You can become an unofficial tour guide yourself. Create an itinerary, learn what the best bars and restaurants are (and you can even make a deal with the owners), learn a bit of history to tell them while you're walking around and there you go.

Some time ago, some naive user here posted a thread about gaining citizenship to NK. He/she was going to trot on down to the local NK embassy and seek "asylum" lmao

I travelled from Europe to Australia for two weeks and flights, hostels, tours and food didn't amount to over 2000€. My friend spent one month in Thailand and didn't pay more than 3000€.

From (!) 4590€ per person is fucking insane considering the law GDP per capita in North Korea and they don't even pay your fucking flight back to Bejing. They really just make loads of money from people willing to spend a lot to visit some "forbidden country".

To live in the DPRK as a foreigner is almost impossible unless you have skills they desperately need (IT, English teacher, etc.) and even then your time there will be restricted to no more than two years. There is this guy Jada Parker on YouTube who posts daily life vlogs from North Korea but as far as I know he only stays there for two or three years:

NK is a place that doesn't get many tourists (plus once they stamp your passport that's one more red flag for you whenever you travel). It makes sense for them to charge a lot so they at least get some money from those dumb enough to pay. They could lower the price to what it costs them and it wouldn't double the tourists.

It's not extortion. You're free not to pay them, they're free not to let you visit their shitty country. If they charged that to let you leave, then yeah that'd be extortion.

Anybody who does this tour is dumb. Since the flight to Beijng is not included, you could easily end up spending 6500€ or more.

For this much money you could have the vacation of your lifetime instead you chose to see some commie blocks. You can't even take pictures.
