When first reading your post, I thought you were wrong, but then I was reminded that every congruence of leftists has more similarity to the night of the living dead than to anything that would resemble liveliness.

I disagree. For a capitalist FDR was pretty based. The issue wasn't that FDR took the wound out of the sails, but that capitalism had already won at that point. Unfortunately we were one of the first industrialized contries, so we couldn't learn from the mistakes of preprocessors. By the time communism came around american capitalists, already had enough power to stomp it out. The information age has given us a new chance to undermine the corporate power structure, but that window is fading, as more and more regulations stifle the free exchange of Idea's.

Huh? There were some real work done by a variety of socialist organizations during the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The Great Railway Strike of 1877 is in that time frame, which was the closest the USA came to a successful workers revolution.

without fdr there was a serious chance of revolution in the usa. FDR was the only serious reformist candidate in both the democratic and republican parties and the various socialist organizations (CPUSA, CIO, SLP) were gaining steam.

by 1932 depression the american public had lost almost all faith in the system. hey had just lived through 12 years of violence from a failed and idiotic attempt at banning alcohol and daily they were bombarded by stories of the "success" of capitalism while their families starved. people were rightfully angry at the government and the capital class. Italy and Germany both had failed socialist revolutions resulting in powerful reactionary movements. The German and Italian public had lost faith in both socialism and capitalism. That is why fascism presented itself as the "Third Way".

When its brown leaders were killed off by the CIA and it was made illegal to be a socialist in a trade union and drugs were made illegal in order to target draft dodgers and brown people and when unions in general were kicked to shit and years of propoganda and lies started to take their toll

Leftism never really existed in the US.
From its conception till today you always had land owners/bosses and serfs/slaves/workers. There was never a time when workers had the control of the MoP, hell there was not even a time when people even advocated for such a thing.

Yeah, if theCapitalist economy had fully collapsed during the Great Depression, the Left would have been in an excellent position to establish a Communist society.

The industrialists, including FDR, knew this, and so maneuvered us into WWII both to temporarily employ the masses, but also to counter the Soviets and establish the "First World" where capitalist markets would be protected by US force.

It started to die around 1940. Debs is long gone and the Socialist Party moved to the right. Shit like the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact discredited CPUSA. Trotsky gets icepicked and his followers are only good at selling newspapers. FDR delivers reforms and most leftists just become Democrats.

After all that the we have the second Red Scare and Cold War. The movements of the 60's and 70's are crushed by Nixon. It finally dies because of Reagan.
