Impossible to 100% solo and abusing the roll glitch can only get you so far, add in White Knight Chronicles 2 where you can only get the "true-true" ending by playing the multiplayer, which is dead.

This game is like Tim Buckley's child.
Dead on arrival and a great loss.

Was the "demake" also vid related

Guns of Icarus Online is dead? Didn't they just release an expansion?

...

I still miss MNC so much. We will never get something like that again for a long time.

Blacklight
I love this game, been playing since 2012, its all mexicans and F2P little kids

Major shit taste in this thread I tell ya what.
also Chromehounds and Crysis Wars

...

You've got nowhere to talk about shit taste mate

Guns of Icarus died as soon as they stopped focusing on the multiplayer and added the coop mode along with the overworld map noone gave a shit about. Too bad too, the multiplayer was a blast, especially with friends.

It was never really alive but man I'd love to do a multiplayer game or two still. I know some people where running a multiplayer warband league but I don't they do anymore.

...

brrrrrrrrrt

God I still miss it. That game had some amazing atmosphere and it didn't feel like as much of a grindy slog as some other MMOs did; if anything the grind was quicker so you could focus on getting a ton of your superheroes up to high level so you'd have a ton of unique custom characters to play as.

God that's like the fourth time I forgot to remove that flag.

Soldat

there's a fan lobby for new and old C&C games

I honestly don't understand why City of Heroes got shut down. It's not like the thing was on a time limit, and it had a player base - stop updating it and just run the servers and you get free money indefinitely. Or sell it to a fan and get free cash and goodwill. There are MMOs from the 90s that are still running under one of those methods, for pete's sake.

those were the days
also washing machine simulator

its because shit costs money to run. bandwidth can be like 20k usd a month for some of those games. if they dont have enough subscribers to pay it, should they go bankrupt so your character doesnt die forever?

That's my whole point, even a small player base can support an MMO that's not currently in development. MMOs are something like 70% pure profit - the main reason the corporate support for them stops is to move devs into new projects that will (hopefully) make even more money than that. You don't need an active dev team just to keep servers running.

It wouldn't work for, like, Battleborn and its ten active players, but CoH had a lot of players, and it wasn't even free to play.

Remember when they sold a $60 ex-pack to CoH/CoV? Remember when it was 60 days later they shut the servers off? I remember that cash grab.

Fuck Perfect World and all the chinks/gooks for that matter.

Your wish is granted

Air brawl aka "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
Retard dev stops developing virtually unmarketed game and makes it free because there aren't enough players and players stop playing because no more updates and game has game-breaking bugs.
I believe landfall shutdown the servers for it, making it actually unplayable, except against cheating bots or in the repetitive "race" mode (No dedicated server tool or LAN support). It had such promise, there really aren't many games like it.
Now landfall moved on to more profitable ventures like shitty fucking meme games with no value.

well a limited f2p isn’t such a bad thing. Enough to jumpstart the community and get people to buy it.

It's not a limited f2p, they are giving the game away for free on humble bumble.

God damn it user the wound had almost healed and now you've gone and opened it right the fuck up again.

Yeah no they can go fuck themselves.

Nothing special but I had fun with it.

Because NCSoft is the EA of Korea

>you need to (((sign up)))
Fucking kikes

it wouldn't be dead if they actually gave it some singleplayer content

Am i but a pathetic worm wriggling under a dense blanket of nostalgia.

Revive network never ever

TFC. It is like TF2 but with fun grenades and no stupid fucking item equip bullshit or hats.

It was really fucking awesome back in its heyday.

My Fellow White European Brother.
Also pic related.

Please don't remind me.

Might have accelerated it actually, since it split the community.

Though it's not really dead for trading, if you want to play with other people you need to bring friends.

I was about to say that you can play 2 and 2142 via Revive just fine, but they're down at the moment.

Team arena still alive?

I still boot up the lobby level and play with bots every few years.
Ever try "The Opera" pre-dated The Specialists and was the first RP servers I ever fucked with.

what the fug.

...

As far as I know, only Random Arena is.

Hoo boy did I ever. Those were simpler times then.

...

...

The thing with The Opera was multiplayer was dead even during HL1's popularity. Fuck I even used to post on their forums I loved that shit so much. I would be down for firing up that game again someday..

Still never tried The Specialists for some dumb reason, though.

forgot second pic

You deserve everything you get.

The train level was really fun

Damn 2 was so damn comfy, loved the maps too. Shit I forgot I missed that.

user, I…

The pain is real

you are a man of refined tastes

Poor MNC. You deserved better.

I had to talk myself out of buying that a few times. I knew it was near death and still wanted it anyway. Ended up just watching others play it. Wish more Indie multiplayer games worked on AI bots for when their game usually dies a month or 2 after launch. That way you can at least still play something when everyone is gone.

Wait, didn't some guys fixed the multiplayer and made it playable again? If it's just the link to donwload, like said, then the game is still ok.

I enjoyed the fuck out of this during its limited lifespan. A PC port would be awesome.

I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you this

what the fuck

WOW

Playing as Marines was cool as shit

It'd be nice if they shot themselves with nailguns in the backs of their heads.

what kills me about it the most is that the remaining 2142 community was actually really good at teamwork and organization. I played it quite a bit earlier this year and it was the most fun I'd had in a Battlefield game in a very long time. EA fucking ruins everything.
Also here is their embarrassingly "how-do-you-do-fellow-kids" C&D letter that they sent Revive: dev.reviveheroes.com/notice.txt

>SHUT IT DOWN
EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME.
Why? Why do game companies shit all over fanbases who only showed love and loyalty?

It's not fucking misleading. Those "how do you do fellow kids" faggots are complete dipshits.

then should just release an xdelta patch instead. That would probably get them off EA's radar

gamespy getting killed was the final blow to this, i know that you can play on tunngle but still, this shit is really old and i want a new game that does this kind of gameplay really well

That whole fucking letter was absolute bullshit. I bet if they hadn't redacted the lawyer's name we'd find a raging SJW crybaby on Twitter.
Also, is it possible to make a mod that doesn't require redistributing the whole game? i.e. an in-place patch on an authenticated purchase to add P2P networking and server host/search instead of a full redistribution. I never played the Revive game so I don't know how it worked or was released.

The way Revive worked, you signed up for their forums to get an account, then downloaded the installer, which would install the entire game for you and it worked out of the box. If this C&D was just asking them to stop distribution of the games themselves, I could almost understand it, but the wording seems to imply that the whole project needs to be shuttered. I'm not sure if the Revive guys can or are interested in releasing a patch-only version that could be used to "fix" old non-Revive copies of the game, and I'm not sure if they would even be permitted to by EA.
I think EA/DICE is under the impression that the success of their older titles actually harms sales of their newer games like BF4 or SW Battlefront (and they're probably right, since 2142 is better than anything they've put out in the past decade). It's in their interest to kill projects like this and keep competition off the market.

The whole letter reminds me of that retarded EA employee that talked about how great it'd be if Nintendo outsourced Metroid to them since they loved it so much.

NoX by Westwood Studios. Technically it's not wholly dead. There's still a community and some servers kicking, but games are very unpopulated.

Website: noxcommunity.com/

It has a download for a multiplayer-only NoX. You could also just pirate the full version if you prefer.

Yeah, distributing the whole game would get lawyers down your throats. I remember when Blizzard killed an old-style WoW server for the same reason.
Honestly, if I had the time and actually felt like giving EA money (which I don't) I would try making some sort of P2P patch just to spite them.
Embed related.

Fuck me that would be a nightmare. Imagine Metroid: Andromeda.

you're giving me nightmares buddy

I am so fucking mad right now.

>chromehounds

I miss CoH. Wish there was a viable private server. Both CoH and CoV were my favorite mmo's and nothing has really compared since. Except Runescape, but it's just not the same.

Is there anyone worse than EA? Serious question. I feel like they absolutely take the cake in terms of piece of shit publishers. Who else is worse? Does anyone even come close?

Similar to tf2, the xbox version still alive, according to some commentaries from their videos.

I was looking for that one first, Youtube disabled the annotations feature a few months ago.
WAY TO GO JEWS

...

Was fun while it lasted.

Was the dev's fault. When the game launched everyone got a one-shot kill rocket launcher on spawn. So the combat was either snipers or rockets and then scrapping with other weapons if you missed. Instead of doing something smart like making snipers and rocket launchers pickups instead of spawn items they just reduced the damage of rocket launchers. tfw I made my friend by himself and me a copy and we only got two nights of gameplay out of it(Still feel guilty)

inb4 they shut it down because they're remaking 2142 and like Battlefieldfront, it'll have 1/4th of the content of the original.

God I fucking hope not

This is my favorite multiplayer game of all time.

And by "wish it werent dead" I mean "hope the developers choke on their own entrails"

Why? How'd they fuck everything up?

...

there is unofficial halo 2 servers on pc that are quite active, just look up project cartographer.

Atleast we have new masks now.

They did everything they possibly could have done to kill this game.

...

They're the worst when it comes to sheer influence and fucking up games and IPs that have enormous potential. On the basis of who pumps out the absolute worst games, Ubisoft has them beat and Activision-Blizzard edges out on top at being the biggest bunch of kikes.

humblebundle.com/store/guns-of-icarus-online that's your lucky day OP

I have some really fond memories about this game

I really regret I never played multiplayer when I had the chance. I saw few threads gathering people to play it but I just didn't feel like it at the time.

Other M

I wish Planetside 2 was still alive

I've had this game on my wishlist for years now. Is 100 people enough to qualify it as at least barely alive?

And what a fucking travesty that was. Remember the kickstarter? How they promised a huge open world RPG-ish with the Guns of Icarus gameplay, where you could airship across huge swathes of land, trade, do missions etc? Well… they managed to fuck it up.
They turned the whole thing into shitty PvE maps the size of the PvP ones connected by a Total War-like overworld with no actual gameplay other than PvE. A grave dissapointment.

This game was amazing in multiplayer on Ps2 back then. They had this infection mode which was basically zombie panic but with infected mutants instead of zombies (the gunplay was a lot more satisfying than zombie panic tho).

Holy fuck. I've been playing all this week, I had plans to play tomorrow with friends. Fuck EA in the ass, they deserve a slow death. I guess I can only pray the Revive fellows find a way to make it work.

If you can fill at least 10 lobbies with the number of active players, it's not dead

The game is just good, for the price they are asking that is not acceptable. For example, with all that money you could get AS1&2, ZS1&2, survival crisis z(it's free though), Crimsonland old&new, nation red normal&online, shadowgrounds 1&2 and deadhunt while still having some dosh left. You could also probably break it even if you were aiming for the dlcless version instead, which is like a f2p version but for, how much does it cost for you? 30$?

...

F

It still hurts

God damn I loved this game. The servers are shut down and they turned the sequel into some shitty browser game.

Pardon?
I already own Crimsonland, Nation Red and all Shadowground games, as well as Alien Breed series, Red Solstice and Solstice Chronicles: MIA.
The base game is on sale for $10 and with all the DLC it's $15.

Muh dick. There are sometimes people on them if you are lucky. And, the great thing about Source/GoldSrc mods is all you need to do is ask half a dozen people to play and they are so easy to install people will for an afternoon or two.

HSL should fucking burn for how they handled BLR

What the fucking shit, I thought EA even linked to them at one point? God fucking damn it. I installed Revive a couple months ago and was having lots of fun.

I wish Planetside 2 had lived up to its potential in the first place

Although the premise doesn't sound that interesting, the game is actually fun as hell. /radcorp/ did a game night of it a few months back iirc

They can and they did from the start. In fact it pissed me off when it seemed like they were going through motions for a while there of replacing their simple executable hack with a giant fucking download to install the whole game, but that never ended up being the only way to make it work. I don't see how this C&D is any sort of game ender.

And just remember for every citizen subject to US copyright law, there are 3 or 4 Russians and Brazilians who don't give a fuck. Life will find a way.

Alien shooter, zombie shooter. Also, neon chrome, nuclear throne, death road to canada and other indie games.
I wouldn't recommend it, because what you get is a whole lot of randomly generated maps that are extremely barebones and flat in terms of visual design, that have random generated objectives, that have pretty much no lasting effect and the main objective is actually not to slay hordes of enemies, but to run away from them. After going through most interesting combinations(which would take around 8-16 hours) the game starts to drop the ball hard, since endgame strats are: fail the objectives that you can fail as fast as possible, others - complete even faster and then stay still behind a cover until evac comes. And since the best course of action is avoiding enemies, the most productive way to do so is to play solo.
Oh yeah, shared screen is a fucking cancer.

There was a very good reason Starsiege lasted until their master server had its plug pulled in 2007.

I want Half Life 3 to have multiplayer.

128v128 is pretty impressive, no matter what you may say.

Such a masterpiece that no one ever knows.

when will be get a remaster bros
