Like for example if I were super wealthy I'd buy entire blocks of city housing and only charge a dollar per month for rent. I'd make all the tenants worship me and form a cult around me for fun and I'd walk around the neighborhood dressed as Gaius Julie Caesar complete with a Praetorian guard and I'd host never ending block parties.

Even if social mobility upwards or downwards continues to be nearly inexisting, with capitalism there's always the threat that a new crisis or something might kick you out of your throne. You have to understand that rich people live in their own bubble reality. The vast majority of them have never had any hardship monetarily at all. The classic example is Trump actually, the guy was born into money, and thinks that a million dollar loan is small. Trump's first interview in his whole life was for the presidency, who is in his 70s.
To someone in that situation, they are incapable ot understanding why people need help financially, it is simply beyond their understanding.
So why continue to make money? For pride's sake, that's all the reason that exists.
