It is a bit of an over-simplification but it is just that, a simplification, most of what is said is true.

I'd disagree in saying it was purely capitalist however, it was a socialist society truly, but it was built on NATO state loans, and ran on them as well. And the moment the eastern bloc fell any form of independence for Yugoslavia became a joke, because Tito could no longer run to the eastern bloc which he shat on so hard if NATO dogs got too hungry, and he could no longer hide under the NATO skirt if the soviets got tired of his shit.

It is worth noting however, that the future politicians of the ex-Yugoslavian states, on their lonesome each collected a bigger debt than the entire Yugoslavia during all of Tito's career, so to say it was all on loans is false. It was still too dependent to be independent.

Non-Serbs started resenting Serbs in the 20s because of Belgrade monarchy being reactionary and repressive as fuck, also WW2 and all that happened during those times, but people lived normally together till the 80s when shit started again because of reasons.

As for Tito, i like him as a politician, but Yugoslavia wasn't really that successful. Also self-managing worker's socialism was ebin on paper at least. People mocked the rest of the Eastern Block because we had higher wages, could travel to the West and our women didn't sell their asses for pantyhose and Coca-Cola because we had it all, but when you look at the main economic-social development indicators it was behind Czechoslovakia or East Germany, or Hungary.
