the development of lithium batteries and renewable energy, but the idea of the latter scenario not collapsing entirely when cheap oil is removed (bringing back feudalism or such.) is so horrifying that i don't want to include it in either projection. Thou shalt not suffer a neoliberal society to live.

Okay, imagine every cyberpunk dystopia + automation + global warming

You're going to live rent free, full luxury NEETism, in a high rise apartment with matrix-tier virtual reality system having threesomes with big breasted Draenei whores, and when you aren't busy doing that or roleplaying in VR as a loli, you'll be taking pictures of yourself dressed as a girl.

You hung on pikes by your intestines, tbh. I'd say testicles, but we all know you already gave them up when you unironically believe the stuff you believe.

Yeah I'm so scared of the Kekistani legion

A sized 12 Nike sneaker stomping on a human face, as niggs hoot, and holler "AY WERLSTAR NIGGUH", forever.

mass plagiatrism

which one are you?

...

all the cyberpunk predictions actually came true, so thats why they dont really make cyber punk anymore, if you were to be realistic about the future of the present day i think it would be some sort of post apocalyptic world destroyed by global warming, although the near future is more like some mundane version of cyber punk, also automation, homeless people ruled over by a rich elite with goon squads

the cyberpunk novels were prophetic about the world we live in today, hackers fighting the government, corporate consolidation, rising east asian power, holograms, VR, robots, robotic prosthetic, fascist looking police forces, bio armored soldiers. They never got phones or how mundane life still is, we have all this tech but people use it for cat pictures. I guess it was fun to read cyberpunk novels in the 90's when things were prosperous and it seemed like som far off future. But now we live in it, and never forget cyberpunk novels were always dystopian.

And the worst thing, the fucking worst thing about this cyberpunk reality, is that its the one with no sex bots…..

okay im picturing the future, cable, the radio, are dead, music and movies and podcasts are streamed through the internet, people have full access, anytime, with no ads, they can fast forward, pause, and watch anytime they want. All cars and transportation jobs are self driving. Soldiers run into battle wearing exoskeletons and advanced body armor. There is no physical form of currency and you can pay for things it bitcoin, just swipe a card or use your phone in a self driving car. Virtual reality and holograms are ubiquitous, normal parts of every day life. Hackers and governments controlled by consolidated corporations are in a non stop eternal battle with each other. a lot of the stuff im talking about already exists, but what i am saying here is that it will be more widespread. like no one will watch tv anymore. There will be people with advanced robotic limbs, there will be a subculture that is the beginning of a serious transhuman movement. 3d printers will be in every school, hospital, and there will begin a household enthusiast movement.

This will be the second phase of our cyberpunk dystopic future present. it will accelerate and become more visibly different and concrete. It began on 2000 to 2020.
2020 to about 2040 will be the second phase.

2000 to 2020 was the transition, the beginning, we were still people of the 20th century dealing with the problems of the 21st. But the beginning was there. The corporate dystopia, vr, self driving cars, streaming, etc.

Be careful with that katana, you might end up decapitating yourself.

...

Oh i forgot, there will be mega cities, and the poor will live in slums. and the rich will live in walled off gated communities. And you wont be able to get a job but you could join a gang

We decide.
