Most immigrants nowadays are wealthy and educated so they actually have advantages compared to you. The stereotypical poor, uneducated immigrants rarely possess the means or inclination to immigrate. Most of them have to come over as refugees or illegals, two groups that have decidedly worse fortunes than the typical "legal" immigrant.

One of the biggest misconceptions people have about immigration is that an immigrant population is a group of some mythical average people from their country instead of either poor people who need to leave but dont want to and are barely able to, or wealthy people who really want to leave and try their best to make the most of the switch.

That's not true at all. If you were talking about Canada, maybe, they're strict about who they take, but a yuge portion of US immigrants are let in because they have family here, not because they're wealthy or educated.
A couple things I'd like to add to what people already said.
There are fundamentally two kinds of migrants: unskilled workers and skilled ones.
The first kind is the abject poor kind. They don't possess a particular skillset and when they flee to another country, they end up being turboexploited, most of the times illegally. Some of them will even say that things were better for them in their country.
The skilled workers are educated people that can do jobs that not everyone could: doctors, for example. Although not quite as desperate as the former, they are still people who were forced to fled their country and most of the time don't speak the language. They'll settle for anything short term and then try to enter their field of choice.
Both groups go into the reserve army of labour as soon as they enter the new country. They will work for worse conditions than the natives, because they literally have no choice. What porky doesn't realize is that the moment these people grasp citizenship, one way or another, they will become more of a pain in the ass than the natives, because they faced a worse, more brutal exploitation than them and DON'T want to be used anymore. This will happen every time.
That's why you see so many immigrants become middle class. That's literally the reason they escape their country, because they want to become middle class, and they will do anything necessary to do it.
Also, skilled labourers migrating is not simply a third world phenomenon. Plenty of educated first worlders escape their countries because they feel they don't have a future there. You see a lot of that in southern europe.
