Are dress codes and uniforms a tool of the bourgies?

It's not some kind of fetish, I actually don't think school uniforms are hot at all. I actually want it because of my ideological convictions. You teach children early on that they are equal.

Just because people have to wear the same uniform to school doesn't mean they are robbed of all individuality.

That's because it's mostly private schools that use it for some reason, it's quite odd actually. School uniforms should be state mandated.

I'm aware of the stated reasons, and I suppose a lot of them are true. But nonetheless there's still the unspoken function of them being a form of advertising.

As a matter of fact it's implicitly acknowledged whenever the school says "Don't mess around in your uniform after school or we will punish you because that makes us look bad".

I'm not fundamentally opposed to uniforms. I'm just saying it's a mistake to say they're "egalitarian and socialist".

Also having a singular state-wide uniform would defeat one of the main advantages of uniforms, that being if a young child gets lost they can be easily returned to their school.

state schools usually wear plain skirts, but recently a lot of them have been adopting more formal uniforms, with check skirts and coloured blazers instead of the generic uniforms you could buy at the supermarket they had when i was a kid
