Free Speech

Hey Holla Forums I'm arguing with a semi-mutualist, former an-cap (with hints of an-cap left over - I redpilled him off capitalism) friend of mine about "free speech." Now I'm not for (and have made this clear) aimlessly hurting working class conservatives/trump supporters/even alt-rightists, but I am fine with suppressing fascism in public - ie punching Richard Spencer. Important figures who spout fascist talking points & are trying to confuse proles and lead them into class collaboration against scapegoats (no not Drumpf :DDDD ) are worthy of violent suppression, even if I think violence against bourgie is more important in the long-run.

Problem is, he's still on the pacifist meme. Some of his arguments:

I told him that fascism is inherently not a peaceful ideology, how while they preach "free speech" they are prepping the ovens, how "Debating" them only legitimatizes their positions and is not a venue to defeat them because they rely on emotions over facts.

He says:

I'm on the fence about this shit. I don't see theoral it in killing people for having shitty "opinions". It just seems like r/socialism levels of theory. I'm not against revolution if necessary, but this fetishism for killing "Nazis" ( even though they lack the means to enact any policies) seems like lifestylism. Just wanting to be a soviet Era communist instead of facing the real conditions of our society.

Free speech is important to a free society. If your ideas are good, they should be able to stand up to scrutiny. Also, by making certain speech illegal, you create violent ideologies that move and grow underground. You will never eradicate stupid ideas. You can only educate people.

Except bad ideas slip by everyone all of the time and some become entrenched in public consciousness for decades.
