It's interesting that Colbert made his name pretending to be a conservative pundit during the Obama years, but since then he never has been able to act like a Trump supporter. I really do think that's interesting. Because I don't think he could get into the mindset of the 38% of the the people that still approve of Trump no matter how he tried. Maybe the reason Colbert could easily play a jingoistic dork with huge patriotic blinders on to the suffering of the world is because that's what liberals are pretending they *aren't*.

If you want people to recognize Trump or HRC or anyone else is a symptom of the system writ large, you have to propagandize that yourself. No matter who was president, Colbert et al. are going to push back against the idea that capitalism is the problem. They are going to be animated about this point in a way that will shock you. They will be vicious and unfair and violent. Socialism will not rise up by itself.
