Are you a whale?

Are you a whale?

You are anonymous. You have no reason to hide it. Honesty time.
Have you ever bought microtransactions? and just how much of a whale are you?

More and more you hear of westerners paying like 30 grand into a fucking mobile game and its becoming the western version of 'chinese couple plays WoW till baby starves to death tier obsession.

So just to satisfy my morbid curiosity i gotta ask who is the biggest whale?
I remember one user spend 3 grand in Guild Wars 2 and thats a fucking waste of DOSH if ever i've seen one.

Not sure what high point you need to reach to called a Whale But I have dropped hundreds in games I enjoyed without problem. I purchased 62 skins in LoL over 2 year period before I stopped playing 2-3 years ago. I purchased about 200 packs in Duelyst before I stopped. Like I said if I enjoy a game I have no problem dropping $$$

Only willing to pay for games I want to see more of
Opened a crate once and decided it was a waste

Kill yourself NeoFag I mean unironically fucking grab a belt a commit suicide

Thats not '4am' tier but yes you are a 'heavy user' tier whale to analysts.

I admit I've spent over $1,000 in Dota 2 over the years. I've also bought lootboxes in Overwatch and plenty of microtransactions in WoW. I fucking regret it all, but I still feel utterly filthy. As for my weight, I'm not fat. I got quite a gut but not fat overall.

nani?

Bought gold and level boosts like a lazy faggot, as well as cosmetic pets and mounts.

A few Mann Co. keys back in 2010 or so. If only I had known what that would lead to.

I sometimes pay to remove ads, but that's it.

Never.

I am proud to never have bought jack shit in terms of microtransactions and am even prouder to completely refuse to play a game if it has them.

I think I spent like $5 on keys for csgo once, only managed to break even.

Though I made the money back tenfold by just selling shit i get from events. You suckers can't get enough of this pixel shit, and I will be happy to take your cash off your hands.

I never bought a game in my life

Suck my dick losers

These are the games I have that include microtx. I never bought microtx's and comparatively, I've spent very little time on them.

No and never will.
I don't pre order, don't do day1 buy, the only DLC I'll get is if it's on a package sale included. I've spent 2 years playing a certain older game but it's just a game and fun for me, not a monetary investment or not so virtual vegas. Screw this whales fellating bullshit the industry is pursuing.

I got swept up in the lootbox/hat craze when it first came about.
"A few dollars here and there" Every few months. I always justified it as "Well I'm helping to fund Valve", look how that turned out…
But it all adds up, after a while I had spent over $150 on TF2.

After tallying all of this up, I realized I had an issue and addressed it. I'm glad I resolved it before we have all the shit we do today.

Then all the years I played WoW. The subs, server transfers, expansions etc, I had spent well over $2000.
Also, buying games day 1, then getting ripped off with all the DLC and other bullshit, paying $120+ for the experience, while people who waited a few months get a "Complete GOTY" edition for a faction of the price I paid for the base game.

I remember buying some of the money cards for maplestory as gifts, but never used them myself. I am currently tempted to but get some of the Fate leaders for shadowverse, but holy shit, somehow I did not expect the gem prices to be so high. It's like 10 dollars for a leader. I could buy part of a game for that!

Anyone also get freaked out when they see something like "spend $60 dollars for some in game currency!" Just the idea of me stresses me out.

SIXTY DOLLARS

Around $300 into koei warriors dlcs
Around $600 into warframe
Around $200 into blacklight: retribution
Around $200 into DOA5 costumes
And bunch of dlcs for Disgaea 5, Oneechanbara Z2, and other games…

I like to buy dlcs and microtransaction stuff for games i use to play a lot. Warframe was my biggest spend i guess. PS4 really hypnotizes you into sucking that corporate dick.

unemployed or Brazilian, either way, worthless lol

No really, no. I'm not gonna spend money on virtual cosmetics and anything that has p2w is not worth playing to begin with

I just can't sympathize at all with people who waste their savings on microtransactions. Like watching someone stick their hand into fire and complain of the heat.

Retards should consider selecting themselves out of the genepool, preferably by visiting /suicide/ first. The non retards above should feel pretty good about themselves and should know they're pretty cool. I would buy them beer.

Holla Forums - a place where Holla Forums says to you not to buy video games
Also:
Good riddance you're being replaced.

I've bought micro transactions before, though the most I ever spent was somewhere between 100-150 dollars in the gem store for GW2 sometime a few months into its lifespan from release. Also about 60 dollars on Planetside 2 and something around 40 dollars split between TF2 cosmetics and Dota 2 cosmetics. I also used to have a pretty intense urge to own all the DLC for any game that I owned due to a sense of having all the content, regardless of how frivolous and low quality it might be.

I'm really glad I broke away from all of this behavior a while ago now. I can't really play any game that contains any trace of this sort of payment model because now it just makes me angry that some sort of content, no matter how irrelevant, is locked behind a secondary paywall. F2P with a cashshop is the worst business model ever. I can't imagine the position I would be in a few years ago with way more access to disposable income and a bit less self control if I was tempted by those systems. Lootboxes and microtransactions in general prey massively upon OCD completionist tendencies like crazy.

Not even once actually. I don't play f2p games because I know they're deliberately wasting my time to try to get me to buy shit. I also don't buy cosmetic DLC. I even avoid gameplay DLC if it doesn't look like its worth the asking price.

Why

I once bought 20e worth of platiunum in Warframe from a sale.

gg, if you're not white then do whatever you want. Consider becoming a tranny too.

The Sony ecosystem in general and the way they market their products is a huge turn off for me wanting to even buy digital games from them. I genuinely don't understand how someone could shell out that much money. Do you have some kind of personality disorder or something?

I have not.

No. Since working full time I haven't bought a single game, or anything vidya related. There's nothing worth spending money on tbh. At this point i'm just waiting on M&B:B. I miss when there were videogames worth buying.

user, they have a:
Pet Shop
Mount shop
Server Transfers
Faction Changes
Name changes
Buying those tokens you can sell on the auction house for gold
That's all I know of, though I havent played in half a decade. I'm sure there's more.

Most people who hate microtransactions are white straight males. Coincidence? I think not.

I spent 15$ on pokemon go and about 30$ on fallout shelter, but since they were on mobile Im not sure if they count. Other than that maybe a season pass for elite dangerous and some payday 2 items. The payday 2 ones were heists and maps which was split between a group of us since only one needed the dlc.

I've probably spent between 1,000 USD and 3,000 USD on trading card games across my lifespan. Can't say I've gotten bad mileage out of them. I still use some of them and the total number of friend-hours associated with that dollar amount, priceless really. Pokemon, Magic and Yugioh! aren't that different than Madden/Assassin's Creed/Call of Duty now that I think about it.

That said, it is fucking stupid to buy pieces of cardboard, especially for a competitive scene, and now that I'm older I just play houserules games with my friends using a cardpool I can continue to expand very cheaply. I do theory with my friends and use their cards if they want me to come play Star Wars Destiny or something.

Vidya-wise, I bought Bloodborne's DLC, and continue to be a Sonygger paying for Internet twice so I've been getting cucked on that for like two years or so. With some exceptions, I generally don't buy digital shit for games that'll be dead eventually and try to get all my shit on disk and/or a 'legal copy for archival purposes/personal use' so I can keep treating games as something of a personal investment capable of being shared. Not financial investment, you just lose there. Got into Gamecube collecting due to nostalgia goggles; the increasing cost of "Gamecube tax" makes Dolphin or whatever you kids use these days far more appealing.

Spent five dollars in the hey day of TF2.

Some games literally force players to pay up certain amount in microtransactions.

FIFA games force people to buy player cards to succeed in new modes
NFS games on mobile once forced f2p players to buy literal car fuel for real money
Newest Shadow of War doesn't show off full features of nemesis system and doesn't even end unless you buy dlcs and microtransactions. You can't even unlock best orcs for your army without paying money for it. Its FIFA's player cards, but for a fantasy game.

EA games. Turn PLAYer into PAYer.

Back in high school, my friends, being straight, white and male were all over TF2 hats, crates, and shit. One time, tried getting me to spend the $5 to unlock my inventory for trades since they found out I was deleting stuff to free space.

I bought all DLC for red dead redemption. including that gambling one even though I didn't even want to play online poker. I paid for that $15 gambling DLC just because I wanted the costumes it came with.
I bought all the DLC for Arkham City too, including the costumes. Elderly batman and Batman Forever was too cool to pass up.

That's really all the cancer I've participated in.

Physical swag is always acceptable compared to 1s and 0s.

After years and hundreds of hours playing Path of Exile I shelled out 20 bucks for some stash tabs, other than that I've never spent a cent in f2p games.

I've spent about 20 bucks on cosmetic spaceship stuff in elite dangerous over the past year. It looks fucking cool shut up.

Back when I was in an all white high school we would fistfight each other for fun and play split screen MP games after everyone was too tired and hurt. Of course, my hometown didn't have anything faster than dialup until 2014.

Yes but they try to coerce you into buying that crap by having no cosmetic options obtainable by actually playing the game.

No.

A few times, nothing much. I'd be more worried about the crappy games I've bought and enjoyed.

I don't understand what you mean by being a whale? Is it someone who buys a lot of digital shit?

I have spent like $10 on digital cosmetic things.

I don't understand why people buy loot boxes. I can understand the lotto, it could be quick cash but loot boxes are nothing. Its a model file and skin at best.

no because i don't play shit games

I've probably spent several thousand dollars on all the video games, video game consoles and PC parts I've used to play games with in my life
This is a pretty serious problem honestly.

No, I can honestly say that I've never bought a microtransaction - even on a free to play game. At best, I've bought DLC packs for games and mini-expansions like Courier's Stash for New Vegas. Maybe a few items and costume packs for PSP2 Infinity.

I did used to pay subscriptions for MMOs, so I'm technically part of the cancer if you go all the way back to it's roots, but even when those games started to free to play it annoyed the shit out of me that there wasn't an option to just pay a sub for full access to everything. This bullshit of multiple currencies each requiring their own grind and each with their own shortcut to just buy into chaffs my asshole too much.

Part of it just that I'm an extremely cheap fuck, and I don't spend money unless I actually feel like I'm getting something of value for it - a good or a service. Microtransactions are neither goods or services. It's like paying to put a vending machine in your house, paying for the shit that goes into it, and that you have to pay to use… and fucking lootboxes are just a whole other level of retarded bullshit designed to make you pay without even having to give you what you want from shit you already paid for.

...

Ive spent maybe $90 in dlc over the last 10 years.

To me it's much closer to gambling and casino term. That venturebeat paragraph seems a bit disingenuous to me with comparing it to "muh endangered whales and how we might hunt a species to near extinction". There might not be a huge number of vidya whales but it seems a bit overdramatic to throw in that line with the hunting and exploitation. Like it does not want to address the implication that companies \ casinos would rather cater to whales if they bring in enough profit.
also that bit about
can fuck right off a cliff.

I wish the fucks would just drop the pretense of niceties and use the more accurate gambling definition of the word.
archive.fo/Jqc0T

As we mentioned earlier, every casino in the world is faced with the same problem – they all have the same product! There is only so many ways to dress up a blackjack table, baccarat game or roulette wheel but in the end the majority of product offerings are very similar. Because of this, casinos must take a dynamic approach to gain a competitive advantage over the competition which includes the design of their property, its amenities, the level of customer service provided and their rewards program.
Keep in mind that both high rollers and whales are already wealthy individuals who are accustomed to the finer things in life, and will absolutely not risk their hard earned money at a property unless it delivers on each of the criteria mentioned above. The whale world is a buyers market and a finicky player can easily decide to switch properties if they are unhappy with how they are treated during their stay.

My girlfriend is a huge whale in Granblue Fantasy.
She just loves them jpgs.

Yep. Bought plenty of keys on TF2 and CS GO.

In TF2 I was a kid, and didn't know any better when it came to getting those cool items I wanted.

In CS GO, I kinda did know better. I guess I liked the thrill of it, the gambling aspect or whatever. I don't open cases any more because it's stupid expensive compared to just buying shit on the market.

There's also FFXIV where I've bought a fantasia and server transfer. Probably buy a namechange at some point too, because it doesn't fit my character any more.

So yeah, I suppose I am a whale. Still, these are all games where I've gotten very good value for my money, even with the whaling, considering the amount of time I've spent on them. I don't regret it outside of TF2 and I wish I'd had realised what a scam case opening is in CS earlier. I'm content, though.

i've bought all the hearthstone adventures i completely regret it, even though i still play the game
i also have about 10 skins on league of legends. haven't played that for at least 4 years now

Financial responsibility is an incredibly important part of maintaining any long-term relationship. Be careful.

Shit experiences:
Bought some keys + MvM tickets for TF2, maybe 10 euros worth.
Bought Dark Souls full-price based on internet hype but found out it was shit.
Bough Mass Effect full-price based on hype again, ended up hating it.
Bought Xcom for consoles, only for EW to appear weeks later which I also ended up buying. Both were on sale fortunately.
Bought SFIV: Arcade Edition on sale only for Ultra to be announced a month later.
Bought GTAIV for more than retail price.
Bought Asura's Wrath full fucking price based on trailers alone and bought the ending after getting scammed into thinking I was getting a full game. The game was ok, but DLC ending soured the whole experience.

Risky but good experiences:
Bought the Zombie maps for WaW and enjoyed them.
Bought one CoD4 map-pack.
Bought MGR:R and Anarchy Reigns day one, was pleasantly surprised.
Bought God Hand full price and haven't regretted it since.
Bought God of War 1 and 2 full price, money well spent.

I have been burned enough to know that a price tag does not always guarantee quality. I have always been a penny-pincher if we don't count the times I bought shit at full price, those were my impulse buys. I hate DLC and if I have to buy them, it needs to be cheap, a full-on expansion, or ideally both. Everything I buy now, I buy from sales.

I am dissapoint.

Nigger, I have nearly all the Prime frames without dropping a dime on the game. If I can hawk shitty mods/parts for in-game currency, you can too. Now head on over to the WF thread so I can laugh at you.

I bought a founders pack for warframe

If you're talking microtransactions only I might've spent about 20-25 $ total, 5 of which were on extra fuel kikery for Ace Combat Infinity. If you count DLCs then add about some 15 more which I spent on memelands 2 when I bought it both for me and a friend. That's about it really, I never indulged in buying cosmetics mostly because half the time they're not even that worth the price, and also because I'm poor.

she makes far more money than I do

what the fuck are you doing?

Not always how much you make but how much you keep.

i am anti-whale
i cant remember when was last time i bought a game
i dont even pirate games that often
most of the games i play are libre

Over the span of 10 years (5 on 5 off) I racked up that kind of bill in optional jewery alone. Do I regret it? Yes and no. I regret spending the money, but the memories… The memories are almost worth it.

Not surprising. It appears the reddit cancer has finally reared its ugly head.

Microtransactions I have bought:

$5 Tribes starter pack.

about $50 in cash and $50 in bot-farmed e-giftcards over two years in Mabinogi. Later I got frustrated with how p2w the game was and sold my account for $1500.

I also bought the Isengard expansion in LOTRO after it went f2p, and bought a few months of VIP subscription.

It's funny you made this thread today.
I was playing PSO2 for a while now, and never spent a cent on it. I really appreciate how generous its monetary model is, and wish other f2p games were mimicking it.
That being said today they released an update that finally let you play as a full fledged skeleton.
Unlike 99% of other cosmetics that you can buy from other players with in game money, this one is "premium" which you can only get by spending 5000 yen which is roughly $44 and you won't be able to sell or trade it later.
Of course for those money you will also get a bunch of tradable goodies, that can potentially be quite expensive like lobby actions or hair styles.

So here I am thinking whether I should give a game that bestowed hundreds of hours of legit fun on me for free a bunch of money, that I won't be able to refund. And being online game it will close eventually too.
What do you think?

Does "whale" no longer refer to obese women?

I believe I sank around 300GBP into Maplestory back in 2008-2010 or so. Either on NX or 3rd party websites, buying mesos.

Don't do it.

Landwhale is probably still recognized as "fat women".

...

I've made a mistake that I regret it to day……Spent at least a good $1,000 Dollars for the Galleon On Archeage….I still feel horrible.

Keep hitting my head over that. Wasted money, on a semi-dead game, if not dead already. Could've used that money to put it into a beast PC build.

This, Spain managed to go bankrupt in 1607 despite enormous amounts of gold and silver it received from New World. should simply be careful and encourage responsible spending whenever it's tactful.

Ok.
To think of all possible things they made the one I wanted in the game the most untradable.
It's like they know what they are doing.

Also fuck you Dark Souls is the best video game.

I thought landwhale referred to fatties in general.

Only game I ever donated to was Fragoria, a russian browser MMO. I still feel like a retard for wasting those 50 roubles, and that was a decade ago.

At that point I'd want to know where the fuck all that money I've been funneling into the game came from and what the fuck I'm doing with my life.

I'll never pay for microtransactions.

I have never spent a single cent in any mmo cash shop.

I found out Demon's was better, and that's AFTER I finished Dark. Levels were much more fleshed out, better enemies, better hub, better world-building. Felt much more of a gritty adventure than Dark ever did.

Bought a key from a TF2 crate once when they were first implemented out of curiosity. I got a hat for the Demoman, and that was cool for about 10 seconds, then I felt stupid for paying $2.50 for the key.

I bought a skin pack or two for Killing Floor 1, I guess that counts right?

Spent maybe $40 on CS:GO but my inventory is worth several hundred Steam bucks today so if I wanted I could liquidate it and buy games.

I think that's it.

I spent 200$ on a trading ship like an idiot, so don't feel too bad.
Over the years I've spent around 8,000$ on video games, dlc, systems, and micro transactions. At least 3,000$ of that is micro transactions. Makes me a little sick to think about, being that it is something I've just kinda ignored till now.

Jim Sterling? Is it really you?

Most I've spent is about $100 on runescape and I regret it every day

Never spent a dime on micro-transactions, never will.

I thought this was a thread about admitting you're overweight at first. I haven't heard this term before today. Wanted to call you out on being a data mining fuckboy. Hell, you might still be. You data mining fuckboy.
I pirate everything, and only buy games I really enjoyed playing.

Now I can only read the OP in Jim Sterling's voice.

Ah shit, now there's a game where I'm so glad I was able to resist paying for shit. I loved the game so much, but its gruesome death in the name of chasing after the LoL/DotA audience means they never deserved a single cent. I had a friend that paid $80, what a shame.

I've spent more than 100 bucks on LoL back when I used to play it. Later I decided that I will not buy into microtransactions ever again. Then, about 2 years ago, I decided that I will never spend any money on videogames ever again. Now I'm just hoping for a crash.

...

...

I played league of legends at beta and spent ~30 bongland pounds on skins - i contributed to the rise of mobas and deserve no mercy

What's the opposite of a whale? I haven't paid a cent towards games since 2006.

Yes I'm fat

I've never heard of a man being called a "whale" personally but the majority of my exposure is coming from /fit/ and I can't imagine there being many fat men with enough pictures of themself for them to wind up on /fit/. Deep down, fat men know the truth. Only women get to speak of "fat shaming". It's odd though since women are the ones that desperately need their youth whereas men can still reform themselves in their 30s.

The most I've spent is probably on WoW race changes and server transfers which was maybe a few hundred dollars but this was years ago. These days I avoid giving any more to any developer ever because they are all jews who couldn't care less about good game design and ethics.

I bought some planes for Rise of Flight. While their quality was ok, I have some regrets as it is still supporting questionable business practices.
Oh well. At least I did my research on Il-2 BoS, and I won't be buying it, even if they would release a cheap collector's edition, because just like RoF, it has always online account based drm bullshit

No.
No.
However I like to play f2p games, mainly for abusing RNG skills to make top players mad, majority of them are probably whales.

Holy shit, I am disappointed at you Holla Forums from at how many of you anons here are cancer that kills vidya.

I've spent a whole bunch of money on TF2, but most of it was to get keys that I could trade for items and then flip for a profit. I haven't used money from my bank account on steam for a very long time.

How is that any different from gambling?

сочувствую

I'm not the one opening the crates. You've got to be a real good goy to do that.

I've spend a lot of money in Champions Online.

There is nothing I regret more.

I bought about $1 of furni in habbo hotel back when it was still relevant. Then I started scamming people instead; it was ten times more successful and it was more fun

I'm not stupid enough to spend real money on DLC, skins, bonus characters, stronger weapons etc.
Only retarded fanboys do that.
Guild Wars 2 playerbase is a special kind of stupid, many american players spend over 1500$ on that shit game every year. These extreme fangoys who spend that kind of money on that shit game are literally the only ones who keep those clueless stupid fags from Arenanet from becoming unemployed. Companies like Arenanet don't deserve money but a boot far up their asses.

Same
I just want my Medic to be a pretty girl

>sell it for whatever pric- HOLY SHIT 34 refined metal
Yeah that's gambling right there, dipshit
>tfw TF2's economy has crashed and scrapbanking is almost near-worthless

Literally who?

No, I refuse to spend money on online games.

Probably a goon or Holla Forums doing some typical D&C work.

There are millions of people out there, right now, opening CS:GO crates.

I may have bought an item or two in order to help make my character look like my waifu in a couple games, but otherwise I avoid spending any money.

I don't like to admit it but I've thrown down a few 100's on games. Most of the time it's spent on getting gifts for my friends who play the game. Stuff like Birthday and Christmas presents. I try to only spend £10 a go every few months or so but that adds up very quickly.
I would never think of spending more than that on a game but I've known people who'll happily drop a few k's into a game to make sure they have the best gear in MMOs at the start.

I did drop £30 into TF2 to start trading. I made it upto a £200 unusual which I ended up selling to a friend for £144 in the form of figures so I'm not mad about that.

...

The supposed successor to City of Heroes.

Then the chinese bought Cryptic.

I've bought a membership and imaginary internet money for a game before.
I did have fun so I don't regret it that much.

Why do people do this? When something doesn't cause direct harm, it's much more effective to mock and make jokes out of it to make it uncool, than to try to scare people out of it.

You're first. Death Note has been mentioned a lot lately. Is it because of Netflix's shitshow?

Why did GW2 have to be so shit? I'm still mad

Because your reality is really sinister. A man of a young fighting age kills bears, rips their skin, cooks meat and makes himself clothes of bear pelt. He knows how to make fire, he knows how to build a house, he knows how to rise children, he knows how to secure his own survival, and eventually survival of his family.
A man of modern day would die of hunger in forest or poison himself somewhere, while worrying how much money he owns to his divorced wife and thinking of video games as the only thing that made him comfortable before dying.
Its just pathetic to the point when anyone from the past would look at current generation of nu-human like on total lazy trash that deserves to be purged all together. You're dependent on technology, comfort, luxery. Without those constantly keeping you alive you're nothing. Now even your pleasures and accomplishments are accumulated in 1's and 0's, not even something that exists.

Honestly even Holla Forums is rather addicting source of non-existent pleasure and i need to go work out.

tbh only Holla Forums and Holla Forums randomly throw in nigger and get upset when their board get mentioned

kek knew someone would mention Holla Forums yall need to chill the fuck out and stop chomping at the boogeyman.

I've bought some MTX for Path of Exile over the course of the game's existence. Probably spent a ~$300 on it since 2012 during closed beta to current year. Have thousands of hours logged in game though, so it felt appropriate for a game that is otherwise free to play.

I've bought a few MTX for other games here and there but generally they don't appeal to me on the whole so I don't bother. Definitely not a whale, in fact I can't even fathom how someone could justify spending some of the sums that get thrown around when this topic comes up.

(Checked?)
Are you okay, user?

I dropped like, $9 into MGS5 for MB coins so I could build up my third and fourth FOBs because fucking hell those requirements for development. That's all. Hell, I've never purchased a Virtual Console game.

Playing a game that has it and not buying it gives me immense satisfaction, in fact I have a fetish for good deals and rarely buy a game full price. I still remember when I found this 3 dollars SCII WoL battle net pass for 1 month on a shop and to my surprise it gave me the game for free.

I bought DLCs before however, not many, all for games I was sure it would be good

Buying valve game loot boxes is as low as it gets, in fact I`ve made money by selling random drops until they started asking for celphone numbers to be able to use their market

I bought all the Xenoverse 2 DLC because I have such nostalgia for Z. It's all terrible shit but I do it because for five minutes I feel like I'm a ten year old kid again, running into the loungeroom at 7 AM to see if Goku beats Frieza.

CS:GO crates is some giga-kike bullshit.

This one time I spent a hundred bucks on Battleforge, but that's about it.

I've spent $5 on blacklight retribution to get some cosmetic shit, and another $5 on planetside 2 to get some cosmetic shit.

kinda wish i didn't for planetside, because even though i was only interested in a few paltry cosmetics planetside fucked you over anyways gameplay wise. blacklight at least was very fair about the f2p aspect.

Whales are by their nature blithering normalfag idiots. No actual Holla ForumsIrvin has the money or low intelligence to fall for p2w shit.

No i'm not, but i found the "flopped whale" stories and vids pretty amusing. Paying money and still shitting yourself with your insta-win sets is the most hilarious thing i just know.

Just read this thread to see how many idiots are here.

Blame Mark.

Never paid a cent for any sort of microtransaction. And considering the quality of most modern games (and where publishers are going with it) I'm not gonna pay a dime for ANY "triple A" game until I downloaded it for free, tried it out and deemed it worthy of my hard-earned money.

Just the other day I thought, "Maybe I'll buy a new video game" but then I went "Nah I'll just play the ones I already have."

What is this user talking about?

I have bought a league of legends skin before and did not regret it. I dont have a problem paying for cosmetic bullshit that doesnt effect gameplay. BUT ONLY IN GAMES WHERE NO non-cosmetic purchases can be bought

I also won a contest for $20, which wasnt my own money, but was able to buy stuff in Path of Exile

I think maybe like $25 all up. $15 on 1 CSGO skin and like $10 on other random games over the past like 8 years. I don't think thats all that bad really.

I'm a whale for Gaia Online.

I just like the sprite art. I'm so sorry.

Oh
Well, i don't what to feel about this, does it play the same?

That must be the most blalant datamining bullshit right there, i bet Valve used the 'we can't just let 13 y/o kids be scammed by other people (except us) so thats why we're implementing this goy!' excuse to justify this piece of shit smartphone bullcrap. I swear to fucking god, anytime a developer adds a fucking restriction on doing things, they're no different than a fucking government who adding more and more bullshit laws just so they can have more goddamn taxes on top of you.

>on one gun skin
You're right though, compared to the usual normalfags who play that skinnerbox crap, you're not that bad. Then again i did bought this stupid sticker unironically when i used to play CS:GOy

It's pretty obvious from the context, user

I've spent like $200 between Idolmaster CGSS (fucking maid Uzuki) and Fire Emblem Heroes.
I'm not planning to spend a cent more. I'm done.

Do your parents know this is how you spend your allowance?

I bought the DLC for Bloodborne and that is the only money I have ever paid for additional content. A grand total of twenty bucks.

Honestly I do it for the lewd avatar parts, which I then use to pretend to be a girl. I find the thirstiest guys I can in the Roleplay Seeking forums, then once we've reached the point of no return in ERP (which technically isn't allowed on the site but they don't read unreported PMs) I reveal myself to be male. The salt is wonderful.

This is about microtransactions. Think costume DLC or other utterly trivial stuff.

Don't even think for a second I have forgotten about you gaiafags. You and the furries will forever be my sworn enemies.

That's honestly pretty funny, but you really shouldn't waste your money on weeb trash, user. And I mean weeb in the most literal sense of the word.

I've never paid for microtransactions.

Marxism and SJWs, with a side of jews.

Also here, google the game if you want to get even madder.

I've never bought any temporary boosts, never bought any skins, I have bought dlc that was short, overpriced, disappointing bullshit though. Am I a whale?

Illya was my very first and most likely my last microtransation. I don't regret it at all.

up until this year I'd never bought a micro transaction in my life as far as I can remember. I still feel slightly ashamed for doing so, but it was Fenix in co-op commanders in SC2, my only micro transaction ever purchased. But Blizzard lied saying it was the real Fenix when it was just Talandar, their cheap SC2 clone replacement so I was pissed.
Don't buy micro transactions anons, or you are the cancer.
I might make an exception for Hollow Knight if it had any of them, game was only 15$ and they honestly deserve more money tbh

I have an addictive personality, so these lootboxes tap into that very fucking thing, strangely though actual gambling with cards or dice or any other method dont trigger it for me, I usually walk away after a winstreak and a net gain or small loss and say thats enough for me.
However fucking Lootboxes tap into my fucking psyche and it takes physical will to not buy the things in a game I like.

I probably spent something like 500 or 600 bucks on a single game.

But it's an MMORPG that I've been playing on and off since 2012 and have literal thousands of hours on it…

Note that it's the only game I did this and it's the bill for a mix of DLC (with actual game content) and boosts.
If it continue for 3 years I will probably spend 300$ more on it.
But again I really like it and I don't want the servs to shut down, so I don't mind dropping what is ultimately 10$ a month in it (for at least 60h of actual game per month).

I have never paid for microtransactions. I never will. The increased greediness and grasping of game publishers has led me to focus more and more on completely offline games.

Does Rock Band DLC count? I have a lot of that but I spent a downright embarrassing portion of my time on Rock Band so it's not like I wasted the cash. Modern pay2win trash and loot boxes, not even once.

I pirate all of my game or borrow them from someone or play a demo before I buy it.
If I like a game I pirate, I will buy it.
Also anyone who spends more than $20 on a computer game is retarded.

Any more videos like this webm? Morbidly curious.

I took 2 of those -75% platinum discounts on Warframe and bought the 45€ pack twice.
That's 90€ spent on something I've played for over 5 years. Never run out because I don't spend it like a retard.

Otherwise… I once put 10€ on Neverwinter Nights online.
Yes I know. I was curious to see what you get out of it.
Spoilers: you get jackshit. 20€ might give you some crates that might contain some currency that you spend on actual cosmetics. There's a lot of RNG involved that I wanted to test, hence the 10€. After doing the calculations, one of the lowest tier, shittiest cosmetic would come out as 35€. Those 10€ were well spent since they taught me a valuable lesson.

I've bought 5 keys on TF2, I think. It really wasn't worth it and the cosmetics weren't that good either.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE GACHASHIT AND TF2/OVERCUCK/MMO THREADS ON THIS BOARD
NOTHING BUT ADDICTED RETARDS WHO ONLY EXPERIENCE SKINNERBOXES AND METASHIT GAMES TO DEATH!!!

ALSO, GREAT DATAMINING THREAD, FUNNY HOW THIS WAS ONLY CREATED AFTER THE CUCKCHANNERS FLOODED HERE BECAUSE OF THEIR CUCK NEOFAG MODS

Pretty standard amount for most wow players from what i've seen, if not a bit on the low side.

Never understood the allure of skins. Could an user explain the interest to me? Is it just the gambling aspect? But they're not winning anything, other than a rare texture to show they have a rare color scheme others dont. It doesn't add extra effects or anything does it? Or are they happy because they sell it for a few hundred dollars or something, and it's like a mini jackpot?

I bought 2 or 3 month WoW subs trice before quitting back in the vanilla days. Took me awhile to realize it's not my type of a game. Other than that I haven't wasted my money on shit like microtransactions and I hope everyone who has done so would just kill themselves to cleanse the overall genepool of humanity. Just the idea of paying for good loot kind of ruined grinding games for me, even those that don't have any microtransactions. I can't play games that are designed to be addictive rather than genuinely good and fun that even the game developers wants to play.

nice red blob of caps my friend

didn't read tho

I bought Chinese gold for wow in its first year, and five years ago world transfers for about 3 characters to play together with my girlfriend

I'll never do such things again, even though I don't regret it because getting gold to get started in vanilla wow was genuinely hard and it helped me become immensely rich with this Kickstart, playing the auction house
And it was a nice bonding moment to play with my girlfriend for some months, even though maybe we should have started from scratch both of us anyway

Don't do it. The game didn't 'give' you anything. By participating in a game with microtransactions you are actually giving the game worth for the people who buy shit. You owe neither the game nor the company that runs it a single fucking dime. It is not a FREE game. You are investing time in it. The fact that you continue to play it shows that you value it and that value is why OTHER people can justify throwing money away on it.

Again, you do not owe them anything and are infact part of their business model. You're essentially working for them so consider it an equal trade. Beyond those reasons if you WANT a skellington skin then that's another story, but don't try and rationalize that you're doing it to REPAY a company that is using you. Ask yourself wether you're fine for paying for something purely for yourself, if any other reasoning pops up along the way the answer is no.

Spent $2.5 just to try out a couple of weapons on a cheap Counter Strike clone MMO. Found a pretty damn good reason not to do it again, ever.

Yes it does, Mark. The pricing model of games like Rock Band are designed so that the value of each item (song, in this case) is far too low to be worth the money, but the total amount of money spent per item is too low to be a worry on an individual basis, to encourage a "just one more" kind of mindset, not unlike fast food. But with fast food, at least you get sustenance.

Man shall not live by bread alone

I spent maybe like 25 euros on World of Tanks once.

Low-effort DLC content is not every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

I spent over a hundred on getting a car up to ExSpec in Initial D Arcade Stage 8.
I desperately wanted to enjoy a new SEGA arcade racer, and an arcade near me had just opened with four IDAS8 cabinets. But it turned out SEGA locked away the speed and challenging physics until you upgraded a car to exspec.

Most I ever spent was about forty dollars on MvM tour of duty tickets. I haven't spent a cent on any free to play game since.

No, I'm too slav for that shit. I don't think I even bought any games over the last couple of years. Not with real money, at least.

I bought about $10 of DLC for Resident Evil Revelations 2. That is the greatest extent to which I have wasted money on microtransations, and I heavily regret it.

I'm like an anti whale. Somewhere around TF2 going F2P I started playing that game and Dota quite a lot, getting whatever worthless skins/crates/weapons and selling them for cents, and then using that money to buy whatever game I thought was interesting and was cheap enough at the time
It's how I started playing the Ys series now that I think about it.

Pic is bullshit! How can you have anything in your steam library if you pirate even free games. I officially declare chad a BuyFag.

it says he owns CSGO and dota. How else will he be patriotic enough to wear his t-shirt, you dumbass.

He should be below virgin, or at least removed.

Never paid for microtransactions.
Actually sent a message to Riot Games asking if they could prevent my account from receiving mystery gifts because my friends constantly sent them to me as a joke, knowing I hated them.

I put in 20 dollars into Shark Cards at launch, and another 20 during the Biker update. Never again.

over 4 years i've spent probably ~$30 in Warframe plat, almost all of it spent on inventory space, and only with a >=50% discount.

I think I also probably spent ~$15 in Station Cash during the ~3 years played PS2. Mostly just to get promotional weapons that came with the purchase though.

Nah that spoiler throws your whole story away, surely my friend you will not accept and hate this free shit for a game you play, unless you are a gurl and you are dismissing all these beta male gifts

It was because of a few things.
1. I actually fucking hated League of Legends but it was the only game my friends and I would play together. I didn't want to spend any money on that piece of shit game and I didn't want them to spend any money on it, either.
2. I only played maybe five or six of the characters I owned, but I owned almost every character in the game. With the way mystery gifts worked, I was basically constantly getting skins for characters I never played, never wanted to play, sucked at playing with, and then they'd make fun of me like "Hey you just got a skin for that other character, why don't you play as them?"
3. I honestly preferred the default skins for 90% of the characters but I can't bring myself to use the default skin if I own a different skin for the character.

One. I upgraded a free Eve Online account to a paid one once. Only payed for one month and played with Holla Forums and I didn't play it outside of that month because I got bored of the game.

I almost paid to unlock Squirrel Girl (the original one and not the new tumblr-tier one) in Marvel Heroes before that, but decided against it because I wasn't playing the game with anyone and Storm not only did the job but she was OP while doing it.

Bought some decals and mechpacks from time to time. In more than 2years spent around 500€. I fucking love mechwarrior online, especialy the community.

Never shilled hundreds on any game, but most I've spent has been on Warframe. I dislike sitting around in trade chat trying to get plat for weapon slots or catalysts so every now and again I buy some platinum, usually when there's a deal on

fucking retard, you could have bought that for less than 1 refined easily.

Never spent a cent on any of that bullshit. Never bought a game peddled by megacorps. Only ever bought spiderweb software games after i pirated them. Noticing a real correlation between weebs who post smug anime girls and being pathetic faggots who actually spend REAL MONEY ON MICROTRANSACTION CANCER. I really hope you autists don't think you'll be spared the rope when the time comes. "Muh waifu" Fuck off and stay off

fuck off goon, you're even more pathetic than the idiots who buy microtransations

When the day of the rope comes, you're probablygoing to run out of rope and even places to hand people long before you get to the waifufags.

No. Buying useless garbage is practically equivalent to useless garbage.
>always acceptable compared to 1s and 0s.
Not if it's actually good DLC comparable to what would be called an expansion in the old day, and also not day 1 bullshit.

I've bought some WoW microtransactions. I've bought:

I refuse to buy WoW tokens on principle, but I think I've come out fairly unscathed.

Butthurt waifufag and/or day one dlc buyer detected. You're the cancer killing videogames. Even indieshit has more integrity

can you even stop having fun with ALL these games you are playing user

Commonly used in many reddit mobile game /r.
I have never seen this term used before until I saw this thread. Really activates my almonds.

The only microtransaction I have ever made was buying a guild chest in path of exile.

I haven't spent anything on microtransactions but I've definitely dropped a few grand on Steam games because I'm gay.

Yeah same. I bought the season pass for basically no reason other than I have a crippling addiction to DBZ games.
Hopefully I can be strong when Fighter Z drops. yeah right

The fact that they cry about their linear moeblobbish final fantasy clones made of sugar, samefaced, plate eyed dolls and colored hairs in motherfucking western rpg thread is astonishing. Reminder that anime is not an artform. Even flawed western games are superior to anything japanese, since japan has no taste, it makes same looking and same playing shit since this century began. No wonder they now all play shitty mobile games, because jrpg grindan is no different from a mobile clicker. Japs put no effort into their games, they just get the crowd of moe loving faggots addicted to shit gameplay and shit visuals. Of course good japanese games exist, but they come out once in the 5-7 years and this isn't shit weebs usually consume, they also don't contain anime and directors of those projects hire actual fucking artists (nioh, dragon's dogma, dark souls). Japanese gamedev could be better, but moeloving consumers with waifu panties on their heads will not let the garbage go away. And you stuck with SJW culture not only as a destructive element, but also as an apologism for weebshit lovers on Holla Forums.

Why are people who spend money for ingame items called whales? In my times whales referred to fat women.

Is this some clever biology joke where single whale carcass supports an entire ecosystem in the ocean floor?

...

I have also bought runite 2h from my friend when i was 12.
Runescape… cutting wood through night. Jesus fuck what a stupid game.

...

it’s a reddit term
urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Whale

You disgust me. You may never see this, but if you do, take a look at this: So, when I was in grade four and five, I helped out this teacher. She was an LST teacher, and she was with this boy named Jack. Jack had autism. He couldn't speak, but he was surprisingly well at expressing how he feels. Like they say, actions and reactions speak a thousand words. He had barely any friends, because they'd always avoid him because of his autism. I would always help him and his LST teacher with anything I could. I would do things for the teacher like set up activities for Jack, refill his water bottle, because the teacher had to watch him, I would read to him, and try and help him in any way I could within the classroom. Despite being unable to speak, he was, like I said, the best at expressing emotions. He was in my class for my two years in grades four and five, so I was able to help as much as I could. He opened up a door I never noticed before: my understanding of other people. I used to be one of the people who avoided him, but when he was in my class, I ended up getting used to him. People picked on me for being friends with an autistic kid, but I didn't care. Jack opened up my understanding of other people and their disorders. Just because people have a certain mental disorder, like autism, ADHD, ODD or ADD, doesn't mean they can't be a good person. I hope the best for Jack, and that he can get through life in a happy, healthy way. We are one in the same. Whether someone's black or white, straight or gay, male or female, disabled or not, we are all human, and we should learn to quit putting people down just because we can. We need to respect people. How would you like it if someone was throwing racist and offensive comments at you? It's rude, right? How do you think they feel when you throw a racist comment back at them? You'll leave them feeling the same way they made you feel. Humans are a rather intelligent species, but they're always at war with each other. Whether it's full-out combat, or a random argument full of offensive comments, you have to think, 'Is this really the right thing to do?' Once you say something, it's not taken back. Same thing goes for the internet. If you type an offensive comment, and later on, delete it, Google still has it saved to their servers. You really have to think if you're doing the right thing by commenting something offensive. Put yourself in your victim's shoes. How would you like to be trampled over like a piece of trash? It doesn't feel good, right? Just to add this in: You're hearing all of this from a 12-year-old girl that has ADHD. I believe world peace is possible, if we all just try and notice what we're doing to each other.

No retard, casinos invented the term.

Its been used by corporate figures for years you stupid fucking nigger.

...

looks to me like only redditors use it in reference to microtransactions tbh famalam

If you call them whales, they'll just think you're calling them fat and it won't cut as deep.

Is this new copypasta?

When there is so much political garbage in western games, I rather would play weebshit.
I still need to play some games in my backlog yet.

Why brazil and russia so comparable? Those countries have completely incompatible cultures yet on the internet they behave absolutely the same. This is what you would call cultural paradox.

Go back there
>>>/reddit/

Its not the pasta thats new here

Nobody is going to fucking get this shit because it is an in-joke tier insult, meanwhile whale has been a term used for fags that waste thousands of dollars gambling at casinos for years. They are called whales in this instance because they keep spending thousands of dollars a year on shitty lockbox keys which in turn causes them to be one of any f2p game's primary sources of income.

tbqh I’m sorry if I upset you user-kun

the endless anger and disbelief here at the fact that no dev or publisher cares about the opinions of people who pirate everything think never fails to amuse tbh

Reminder that the board Active ISPs jumped up by like 1000 when cuckchan went full retard again. That's where all these low quality posters are from.

So it’s halfchanners + Neogaf + the occasional redditor. That explains everything then.

Well we're stuck with Mark, who won't even ban shit threads let alone shitposters.

I have some crazy deals for Loot Boxes™. What's your credit card number and expiration date?

Yet here you are.

I bought a backpack extender in TF2 to escape F2P hell, and since I had some money left over, since Valve only allows certain price increments in buying Valvebux(tm), I bought a key. I don't even remember what I used it on and what I got, so it must not have been good. Besides that, just lots of money wasted on MMO subscriptions.

Then go fuck off so there will be one less.

Low income, language barrier and general populace being retarded.

it's an addiction, im glad that im getting out of it and transitioning into an alcohol addiction instead

Yes
I was expecting cancer, its a shame it didn't remain contained though.

Get the fuck back to your niggerloving board

>>>/suicide/

I bought the premium currency for War Thunder.
That was back when you could trick it with Russian VPN and get 10x better deal.

Apparently the cuckchan mods are also deleting NeoFag threads, so you know its going to get bad.

Forgot to mention
They're deleting the threads on cuck/pol/ as well

get off my board fgts

Thanks for the bump

...

the only nonsense i have bought into is purchasing a season pass for a certain online shooter I like a lot, all the pas really did was save me from grinding though so i still feel annoyed about it. I might have bought a few cosmetic packs for SCV ages back, at the time i felt they were reasonably priced.

We should buy cakes so our Jew ovenlord doesn't do it for free (^:

cuckchan needs to die the same way neofag did.

If only, but then again, a huge chunk would come here even if the majority would go back to either Tumblr, Twitter or Reddit if sucha thing was to happen.

lol botposters.

I bought the season pass for Rainbow Six: Siege.

Technically its cheaper than buying DLC ops through their credit scheme, and faster than grinding

I'm raughing at you
t. Someone with 125k renown and all the operators, who also didn't spend anything on season passes or r6 credits

Why do I still waste my fucking time on this board?
At least WEWlads griefed and had fun, your shitty fucking generals are nothing but ASSFAGGOTS tier metafagging and cancer.

All those buzzwords and not a single one correctly used. you're right why do you waste your time here?

Bought being the operative word. I didn't say I haven't played any :^)

I only ever bought a single operator, Hibana, because I was new, wanted someone different from the base line-up and her gadget seemed incredibly useful. In hindsight, I honestly don't know why someone would pay for operators though, after getting Hibana I started amassing renown so quickly that by the time Operation Health hit I was actually suffering from a drought of content (skins and hats don't count, that shit isn't content it's a renown sink).

As a 100% new player, the only 25k operators you strictly"need" are Mira, Hibana and Valk. Everyone else ranks somewhere between "situationally useful" and "trash".

...

But that's wrong.

Valk isn't very good for new players though, she's a good pick on most maps but a "100% new" player picking valk just leads to quickly destroyed cams from overpinging on them. Buck/frost are probably the best for new players

So addicted and emotionally attached to this garbage they become delusioned, every fucking time, its not even funny.
Next you'll defend the Taser drone that can down you in 2-3 shots without armor and then kill you in 1 hit when you're down.

I once donated hundreds of shekels to the Japanese Red Cross in exchange for making some guy run around Tokyo to buy 2hu games for me. Does that count? Where did those threads go anyway? He'll come back, r-right?

A consumable gadget isn't comparable to cooldown skills in games like mobas/overwatch clones. Every single gadget can be destroyed/wasted and can't be recovered with the exception of silent step and jackals tracker (which can only scan 3 times)

taser drown does about 10 damage per hit, it would take 10+ shots to even down an enemy, so i dunno what the heck you're on about there. It isn't supposed to be used for attacking enemies in the first place and a strong wind will kill anyone while they're downed anyway.

Probably killed by Yakuza or a sadistic elementary schooler. Those threads were fun though.

All of you have to go back.

Get out goon

A good death, worthy of someone like him.

Post your face when is double reverse false flagging to make "those damn weebs" look bad

>Enough money to buy many new games
I feel intense shame that I am sharing an imageboard site with you faggots, to say nothing of sharing a board.

Welcome newfriends!

Mark spent $2000 on Rock Band DLC. Two thousand Dollary-doos. He could have bought 33 triplay games at full price withthat money, or even more non-garbage games than that. Imagine what he spends on other shit? Holla Forums's board owner is a whale.

...

I wasn't on Holla Forums at the time. What did gaia do to 4Chan?

There's no classes, only attackers and defenders
The one button thing is true, but they operate differently. Some are deployables, some are active modes.
Oh cool, so you're retarded. Have you ever wondered why people think ash and jager are overpowered despite their gadgets doing dick all?

although people don't pick ash for her gadget, i wouldn't say it does fuckall when used outside of retarded ash-meta, its great for killing dudes behind shields on point and no one ever uses it for that enough

I almost bought gems in GW2, but noticed that the amount to buy anything in their store with those gems did get me much, so i just got the fuck out of there.

do expansions count as microtransactions? i bought the broodwars expansion when it came out.

I can honestly say I've never bought Microtransactions and the most I've ever spent on a game was 40$.

Nah, that was an expansion pack, like Lord of Destruction for Diablo2. Microtransactions imo are things that wants to nickle and dimes goyi- I mean sucke- I mean people for things that used to be considered free, or community made and free, or previously standard included features.

back then an expansion was a legit expansion

I spent like 15$ on exalts during legacy on Path of Exile, but that's about it.

>he doesn't stalk people feet and smell them
Get out of here faggot.

The drone gets 10 hit points per shock. That means you need 10 to kill you and 2 if you are down. If you get killed by that GitGud

Yep. Nowadays an expansion from back then would likely be broken up into many DLCs and microtransactions and "season pass", and the total price can potentially be higher in the long run vs an expansion pack back then.

I bought the witcher 3 dlc. Does that count?

What game user? You seem to have accidentally a word.

In any case: No. I don't have enough expendable income to think about paying for video games, let alone enough to drop it on F2P games. Hell, I've only owned a mobile device with game capability for less than 2 years total in my whole life, with the present moment not being one of those times.

Of course, there's a story behind that. I did spent about a hundred on a Japanese gacha game a few years back. Virtual gambling was a good stress relief mechanism. But I can't consider spending anything until I've acquired enough piracy karma to negate that waste.

$10 way back in the golden age of ragnarok private servers for donation tickets.
About $5 for a couple of TF2 keys before I wised up.
$3 in pokecoins way back at launch hoping the game would turn into something fun surprise, it didn't
I think that's it. In the very rare case I spend extra money on a game, if the expense doesn't make a significant difference weeks down the line I'm not spending anything more on it.
On the flipside I got like $50 off a vintage medic hat, I learned then there was no real way to refund funny gaben money. So gradually spent it on sales, including csgo which netted me some tourney case which I sold for about $60.

They call those "standalone expansion" now adays user. Its basically an excuse to charge you 90% of release pricing for the same game using the same engine. Only it has a second story arc and a couple of engine bugfixes. These bugfixes come with the added benefit of splitting and eventually killing the modding scene, priming players to tire soon of your game and buying the REAL sequel when it comes out.

They just out themselves out.

Had a phase of being honestfag, buying games and so.
I bought every ME1 and 2 dlc (story) day one.
Around 60Euros on Dota2 chests.
And buying shitload of products that are in some contest for something never won anything

There is a way to be an honestfag without getting your wallet fucked.
Such as not doing that ever again.

No because when I was younger I didn't had a credit card and now I'm extremely stingy with money. But I do spend on a monthly subscription for FFXIV.

I don't think that making you a whale… they are gambling addicts rolling for mystery boxes and paid cosmetics…

I once bought the NWO-pack for some of the wrasslin' games. Please kill me before i do.

To get you to think in a certain way about something. It generally rubs me the wrong way, too. Even if I think paying for skins is the most cancerous thing ever.

Satan please, you're just going on a rant that's not even related to the webm anymore. Stop projecting your own inadequacies onto others. You're so eager to throw away the accomplishments of the human race that gave you the luxury to not have to kill wild animals to stay alive.
You do. Maybe you'll stop being so bitter when you do.

I recently bought Ghost Recon: Wildlands Gold Edition for $79.95AU.

I enjoy playing with my mates, but the fact I spent more than $25AU on a game makes me feel like killing myself, let alone the fact it's a Ubishit game.

In saying that, it's surprisingly good, which was a shock. It's just a collect, clear and repeat kind of game which can keep you amused if you're blatantly autistic like we are.

I dropped maybe 40-50$ in Warframe over four years of playing. I also did have a running EVE Online sub for almost two years.

Like 10 bucks on Planetside 2 when I was playing with Holla Forums. I know what I wanted, so I think it was fine.

Can't fathom paying money for lootcrate shit though, it's quite literally gambling. It makes me sad knowing there's victims in on this very board who try to justify their habit. You can't point it out because they'll either agree and wallow in it or throw a spergfit and call you a buzzkill.

Dude why. I can't imagine it being that much more fun with a buddy compared to playing it singleplayer. I'm glad I pirated it. There's some things about it that make me want to play more of it, but there's plenty of shit to complain about as well. Would never pay a cent for it.

Only bought warframe platinum wih 75% discount, I dont regret since the game is free to play and i was enjoying a lot at the time

few times in LoL back then when i had buddies to play it with. i wish i had enough money so i could even consider becoming a whale

I was conned into it after we all played the Beta, and with the 4 of us playing together We're all former ADF we get our tacticool on and then enjoy abusing the fuck out of each other when someone inevitably misses a shot or gets spotted.

I do massively regret buying it, but seeing as I haven't been added to upgrade my PC from it's GT710 card to something more beefy and the others are so painfully computer illiterate we were never going to be playing a pirated copy anytime soon.

I've wondered about this shit too. I don't believe that there are many men of action anymore, and that your average person lives only for himself without any higher ideals. Where do things like honor, justice, self-reliance, and resolve belong in our modern society? Men all throughout history have fought and died for a cause, or lived their lives in a way that enacted their ideals. Even in recent years there have been many revolutions, in middle-eastern countries especially, where people fight for their futures in the hopes of establishing new nations or stop revolutions in hopes of maintaining peace.

In a first world society however, how does someone show these virtues? People just seem to get an education, get a job with a livable wage, start a family if they have the means, and then just spend the rest of their lives chasing fleeting entertainment to distract them from the inevitability of death. Personally, I'd say that starting a family and creating art (art can be entertainment, but entertainment is not always art) are worthy pursuits, but how many people this day and age do these things? People just virtue signal on social media that they are virtuous and support what they believe is just, but rarely take any action for their cause. In fact, if they take any action at all it's donating money to an organization in the hopes that something will be done, which is just sad.

Maybe I've just immersed myself in too much fiction and am expecting too much, but how the hell does someone live with virtue in today's world? Every facet of your life depends on a system that preys on people's desires for decadent shit they don't need so they just turn into mindless consumers. Your happiness comes first, and as long as you have the money and are devoid of any virtue you'll waste your life chasing after dumb distractions. The lootcrate-skinner box zombies in that webm is proof of this. I'm not critiquing any economic system like capitalism or communism, any economic system is capable of placating it's people with materialistic shit and away from any higher purpose.

What is this new phrase? Is it from the Neofags who crawled here when their site died?

It's new you retard

Goddamnit, not new

I haven't heard it before either… I assumed it was to do with the Bait pics with the whale saying "you call this bait?"

I sense a NeoFaggot infiltration.

i only spend money on hardware, which extends to controllers, wheels, sticks, graphics card , headphones, etc.

The last time I've bought a game was two years ago, so no, not a whale.

I wanted to buy the full Logitec G920 wheel, pedal and stick setup but can't justify the sheer amount of space I'd need to setup a proper simseat.

It's a very old mobile gamer slang for those idiots who buy mystery boxes in (((free-to-play))) games! The very fact most of the faggots totally clueless and mix up this with actually buying games, just makes me happy. This board isn't completely a lost cause after all, and the super cancer didn't speard!

Well that explains it.

It's could be used on the shameful fucks too, who roll the microtransition business with heir money…

It comes from marketers, I think. I've seen a few articles from at least 2013 use the term. I didn't think anyone on Holla Forums uses it much, since we rarely discuss mobile games beyond the fact that they're irredeemable trash.

Top laff, my friend. Top laff.

Whale is not a new phrase, and has been used quite a while over the last few years.
The majority of the income from micro transactions come from a small portion of the users, often spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on whatever stupid shit is being sold. Those are whales.
The reason you don't see the phrase often used here is because outside of a few MMO's, Holla Forums doesn't play games that rely on whales for success. In fact, many people here will flat out refuse to play a game if it actually targets whales. Until the recent lootbox popularity, only mobile games and F2P MMO's targeted whales.

if Bloodborne's DLC was on a disk I would definitely have a physical copy.

League of Legends skins back in the day.
My fucking god the amount of money I blew on that shit. Kill me to end this cringe I feel.

Hello there, newfriend. Shouldn't you be somewhere else?

I do not approve of my art being used for such a shitty thread.

DELET THIS

I bought the KANGZ expansions for AoE II, I only spent around 20 dollars on them because of sales

There's the warframe thread.

Nice job with your reading disability there pal.

And the Granblue thread.
And the DBZ Dokkan thread.
And several TF2 threads, at least one of them unironic.
For how high the board likes his horse I don't see a single disapproving post in those.

I ran into the $30 daily transaction limit on second life after 1 day of playing

I'm a poorfag but when I've had money saved up I've spent it on all sorts of stupid shit. I recently got back into /fightan/ after my friend convinced me to play SF4 Ultra with him. I didn't know I was walking into a room with a tournament monster and just assumed I'd win because no local ever posed a challenge to me back when /fightan/ had the popularity of FPS games in the 90s. I got steam rolled, pissed off, and was gifted a beat up arcade stick to practice with. When SFV came around he convinced me to buy it because so we could play it online together. At little group formed and we started playing locals once a week. I would end up buying;
I didn't feel bad about buying KoF or BlazBlue:CF because they were good games that didn't constantly beg for money but SFV was such a fucking mistake. I figured it up one day and I have $130+ in a game no one even touches at locals now. Everyone hates it with good reason.

I didn't stop there. I bought a 4-slot Neo-Geo for way too much and drove 200+ miles for it for locals. No one plays on it even after I picked up an SD flash cart for as much as I paid for the cabinet itself. It sits unused unless I fire it up for a single player game. I would go on to spend $3,000-$4,000USD on various parts for arcade sticks. I dumped enough in my own just fucking around to build a decent gaming PC. I paid $12.50 a pop for limited edition buttons, $15 a pop for limited edition balltops, $10 a pop for limited edition dust washers. $400 just in PCBs. All the locals are poorfags so no one is ever going to pay for this shit. I always get guilt tripped into modifying or building a stick for them for free. Worst part is these faggots don't even show up on time. You tell them locals start at 6pm, they say they're in route, don't show up til 9-10pm then expect to stay for hours. They get mad when you enforce the rules and DQ them for holding up games because they won't stay off their cell phones. The friend that got me started on this shit won't even come anymore because we had a falling out and he chose 3DPD over hanging out with us. I can tell my little scene is going to die soon if I don't invest even more money in it. Everyone wants to have a tournament but no one wants to pay an entry fee. They just expect me to fund the pot by myself. I don't even want to think about how much I've spent on pizza for these people. All they are doing is coming to my place, stinking it up with weed, eating all my food, and hogging my games when I think about it.

I'll never forgive them for complaining that I didn't have third strike one night. I spent the entire week tracking down a copy and bought the CPS3 just for them. I consolized it and paired it with one of my best CRTs. Made sure everything was perfect. No one showed up and they haven't touched it at all.

I always thought it was great how the real world equivalent of the knives in that game cost a small fraction what the digital ones do

I guess now we know why you're a poorfag. Jesus Christ. Every time I think to myself I'm too tightfisted I get reminded there's worse things that I could be.

Wow that really sucks. I would have played the shit out of some neo geo with you.

I spent somewhere around $40 on waifufarm before fucking space babies, and I have bought some dlcs, though it's always been either when it goes on sale and I played the game enough to want it, or when it's bundled in a complete edition that is also on sale.

Save your money user. Pic related has enough in it to pay for a decent car or a trip to anywhere in the world.

I wish I believed you. All the locals said the same thing. It got a lot of play for one weekend and no one has touched it since. At least I can play Twinkle Star Sprites against the CPU.

Nah I would have. I have 3 different CRTs in my bedroom myself, against all reason.

I ended up rolling some characters that I loved all the way until quitting. Plus all the cash shop mounts and other nonsense is the gayest of shittery.

I used to be very overweight, more than a hundred pounds, but that was years and years ago, I lost the weight now I'm borderline scrawny-anorexic

What happened? Did you start dieting and exercising or what?

Not , but I also was a close to 300lb couch bison. Down to 160lbs now for the last few years.

It's literally just CICO. You don't even need to exercise. I mean, you're a retard if you don't and you'll end up looking like a skeleton in a deflated balloon - but just for weight loss, it's not necessary.

Fair enough, sounds like what's happening to me. Just moved to this new apartment in summer, was weighing like 280, down to 220 already.
it's almost like being a poorfag and fending for yourself makes you not eat utter garbage and sit around

Top laff, my friend. Top laff.

eeeeerhm i feel stupid for doing this but.
i spend 1000 dollars in a mobile app. It was called ayakashi ghost guild used it to het the rare SSS cards. i was in the top 50 rank but then the company went under. later i found out that it was made by zynga. they are some filthy money laundering bastards and i feel filthy just bringing these memories back to the surface.

Fell for the Overwatch lootbox meme, was only 15 dollars but it still was a waste.
I've spent about $200 on Warframe but that was a worthwhile expendature of shekels

...

I understand what I'm seeing on the second pic, what the fuck am I seeing in the first. A yoyo, buttons of SF characters, and wires? Are they pieces for a fightan cabinet or sticks?

Fuck I need some sleep, reading>>13664087 it makes more sense now.

Does it count if I buy the games I play?

I hate you all. Every night I will pray to any god that will listen to cast you into the deepest pit of hell to suffer forever for you irredeemable faggotry.

I've barely paid for videogames, let alone microtransactions. The closest I've come is spending an hour to get (((steam))) to work on linux so I could get the tux plushie item in tf2
also what said
