I find calling it Liberal idpol, or even just idpol, is the most useful way to identify it. Since these people often have no Leftist vision of revolution and no Leftist critique of political economy it's a real stretch to call SJWs "Leftists". That said, there are Leftists who are overly invested in idpol, reddit is proof of that, but most SJWs are Liberals who think Marx is "le dead white man", and who think Socialism is eurocentric.

"Progressive" is a broadly meaningless word. Both Liberals, and Social Democrats in their current incarnation don't believe in class struggle, the abolition of private property, or the establishment of a DoTP, they believe in managing Capital and doing the bare minimum it takes to stave off constant economic crisis and maybe to create a soft welfare state while they're at it, although most Liberals don't even believe in that anymore these days.

Progressives are those that believe in the advancement of society through scientifically-determined, empirical methods. There is nothing more progressive than those who understand that the most important change to make to society is to replace the capitalist production arrangement with true democracy. Even Marx uses the term two or three times in the Communist Manifesto.

Exactly, the term is too broad to be meaningful, and in it's broadness it becomes meaningless, Liberals are "progressives", Marxists are "progressives", socdems are "progressives", Anarchists are "progressives", even Ancaps and some Reactionaries consider themselves progressive and sling around "regressive Left" to describe anyone who isn't pro-imperialism, pro-capitalism, and pro-police state, it's a word that has very little meaning out of context, a Liberal however has a very specific definition, they believe in "free markets", they believe private property is a "human right", they believe in Bourgeois democracy as opposed to Proletarian democracy, and they support the Bourgeois nation-state. Anyway, this is kind of a pointless and semantical arguement to have tbh, especially since I assume we're both Socialists who don't like Liberalism, my only point is that calling SJWs "progressives" is misleading when calling them Liberals is more accurate.

Couldn't agree more. Although I will say many of them here (burgerstan) are minimally class conscious, although most of them still haven't shaken the image of the Communist Spectre. So they mostly advocate for nearly impossible things, like trying to replace government with representatives they feel truly represent them, reigning in capitalist greed without absolutely (and unintentionally) grinding the economy to a halt, and ending "money in politcs" as they call it. IMO the last one is hysterical because the current iteration of our state was by-and-large created by the bourgeois.
