The most the Democratic party could do in the best of situations is slow reform. They certainly have no revolutionary potential and working within the bourgeois state is pointless so its basically a worthless organization overall.

...

What do you mean by fix? It's working properly

The Dems are structured to keep the factions the neoliberals are in """coalition""" with almost powerless. The only way to "save" the Dems would be an outright hostile takeover, where the neoliberals were deliberately targeted, campaigned against and replaced by the Left.

And, at that point, you'd have a completely different party anyway, so why not just start a new party?

The only reason to campaign under the Democrat banner is because they can win elections, and the DNC are doing their best to prove that this is no longer the case. In fact, you're more likely to get your campaign sabotaged by DNC apparatchiks if you run to the left as a Democrat than you are to actually be helped in any capacity.

The Democrats are going the way of the Whigs and I say we let them.

Strategically if you wanted to destroy the neoliberals you need to put pressure on them. Which means making them lose, over, and over, and over again. To the point you can bullycide them for being incompetent.
I think the 2020 primaries are going to to be a cluster fuck of progressives, fake progressives, neo liberals, billionaires (thanks trump) all fucking each other in the ass on stage.

Your two choices are to rest away the deathgrip of neoliberal and donor collusion, or to just completely kill the party, i mean like make it die. Start over with the green party or some shit

yes

no

because imo any historical resemblance to a left-of-center platform that the Democrats had only existed because of historical circumstances like the 1930s crisis and are not natural to it. In regular times, pushing left-wing ideas in it would be a long and painful process that would probably cause mass desertion of financial support and the Republicans several consecutive victories before some Dem has the genius idea of "pragmatically moving close towards the Center to steal Republican votes and financial support" and start the same shitty process all over.

so it's waaay too much work for at best a 15-year period of a "reformed" but probably powerless party. With the same amount of effort we can create a proper revolutionary, socialist organization that has a small chance of succeeding and a big chance of pushing both parties to the Left out of fear.

In the US people usually dont care what the policy is they just care about party loyalty. Even if the Dems went full socialist a lot would follow them out of their sense of obligation.

The democrats are diet republicans (now with less racism)
But why buy diet when you can get the real deal?

Republicans dont hide what they want, they are evil, dont care.

The democrats frame themselves as the lesser evil.
There is no such thing as a lesser evil, both parties are evil, its just the democrats pretend to be the good guys, then turn around and bail out banks, so it comes off even more two faced than a republican

hurrrrr your right dude
what is existing infrastructure and name recognition worth anyhow?
might as well whip something up from scratch (I'll design the logo)

With the Democrats?

Nothing. Their infrastructure isn't doing jack shit for them and their name recognition is mostly baggage at this point.

Democratic Party of USA in a nutshell

- Pro Capitalist
- Pro War
- Pro Israel
- Pro Saudi Arabia
- Anti Working Class
- Anti Communist
- Anti Socialist

I don't support killing people for being stupid. But American Politics (Not just the Democratic Party) make me see why Stalin had people shot.

Democrats=weimar era SPD

Left wing only in name

the democrats and republicans are literally the same

they even used to be one party

Even if it could be """""""""saved"""""""" it deserves to rot in hell for what it's done

Enough already. How many times has this been tried?

The most productive thing you can be doing right now is not directly party organizing but instead pushing for electoral reform to get rid of our plurality voting system and move to a system that can actually overcome Duverger's Law. It is the key that unlocks everything.

Funding is instrumental to deciding what is both likely and possible in a major party platform. UK Labour party by contrast gets funding from labor unions and so has to at least superficially make a pass at addressing workers' issues but the Dems have no such "restraint".

Until the Dems can be cut from current billionaire/banking donor base, their policies will never improve meaningfully. Similarly, another major party can't challenge them unless they establish the labor connection that they lack (greens are also a dead end as they are unlikely to ever make this move and will remain seen as individualistic hippies)

Without money how the fuck can they beat anyone?

there is really only one way to fix the democratic party

did you read the rest of his post?

that's a key held by the 'two' parties.

THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

THE PROBLEM IS THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM AND FIRST PAST THE POST VOTING

THIS HAS BEEN A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

They can get money, just from a different base. Democrats can never be reformed in a useful way for socialists unless their funding comes primarily from a workers' interest base (e.g. unions).

Bullshit. Just got to drive the donor class out and use the Democratic party to unite Appalachian union workers, Rustbelt union workers, and inner city poor folks behind a militant leadership. But that can only happen if the current leadership is driven out.

They are beyond saving but trying to fix them is still a better idea than circlejerking over third parties like le greenies

Fuck no. It's not fixable.

...

On this topic Jimmy Dore may be right:

Getting Bernie or a new charismatic leader to build a new movement may be the answer. Although when Henry Wallace ran by himself he only got 3% of the vote.

Tell me this is a screencap from The Simpsons.

FUCKING THIS

Yeah, because Europe does any better.

If we want socialism to actually have a voice in America then we need to take over the Democratic Party. America is stuck with a first past the vote voting system. It's impossible for a third party to win under the current rules. Until voting in America is reformed, the only way for socialism to have any foothold in government is to infiltrate the Democratic Party. Now how we go about doing this I have no idea. The current Democratic Party would rather lose to Republicans then actually become a leftist party.

^The only right answer

Like it or not, but the countries without FPTP have sightly less cancer in politics.

We run candidates against the establishment in Democratic primaries.

...

We did in 2016 but the DNC worked their hardest to stop him from winning.

Could work

Why not, instead, work toward building up SA, CPA, and the Greens? The Dems are and will alwaye be center/center-right.

CPUSA* sorry, typo.

go away FBI

I'm just spitballing. Obviously SA is the only actual socialist party out of them at this time.

there are no socialists in america

It's impossible for a third party to win under the current system.

This is fucking vile.

9% of the working class, fam-a-lam. And that's enough because they're organized, they just need purpose.

unless you want to turn the democratic party into the vanguard establishing a USSA, the idea of international solidarity is imo not compatible with electoral party politics. so no

Funny you should mention it…

protip: it's not going to happen

The aesthetics of these stickers are just vomit with piss tier. How do you fuck up this bad and not hire at least good graphic designers?

That's fine. You can sit in your armchair and watch the rest of us try.
