The PC98 OS is a modified version of DOS. But what do you mean when you say they're "porting" it? Are they making a full-scale emulator, or some kind of "Free PC98" to boot into?

the PC98 had higher graphics quality than western monitors because they needed the extra quality to read japanese characters, which is why they looked better.

It's a Japanese PC that was popular in the 80/90s that got a ton of porn games made for it. It wasn't really made for gaming, so it has mostly VNs.

I remember there's one great shmup on the PC-98. Not worth buying the system for on its own though. If you want a great Japanese gaming computer go for an MSX2 or X68000.
