a)alot of people will be turned off by people who look like crusties and tumblr users, and trying to change all of their minds because they ultimately should be changed is not really practical
b)there are also people who'd be ok with such people, and for whom socialism is in their class interests, but arent socialists. so they're a symptom. appealing to the fringes of society but not the the entire working class is a serious problem, whether or not you have any problem with the fringes.
