OP (and some of the posts in this thread) makes it seem like this is a hate thread against Americans (who are victims and fellow proletariats), not the American government and bourgeoisie. Secondly, it's obnoxious when non-Americans act like the US is the only imperialist State (Brits, Spaniards, Frenchmen, Netherlanders, Japanese, Iranians, etc.) when unfortunately it's not unique in that regard, but they feel high and mighty regardless.

Americans are raised to believe that they're the best simply because they're American, and this leads to a mentality where they refuse to question what they're told because their egos would be deflated if they ever had to admit they were wrong about anything. It's not exclusive to rightists, either. Americans in general are especially bad about this, and they'll often go to great lengths to maintain their illusion of superiority, even if it means having to strawman every criticism of their beliefs. Sadly, this isn't a problem that talking to them can fix, because it's a personal problem and not a political problem. The media and academia may be full of liars and idiots, but it doesn't take a genius to see that America doesn't live up to its promises of freedom. And honestly, contrary to all the propaganda, many Americans just don't like freedom. See their reactions to people smoking a blunt in their own home, or to gay marriage, or to anything else that doesn't affect them in any way and harms no one, but they still flip their shit and make up all sorts of horrific consequences that'll occur if you don't join their latest crusade to stamp out whatever's going to destroy decency and civilization this week. They solve the cognitive dissonance from this constant intervention in both other countries' affairs and their own citizens' private lives by redefining freedom. And again, American leftists have sometimes done these things as well, more often than many here would like to admit.
