Heres my question. Left coms or anyone else, why is left communism called that? What's the history behind the term?

Did Marx and Engels ever engage in some totally no homo revolutionary best comrades spooning? Is it ever addressed in their letters?

what is Holla Forumss thoughts on subreddits like /r/badeconomics? Are they big brained wojaks or not getting the idea of Marxism

What's your ideology and how do you define capitalism?

Why is she so perfect?

From what i got in the old days it refers to anyone to the left of the Bolsheviks.

In what way are left coms to the left of the Bolsheviks?

I don't know comrade, why isn't she real?

anything on reddit is garbage and so are the people posting on them

Because they could be described as criticizing Bolsheviks from more "left-wing" perspective, for example with their analysis that USSR was capitalist and the critiques of parliamentarian politics, anti-imperialism or self-determination of nations.

Ah, thank you comrades.

I seem to remember a set of annotations where Marx teases Engels about gay rights or something but I cant remember where

should I join the DSA?

Do fanfics count?

Might as well if there's nothing better to do.

Chapters are hit or miss. You don't have to commit to anything so go check out the group and if you like it join, if not you didn't waste money/time

they seem to be pretty clever in some things

have either of you been to a meeting?

That was good the people demands MORE

I'm . I'm actually one of the founders for my local chapter. I am proud of my chapter and the work it's done but recognize that many chapters have leadership I see as misguided at best. But the fact that local leadership gets the autonomy to steer policies crafted to the local is part of what I like about the org in the first place. In practice national is only for guidance and a few overarching rules.

thats pretty cool. What do you hope you can get your chapter to pursue and do locally? (dont dox yourself tho) Im very curious what a Holla Forumser pushes their org towards.

Don't worry I've been around long enough to know better lol. Mostly I stay away from the more protesty stuff (not condemning it I just think my time is better spent) and try to influence local lower level races where we can back independents and, if push comes to shove, sufficiently left wing dems into races that we feel are winnable. Big money always gets poured into the "big ticket" races when legislature, judgeships, council positions, etc. don't get any attn. and imo are the key to beginning to shove establishment dems/reps out who usually hold these positions unchallenged

So basically mostly electoral work and a lot of working with local groups to push through prison/police/infrastructure reform legislation. Unfortunately under current political climate feels more like damage control than active pushing towards socialism most of the time but I remain hopeful in the long run

Have the DSA got a party member elected? Do you hope to do so? Will we live to see a day where the DSA is major player?

No, because the right approach is entryism not creating a splinter party which can never work under FPTP

Any cleverness is an illusion from mimicry.

The Communist Manifesto originally was to be released in the
can someone explain why Flemish and Danish?
Was Danish like considered a lingua franca for Scandinavia or something?

It was were they were previous strong communist movements,

There's been a number of DSA members recently as well as DSA backed candidates professing democratic socialism. Not nearly enough but it's a start considering so much of the current membership is brand new from the last year

Neat.

Was it difficult to start your own chapter? Did you already have some organization to build on?

Someone here has already read Volume III of Capital? What do you think about it in relation to Volume I and II (Structure, style of writing, difficulty, content, etc.)? Thanks.

Because the early communist movement had shitloads of Flemish and Danes in it.

Had some experience with local organizing/politics prior but if you get in contact with national and there is enough interest in your region it's not too complicated. They're always ecstatic to hear from a new constituency.

Best advice if you do is to reach out to local unions (if you don't know figure out which unions are largest represented in your city) early on and bring them into the fold.

Oh and if there's a college/university nearby see if they have a YDS chapter. It's the college division and they often have them even in areas where there is no main branch
