That's literally the go-to number because it's hard to eyeball the length of something that's either in your face or in your crotch and women are not as good at spatial reasoning as men. Actually being 8 inches will make some women think you're 10 or 12 as a result, since most men are 5-6 inches but say higher. If you say you're 6 inches when you really are, you'll sometimes have women tell you you're bigger than that.

Height is harder to fake because you compare like to like (women usually know how tall they are) so the effect is less pronounced, but it's still there.

I second - I'm 5'5, which means 95% of all guys are taller than me. Got my gf at age 28 because I kept at it despite me being a social retard. The following things were needed:
*learned how small talk works
*learned how flirting works (both give confidence)

*she happened to meet me at work (my area of expertise), so I was in a confident mindset (not about her)
