People are very ignorant, they usually hate the cops, hate the public officials, but don't actually understand politics.
Our liberal-left is a right wing movement at best, posing as a labor movement. People are scared of it because they think it will make Mexico a Venezuela 2.0. The fucking guy is not even a social democrat.
People are very overworked. They have no time for revolution or protests. The class cuckery is at maximum, especially in rural areas. Even in big metropolis like Monterrey (pop. 4-6 million) people are class cucked to the max, think Dallas but poorer and in spanish.
Many people see the Zapatistas as terrorists (well, at least some bourgies I know).
That said, politics is definitely changing. More citizens are getting involved in politics (as opposed to the political class) and changes to decrease power from the political class are gaining ground.
It's not changing into anything truly leftist, more like a modern social democracy.
Mexico decriminalized drugs, marijuana legalization (for medical and recreational) have taken big strides, gay marriage legal in several states and increasing, abortions legal in some places.
