well that takes care of the music

Alan Moore.
Miyazaki used to be one but I'm not sure if he still is.

one of my favorite photographer and film director is Paul Strand, one of his best film was Native Land, which showed the poor treatment of Black Americans by the fascist KKK. His photographic works are also amazing. I recommend looking at his works Holla Forums

The famous painter Frida Kahlo was a staunch supporter of communism, anticolonialism and feminism. She was from Mexico, and became an acquaintance of Leon Trotsky during his exile. It's rumored they may have had a secret affair.

The list is so long, it would take hours of collective work to compile a comprehensive list of artists who associated with communism and made that a part of their work in one way or another.

From Pablo Picasso to René Magritte in painting, from B. Traven to George Orwell in literature, from Dziga Vertov to Jean-Luc Godard in cinema, from Aaron Copland to Black Flag in music, from El Lissitzky to Oscar Niemeyer in architecture, from Oscar Wilde to Bertholt Brecht in drama, from Alexander Rodchenko to Tomoyoshi Murayama in graphic design, from August Sander to Helen Muspratt in photography — the list just never ends.

amazing, thank you for sharing

I have another individual I really enjoyed. John Berger, an art critic that recently passed away in Janurary 2017. His best material he has produced and is a gift to everyone that wises to learn other view points to observing art works is a TV series and book called "Ways of Seeing". Ways of Seeing really goes after the capitalism's marketing tactics, the art works of the ruling class, just to name a few. Worth a read or watch (available online)

t-t-thanks!

a lot of neorealist directors
a lot of french/japanese new wave directors
a lot of pre-blacklist hollywood directors
a lot of 20th century writers
a lot of 20th century visual artists
a lot of experimental music artists

don't forget modern art in general is cultural marxism!!!11one

Diego Rivera

This. I saw the history of Mexico mural in person at the national palace. It's amazing.

He was commissioned to paint Man at the Crossroads at the Rockefeller center, but it was destroyed because of the image of Lenin and the anti-capitalist message.

Forgot Man at the Crossroads

He was Frida Kahlo's husband, and housed Leon Trotsky during exile.

Jack London, author of famous works that you probably were assigned to read as a teenager like "The Call of the Wild" and "White Fang." He was a strident activist for socialism and labor rights, and in the Soviet Union his books were among the most popular works by American authors.

Some composers:
Hans Werner Henze, German, and Eric Satie, French.

Funny story; Apperantly Michail Bakunin and Richard Wagner hung out a bunch.

Pete Townshend from The Who says gommunisms are good

gee I wonder why

Good writer, was racist though.

Paul Nizan, French author who wrote for the communist party of France and was later killed by the Nazis at Dunkirk.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez palled around with Castro and praised Allende.

...

For all its circle jerk about western culture the right seems to have a lot less quality artist in pretty much every field.

If they could produce anything of value themselves they wouldnt need to be 'proud' of things others did

the arts is one of the biggest strength the left, socialist/communist have ever since the arts were no longer exclusive to the ruling classes, I believe Russia was the first ones that allowed the general public to view and listen to the arts.

Pablo Picasso was a very staunch communist and heavily supported the communist party as well as the communist in the Spanish Civil war to the point that it reflects in his works with probably the most famous example being Gurenica.

Bertold Brecht
Mayakovsky
Orwell was close to AnCom

Wasn't Orwell a Trot? He fought with a Trotskyist militia in Spain I think (have yet to read Homage to Catalonia)

Literally every French artist and intellectual born after 1900.

Nice, I didn't know about that and I love Can. Apparently it didn't originally mean that, but was later made into an acronym.

I love his art style, its so cool. I really wanna see it in person.

Kim Stanley Robinson is a great sci-fi writer, and almost a socialist.

'almost'?

he literally wrote a trilogy about commie mars, and a alternate history short shitting on the nuking of nagasaki

Yeah, I posted that then looked it up and fucking Monthly Review has interviewed him.

I really enjoyed an interview he did on Planetary Radio about a year ago, and I read that climate change trilogy of his last month, I just didn't want to claim anything out the gate.

no worries my man, im a big fan of him

I also forgot about Three Californias which is simultaneously the kind of self indulgent love letter only Californians write about their own state, but also a great little trilogy with three possibilities of the same year: nuked fallout California, neoliberal urban cyberpunk hell where life is cheap, and finally ancom utopia

I've gotta' read all that. I picked up the climate change one from this thrift store, and also picked up Green Mars. Hopefully Red Mars will show up somewhere soon, or I'll just take it out of the library when I finish the books I'm reading now.

>tfw KSR inspired you to start writing sci-fi and you're just about finished with your first 10,000 short story and are going to submit it to Fantasy & Sci-Fi Magazine

*10,000 word

Nice my man! Personally YT is my jam, but I have thought about writing too

What's YT?

youtube i meant heh

You should write science fiction. I've worked writing for a long time, but science fiction is just so goddamn fun. I mean, I'm not making art, and definitely not writing hard sci-fi, but it's cool to do.

heh
