So do you guys think we're living in a dystopia or have we not reached that level yet?

it depends on which level of society and which country you're talking about

poor americans absolutely live in a dystopia

I don't understand how there isn't a massive uprising in America right now

the propaganda is fucking insane here

i was raised by a romani feminist and a former IRA fighter and even they were afraid to teach me about socialism for fear of ostracism and CPS coming to fuck with us

though i didnt make it past 3rd grade so lol

Yes, and we're almost there.

Pretty much, it's ridiculously rightist here. And consider anyone left of the "moderate" right a communists. So socdem = socialism, state capitalist command economy = communism.

The "moderate" right would be the far right in most European countries.

How many levels of techno dystopia are you on?
You are like little baby, watch this

Literally Fascism, the app.

I want off Mr. Porky's wild ride

its a comfortable dystopia and as long as its that most people are more than happy to not recognize the reality

Yes, in America we already in Brave New World tier dystopia. I make a point to survey people and they all say the same things on most topics of popular interest

Depends on who you're talking to. I have a co-worker who broke three toes a couple days ago. They look pretty bad, too. Just totally blackened from the internal bleeding.

But he tells me "man I'm not into that doctor shit. What, he'll make me pay three thousand dollars to put a popsicle stick and tape on my toes? Pssh fuck that."

And so this dystopian shit is perceived by the person experiencing it to be simply a result of personal choice. Choosing eating out a couple times, shoes, clothes, rent etc. instead of healthcare without questioning the underlying assumptions of that. I sometimes wonder how that logic can go

yeah its fucked but ive done the same many times. you break basically anything besides a limb and you might as well stay home and save the bill cause you know your insurance won't cover the whole thing

I dunno, user.

I mean… You just have a finger not working…

I wonder how bad things could get after the terrorist attack, for the UK … .. I wonder…

It's a full blown dystopia, it's just that in movies/books there's no reason to show the regular Joe going to work and watching TV, so we mistake a vague security of not starving + having access to entertainment and fun as signs we're living in a good, healthy society.

is there any hope?

There's some pretty great stuff and some pretty terrible stuff. We have come a long way since feudalism, but we still have a long way to go.

Leftists need to quite this "we are living in a techno-neoliberal-nazi dystopia" narrative. It gives the appearance that you lack a larger perspective.

There are many parts of America that have been on the slow decline for decades and a rapid decline since the recession
In America anyway there is great anger and you can feel for years now how things are worse than they should be.
Anyone from a poorer area of America can tell you this

21st century capitalism is an absurd sludge of meaningless tech buzzwords. nobody even knows where the money comes from. billions and billions of dollars are spent on 'digital ads' that will only be seen by an audience of automated clickbots.

btw this company, tronc, formerly known as the chicago tribune is about to go bankrupt. who could have expected it?

it's pretty close tbh

Not really. When fascism kicks in then we will get real dystopia.

We never left it. We're still in Plato's Republic.

it's called "social personality disorder"
sufferer turns into a walking NPC

A lack of guiding ideology and an increasingly vestigial faith in their democratic system. The common normie has been raised on a pap of propaganda since before they can walk, and their limited understanding of their own history, constitution, and political economy makes them believe that their system is not only the best, but that it's functioned correctly for over 200 years. Since their education system leaves them pig ignorant and uncritical, and in conjunction with the belief that they live in a classless society, they never stop to think for whom it supposedly functioned so well or why.
