Krautrock and psychedelic rock
The same shit I listened to when I was a kid.
Touhou dojin and japanese noise rock.
also Les Rallizes Dénudés. This is *extremely* important.

for american music, mainly death grips, days n daze, pat the bunny and now woody guthry. not as much american music as japanese in general though.
post punk, mpb, ariel pink, john maus, Grazhdanskaya Oborona, Minutemen, Beefheart, favourite classical composers are Prokofiev and Alban Berg
Good taste dude.
I'm mostly into classic rock and early metal. Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Kinks are some of my favorites. I'm just getting in to Hawkwind, they did some stuff with Michael Moorcock, one of my favorite writers. I also like a lot of 90's rap.
I've been listening to a lot of J-Fusion as of late. If you don't know what that is listen to this:

If you the above song, this album is pretty good:

I also just found out about Shakatak this is one of their most famous songs:

is there some tool for these somewhere?
Mostly death, black, and doom metal(metal in general really but those are my favorite subgenres). A lot of neofolk, industrial, darkwave, post punk, dark/ritual ambient, power electronics, and crossover/grindcore/curst punk too.
yeah you can search /mu/ chart generator and you'll find one.
use

Good choices for American Music. Melt-Banana is sick and Merzbow is too although he's a meme.
A lot of stuff I listen to is actually on here. Phil Ochs, Woody Guthrie, Defiance Ohio, Pat the Bunny's stuff, and Stza's stuff are the extent of my political music. Michael Parenti's voice clips in the CV discography had me actively looking for theory.
Outside of that I like to listen to Nana Grizol, Angel Olsen, Teen Suicide, Joyce Manor, Snowing, Slowdive, and Sunny Day Real Estate
Folk.
Specifically PHIL MOTHERFUCKING OCHS!!
Pour one out for Phil
Psychedelia
Trip Hop
Post-industrial
Post-punk
Post-rock
Blackgaze
Dark wave
Neofolk
its suddenly refusing to accept input after I add like 3 albums, what gives

I say this after it reloading five times and the same thing happening.
Prog, Psychedelic, Punk, and a mix of lots of other stuff

This is what I've been listening to this month. Who else is listening to DAMN right now?
got a link for the one in the bottom left? Ive seen one of the videos on youtube but nothing else.
Stuff like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Grateful Dead, Cream, and so on. This mostly, but then some other stuff.
Metallica, Black Sabbath, Dio, Rammstein, Lindemann.
And Folk music, generally Wolff Tones or Phil Ochs.
Also Queen is fucking great.
as a hardcore anarchocommunist I listen to Michael Buble, he touches the soul but not as much as Selena Gomez.
why do cringelords like this gotta be commies?
Here's my 3x3
faggot
socialist folk songs
Their new album is pretty good
Oldschool working class blue grass is the fucking best
It's like I never left /mu/
Mainly tech and progressive [death] metal.
Perturbator, Scattle, carpenter brut because at heart i'm a edgy 12 year old who just discovered Hotline Miami
I like European Folk music. (No, I am not a Nazi. Please don't stone me.)
Mostly grindcore and power violence. Stuff like Dropdead, Spazz, Charles Bronson, Infest, Capitalist Causalities, etc. A lot of lefties in the scene but mostly people not too serious about politics
80s new wave mostly 80s/90s pop music.
because fuck you, you're not my dad.
Memecore, soundclown, mashups, etc. because I'm fucking dead inside and nothing else fills the void.
No. You're my dad.
Listen to Dead Prez's 'Lets Get Free'.
It is literally the entirety of Marx and Mao's theories in rap form.
It also has the song that Dave Chappele used as the opening to his show
Also Tupac is still alive lads
vidya gaem and anime ost's
Stuff like this.
A lot of shit. During the week I try to find albums I've never heard before and listen to them in their entirety. On the weekend I'll listen to shit I've liked since I was an edgy teen and anything new that really did it for me, mainstays are Immortal Technique, Stooges, Black Flag, and Bad Brains.
uphold Watersism-Gilmourism-Barrettism
Pretty miscellaneous. Classic rock, some free jazz, Drone metal, Prog.

what's Holla Forums's opinion on Father John Misty? he can be kind of annoying and tryhard art school freshman at times and the music is overall kinda boring, but he makes some really poignant points about the pointlessness and of the current system and its entertainments etc.
totally ""woke""
He's like a better version of whatever shitty indie band is popular. Not amazing but worth listening to.
My impression of him is that he's a corny, insufferable hipster-douchebag who thinks he and his music is interesting and illuminating.
I guess he sometimes makes a good point, but I don't think he's worth listening to. I'd certainly never sit down and listen to him for two hours like his latest record (aren't the other two like 30-45 minutes?).
He has a great voice, though, and "Chateau Lobby #4 (In C for Two Virgins)" is a guilty pleasure of mine.
8/10, but only because I don't recognize bottom right and the one between Can and Fiona Apple. Very good, with good range.
Also top-tier Bowie taste. Berlin Trilogy's the best.
Made this some months back, I probably should make some slight modifications.
Bottom right is Amon Duul II, essential leftycore (they were associated with what would become the Red Army Faction). The other is, uh, Bob Dylan.
Country music and classic rock. Im pretty much an old man stuck in a young body.
I unironically listen to Neutral Milk Hotel, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Crywank and Gregory and the Hawk.
...
I listen mostly to Techno, Goa Trance, Acid House, Renaissance/Baroque and other old music, a lot of Neue Musik, Berlin school electronics.
Lmao. You're very polite about my inexcusable Bob Dylan ignorance.
Me too, homie, but please tell me you listen to more than that.
In case you haven't heard, NMH's seems to be dropping hints they're gonna release a double album this year. If they tour, you absolutely must see them live. Also can confirm the singer from AJJ is a majorly pleasant guy, and their touring drummer, Owen from Roar, and I talked about Hegel and dialects for several minutes after a show.
Was Ochs murdered? Seems way too much of a coincidence that he died during the seventies.
Fuck man, just get a 2D waifu, at least she would be more real than those girls.
My friend is a big Ochs fan and a communist, and has never suggested, at least not to me or on social media, that he was assassinated.
Phil's mental health was horrific, and worsened in the years leading up to his death. He was bipolar and an alcoholic. I don't think his suicide is at all dubious.
Well the FBI did have an extensive dossier on him, but from the biographies about him, it would have been really hard to make it out to be an assassination. He was really troubled and claimed to have murdered himself apparently at one point by assuming himself to be someone else.
Of course I do fam, those are just what should class me as scum when it comes to music to be honest.
Wish I could but I'm an ausfag and even on the off chance they somehow end up here they'd arrive on the wrong side of Australia. I'm still paying for TAFE so I wouldn't be able to afford to see them live.
Also from what I've seen of AJJ they seem like pretty cool lads, didn't know they were that far leftist though.
Ah shit. Well, when bands do Australia tours, they sometimes hit up Perth, so it might not be totally hopeless. I don't remember my tickets for their "final tour" being high, either.
They're cool lads, but I think they're socdems, so not that far left. I think they would be further left if they knew more. Owen seems like he might be the most learned. Sean, the singer, probably picked up some stuff up with that degree in social work he has, but didn't radicalize. I still like him and the others as people, though.
Personally I love 2000's post-hardcore or metalcore. That was the music of my teenage years, and I connected with a lot of it on an emotional level. Eventually I lost that connection because of musicians doing what's best in terms of thier commercial interests rather than what was best for the "subculture".
There is only one answer.
Great taste fam.
Your taste reminds me of this person I know from RateYourMusic.

Based MIA. She's great.
post-punk, techno, ambient, p much anything with synthesizers
dude, come to argentina
lets blast the joint
nice
Maybe I will when it leaks online somewhere i can listen to it before buying. How are you liking it? The single HUMBLE is pretty cool/
Yeah she really is. The first 3 songs on MITANGI are awful though, after it gets pretty good though.
I'm into many genres. Mostly techno (detroit, dub, & industrial), house (deep mostly), free jazz, metal (sludge, stoner, & black), EAI, drone, the list could go on :^)
GOOD lad
anime opening music
The only songs on Matangi I didn't like are Lights and Doube Bubble Trouble (tho the music vid isn't stunning). I find MIA has this really great way of weaving politics into the sound and aesthetic of her art without spelling it out with her lyrics, which I hate in hip hop (think Immortal Technique)
...
nice
don't like the rest though
The whole "maturity" obsession that some people have on this board really shows the ages of those on here, really makes me cringe and think of the stupid way I acted when I was a teenager.
rap/hip hop/trap/cloud
punk rock
psychedelic rock
classic rock
alternative rock
stoner rock
thrash/black/doom/heavy/old school death metal
jazz

There was a failed assassination attempt in some African country he visited that left him extremely paranoid and marked his spiral into depression and anxiety.
...
leftypol once again demonstrating their fun and shit taste
an immense distancing from Marx and thus, not socialist
or did you kill all the sparrows that could have ever taught you otherwise?
Maoism during the Chinese Civil War is more what I identify with. but yeah fuck sparrows tbh
you identify with battle strategy and not socialist theory
reactionaries who don't realize the revolution will come from the rural lower classes, not the fucking cities because industry has disappeared
Dungeon Synth
What rural lower classes, you fool? Technological developments have little need for mass labour forces in rural lands. You need to go full third worldist to justify your beliefs and that's completely fucking retarded, read Marx.
It's like you've never stepped outside of a city.
Would you say the kulaks had revolutionary potential? :^)
...
That game is GOAT. Check out miami nights 1984, com truise, and lazerhawk
Don't worry brother I keep it pure and avoid music with stringed instruments as well. Inshallah we can cleanse the musical world of the d*generacy that has infested it one day.
fellow Perthfag?
In Holla Forums's utopian government you're only allowed to listen to Scandinavian metal on repeat because WE WUZ VIKINGS.
Mostly shoegaze and japanese alternative stuff…
nothing inherently communist to my knowledge; it's hard to find people who share similar taste, but leftists on rym seem to be into this sort of stuff too
pretty good, i like the boc and how are you and gas
lots of good stuff in this thread though
boards of canada and radiohead.
Thanks for linking HASAMI, Ive been looking for more weird japanese stuff.
No problem. I found them from a /jp/ archive thread asking for 'NEET-core'.
I think some of their things, like the ones I linked, it felt like I 'got' them very much when I was NEET and recently so, in a way halfway between sorts of feelings from shinsei kamattechan and yume nikki. I hope you can appreciate that aesthetic too, at least a little
CBA making a chart but:
Dropkick Murphys
The Exploited
Dead Kennedys
Angelic Upstarts
Leftover Crack/Choking Victim/ whatever Stza is doing this week
Stiff Little Fingers
Wonk Unit
UK Subs
Bad religion

The Oppressed
Plus a bunch of others I can't remember right now. I also like folk music, mostly the pogues and the Wolfe Tones, The dubliners etc.
love a lot of crust punk
doom and skitsystem are probably my favorites in that regard
a lot of doom and blackened doom (ruins of beverast fuckin slay)
huge martial industrial kick lately though, too bad its so saturated with fash and cryptofash
What I got on my hard drive right now:

Chinese Football
The Cure
DMX Krew
Frank Zappa
Gentle Giant
Paolo Conte
Radiohead

Tatsuhiko Asano
Omnipotent Youth Society

Sometimes I blast the nightcore version of the opening to Lucky Star early in the morning to get myself ready to own fascists
House music, mostly deep house to be specific. Also lots of old school hip hop and some metal/hardcore as wel
Mr. Twin Sister, Tame Impala, Beach House, Tops
Flatbush Zombies, DJ YUNG VAMP, Death Grips, MF Doom, Kendrick Lamar, Joji Miller (unironically), a bit of Kanye and Earl Sweatshirt, anything with a J Dilla track under it
Su Na, Odesza, Rufus du Sol, Seekae, Chrome Sparks
VECTOR GRAPHICS, Saint Pepsi, COSMIC CYCLER, t e l e p a t h テレパシ, ESPRIT 空想, マクロスMACROSS 82-99, FATAL MEMORY ERROR
I bet the guy pictured has never done psychedelics or anything stronger than MDMA or Xanax in his entire life just like 90% of the people who like those aesthetics.
Sorry it just triggers my autism
Vaporwave aesthetic isn't supposed to be psychedelic mane. That guy just went overboard with the glitch art.
T R A P M U S I C
ALL DAY ERRY DAY
Only RATM albums on repeat!
And yet it looks like LSD fuzz/color overlays if you've ever had acid before you know what I mean. It looks like acid/ketamine/mdma vision. I feel like you also haven't done the aforementioned substances so maybe this makes no sense. But when you do a lot of molly or just a little Lucy the colors begin looking like Vaporwave album art and the type of thinking and eccentric, eclectic heterogenous mix of weird "acidy" 90's early 00's internet/corporate advertising art is also extremely pscyhedelic. And then there's the music which is literally trance, apotheosis, head-space music. I don't know it isn't supposed to be that but that's what it looks like to me and the vibe i've gotten listening to it the last 2 years.
Yeah I see what you mean. But I always thought of it as the color distortion you get in old VHS tapes, fitting in with the retro theme.
I got 5 tabs on me right now, was gonna cut one up and microdose in the morning
That makes sense now that I think about it. tbh I don't really listen to vaporwave when I'm tripping, I usually pick music that's a little more upbeat and lyrical. But I definitely get where you're coming from
Pretty nice, i'll give some of those a listen
RATM, RTJ, immortal technique, low-key, etc
This chart is missing Shinsei Kamattechan - Tsumanne and some Yegor Letov stuff, but besides that this is mostly accurate.
My boi.
Scroobius Pip and other things.
A lot of stuff.
Most of what it listen to is free-jazz: Monk, Coltrane, and Ellington. I like the album cover for Underground (left) but I actually much prefer Solo Monk and Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane.
Some single-instrument/trio western classical, mostly Bach, Beethoven, Tartini and Ravel. Mirioirs, Archduke Trio and Devils Trill Sonata are all favorites.
Some psychedelic rock: Hendrix, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead and Bowie. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is a contender for my favorite album of any artist.
I like really like socialist folk as well. Phil Ochs is my favorite, but Billy Bragg is pretty solid too. I like folk-punk a lot. Traditional punk is alright once in a while. The Dead Kennedy's are probably the best.
I really like bluegrass and reggae whenever I hear it, but I don't have any artists that I listen too regularly.
I don't know what the fuck kind of music Dave Matthews Band plays but I fucking love it.
A little bit of Hip-Hop, mostly classic East Coast stuff, but some modern too. A$AP Rocky and Kanye West both have some songs I like a lot (Long Live A$AP, Everyday, L$D and Blkkk Skkkn Head), but they both produce a lot of music that I can't sit through. All in all, Tupac Shakur is by far my favorite rapper.
A bit of pop, Arctic Monkeys, Black Keys, AWOLNATION, Shania Twain (ironically), Taylor Swift (unironically), Amy Winehouse, Ben Harper and Conor Oberst.
For the most part, I'm not too into electronic music but I do like trip hop and electronic that incorporates low-fidelity swing and jazz.
Do you like Melody's Echo Chamber? It's basically the love child of these two (quite literally, Kevin Parker from tame impala worked on it).
youtube.com
It's good to see Holla Forums listens to more music than Holla Forums
Like I swear the only thing Holla Forums listens to is Shadilay
Thoughts on Shellac? I listened to a few tracks of theirs on Spotify and liked them, but I remember not liking Steve Albini, though I can't remember why.
anything with larping potential attracts cringey people
Right now it's jazz and krautrock.I started getting more into ambient and progressive electronic through krautrock now.
In the summer I love to listen to reggae and dub after long bike rides.
Generally, I try to listen to lots of different genres and music from different countries and I don't really have that much favourites, this is just what I'm listening right now.
Those are my top genres on RYM
made it just to trigger /mu/tants fam
Industrial metal, industrial electro, happy hardcore, black metal, punk, pop punk, ska punk, electro swing, classical.
That probably covers the gist of it.
Why it would trigger them?
