I'm sure most of you haven't watch Xexizys video yet, but I want to address this before this board starts spiralling into a collective depression.
The online "left" is not dying, and it isn't going to die just because a few namefags left. The Discord is shit and has always been shit, we can make a new one if you guys are really so broken up about it. "Content creators" come and go, some newfags seem to forget that people have real lives outside the internet.
Hear me out now: leftypol is growing for a reason, and it's not because we produce "dank memes" or "epig btfo vids". Leftypol is growing because there is a growing discontentment with bourgeois politics and people are seeking out alternatives. People come here specifically because others tell them about this place. This is double edged sword of course, because as the board grows its culture must grow accordingly. Now here's one thing I've noticed about this board's culture that I'd like to nip before it gets out of hand: don't rely on namefags. The resilience of imageboards is their anonymous nature. If this place ever went down, the entire population would move somewhere else. The people who are on 8ch were on 4ch before and still probably go there. Bunkerchan still exists and everyone here knows it's a backup, so don't start talking about this community as if it's dying.
Even if this community did completely fizzle out, we are a drop in the bucket as far as the big picture is concerned. First of all, a bunch of imageboard users arent going to start a revolution. Talk to people in your actual real life communities. And just in the context of the Internet, leftypol is not the entirety of the online left. Not sure how many of you are on Twitter, but the left's presence there is massive and leftypolyps make up but a small fraction of that.
So anyways, not saying don't heed Xexizy's call and become a content creator, but he's a newfag and a majority of this board is as well so I wanted to dispell the pessimism.
If the polls are true and trump has 36 percent approval rating, where are the leftist content creators? There are thousands on the other side of the fence, Sargon, molyneux, Styx, crowder, Alex jones etc with insane reach

first, the discord drama was a handful of people, they fucked off, and everything is more or less back to normal since literally nobody supported their shit. Second, everything you said is true, leftist shitposting is not leftism, leftism is exploding in popularity even more so than the reactionaries, it just needs good representatives. Stephen has has his show for 11 years and Sargon has been on youtube for 6 years. Styx has been on youtube for 8 years and Steven Crowder was an actor and has a bunch of media connections.

In the past 2 years, Holla Forums has doubled in size, whereas Holla Forums has actually shrunk its userbase. Tbh, I think the current situation with Holla Forums has mostly do to a couple of rogue mods, imkampfy and therealmoonman, but the important thing is to to take a look at the future.
Holla Forums went all-in for Donald Trump, and he is turning out to be a huge embarrassment, though it hasn't sunk in just yet for most people across party lines, because they hate the fucking media so much as well. Trump is a return to a more flagrant control of the United States by corporations and Zionists with a know-nothing at the helm, much like Bush Jr.
The alt-right and 8/pol/ may have damaged themselves beyond repair, and I say that as someone who agrees with the alt-right on a lot of issues.

Most criticism of Trump has been penalized with bans, anchored threads, and people filling the thread with spam, and this was true well before the election. I started a thread which I saw someone had screenshotted & posted here and piled on the evidence against Trump. I was of course permabanned from Holla Forums for it, while others who shared in the criticism of Trump were also banned. Hence, in the end, it looked like we had no answers, but by the time they got around to banning us Trump's reputation was destroyed if you had read any of the articles.
For reference, I am maintaining a stickied thread here >>>/4chon/194114 that catalogs the corruption of the Trump administration.
Many people who criticize Trump on Holla Forums feel obligated to use Tor. That is how bad it is. Also, something similar happened to me when I did the same thing on /polk/, the latest Holla Forums "alternative" to bad moderation. Criticizing Trump can easily be met with a ban.
IMHO, this will eventually destroy 8/pol/. Trump is still in his honeymoon phase with the media and his fanbase, much like Obama had, but I don't think it will last nearly as long for Trump. Trump will probably vote to audit the Fed, which they will all love, but only because most Republicans and a few Democrats want that now, and he probably won't veto it, though Treasury secretary Mnuchin wants him to. Little things like that, where he does stuff that's good because the winds are pushing him in that direction, might extend his fan loyalty into the summer, but buyer remorse will eventually hit, and hit pretty hard.

Memes are a subversive art form, they serve to reveal the absurdities of reality. Thinking that they need to be "informative" is why leftypol is so bad at memeing. Don't get me wrong, there's been a few good ones here and there, but a lot of people here miss the point.
The reason Alt-Right memes got so big was not because they spread some narrative, it was because they resonated with people. They displayed a shocking caricature of reality that is barely distinguishable from it.
The best memes that have come from leftypol are the ones that highlight the absurdity of the post-modern late-capitalist condition.
I highly recommend that anyone interested in memes read the Situationalists. Society of the Spectacle is a good start.
