What are some of your favourite socialist flags/symbols/art/buildings etc.?

I think the DDR has by far the best flag of all socialist countries, I like the hammer and compass a lot more than the hammer and sickle.

Easy

the flag or Angola is like: slash the fash

CPUSA is a joke, but they do have a nice symbol

Definitely agree with the DDR flag

I always liked socialist realism and propaganda type posters and art. Depicting labour as a heroic endeavour.

Oh, and the red army choir.

Why are you a socdem?

Probably Nazi flag

This is why commies starve

I'm not an anarchist but I admit they make some cool symbols.

It looks like a fully-armoured knight, who fell over face first and is holding his sword in an awkward position.

I unironically enjoy Socialist Realism and cheesy propaganda.

sauce for webm?

I like some socialist realism art but what really grabs my attention is the Suprematism and Constructivism of the revolutionary era.

Don't mind me, just dropping some aesthetic posters.

The 1936 soviet flag is also vastly superior to the later versions with the shorter sickle.

Also I don't even like SocDems but the Three Arrows poster is based af

Tell me more about this. I thought the only non-realistic socialist art was Dadaism.

Can't get enough of them gears and grains.
Hell, even Italian iconography does it for me.

Italian iconography?

these are great

...

Well, I don't know too much about it either lol. But before and in the course of the Russian Revolution there were some avant-garde art movements that turned out to be influenced by revolutionary ideas. Suprematism and Constructivism being the most famous ones, but there were also Futurists.

Rance is an egoist anarchist.

And a great accelerationist.

My sides

dada is socialist?

Dadaism is socialist, many times communist and anarchist

I was taught extensively about dadaism in high school but they never mentioned socialism

typical

What faggots

Wasn't ebola part of the dada movement for some time?

Probably they believe that art is an abstract thing completely apart from society and politics.

Yes he was, primarily because of the anti-bourgeois character of Dada.

Any communist aesthetics that have that kind of vibe of strength and darker aesthetics like fascist aesthetics but not fascist and more communist in its aestehtic if you know what I mean

Post an example.

Idk any it was just a request for them

anything tankie

Unfortunately none exist as far as I know.
Real shame, Italian fascism had top tier aesthetics and the left has no real equivalent.

The USSR had dank architecture AND classical music.

Personally I'm not a fan.
It's feels extremely boring to me.

They didn't care much for Schnittke either.
youtube.com/watch?v=x_tdeywdNAk

Eh, "Stalin"* didn't, but after WWII he was pretty much universally loved and Khruschev wanked over him.

*I say Stalin because the Pravda article called "Ballet Falsehood" that slammed him after Lady MacBeth of Mtsensk was almost ceartainly not written by Stalin himself.

...

God's way of punishing you for having shit taste.

You sure? I'm pretty sure plenty of those "USBM" bands were atmoshit and lefty(mostly green anarchists or something like that), Panopticon even covers some old socialist songs.

it's not "socialist" per se, but pretty much all of the western dadaists/surrealists were anarchists and commies.

Pretty much the only not predominantly leftist 20th century avant garde movement that i can think of is futurism and even then it was more trolling than anything.

I thought this was common knowledge.

It is bourgeois art! The proletariat only likes realistic art!

u're mum is bourgeois art

i agree

That pic is funny. From what I know, Dalí supported Franco.

Angolas machete and gear is fucking great

Even the graffiti is socialist.

Rance VI's My Glorious Days is pretty good too.

I hadn't thought much of Angola's flag before, I actually like how the machete (presumably a typical tool of rural Angola) replaces the sickle, and the gear replaces the hammer; in the end they still represent the union of proletariat and peasantry.

I think the star looks better filled in

Leftist aesthetics is generally good because of the combination of red and black. I don't like yellow with red that much but it is still good.

Compare with ancap aesthetics, for example. Yellow and black is a gross combination.

The documentary "Ben Building" elucidates this a bit: it may be inaccurate to refer to it as exclusively fascist, since basically all Italian architects were required to have fealty to Mussolini to work. The fascist government commissioned tons of buildings of a multitude of styles. We've basically decided that the kind of sleek minimalism that you've posted is quintessentially "fascist" because it's the most striking, and plenty of fascist architecture blends in with the landscape because it was styled to evoke buildings from a different age. Many "fascist" architects went right on and kept making buildings after the war was over, in fact the architects that stop working after the war are far more suspect for being actual fascists than those that do.

Unfortunately one of my personal favorites is one such case, albeit it's because I spent so much time around it: I spent two months in Prato, just two train stops from Florence, so I got quite accustomed to Santa Maria Novella Station, even though as a train station there's a very likely chance that one of *those* trains departed from it.

kriegsmarine flag…

Donetsk one is gorgeous

Great flag reminds me about a dear German friend, he has that flag in his room.

My favorite it's probably the pirate flag honestly.

Even though I'm not an anarchist. I love this an-com appropriation of the Gadsden flag.

Since we're starting off with state capitalism, DPRK does have some cool posters.

Fav socialist flag.

Though the party itself now sucks major ass.

The German swastika isn't even the best nat soc flag

commie swastika is the best swastika

Why would I want to stop someone who digs his own grave?

…but muh joseph beuys….

joke aside, while of course there is political art, i think most artists are apolitical. my humble self included.
your stereotypical artist-type person just is too much of an individual to be involved in collectivism/politics.

best soviet flag coming through

Goodbye Lenin is GOAT

some more socialist realism here

It seems that Socialist Realism and kitschiness always go hand in hand. :^)
