Anons, we've been tasked with repairing various AAA games - Overwatch being the first one on the list. According to this report, the main complaint is that the game is too MOBA-like, too reliant on teamwork despite shitty matchmaking, and has a few characters that require no skill at all yet have a significant impact. Furthermore, it's filled with autists that won't play tank or support roles, as they're too focused on chasing frags instead of playing the objective.

Shitty behavior and poor play, you can't ban people for being bad. As far as actually fixing the game, I can't say. I guess try and remove all the assfaggots elements and put a bit more emphasis on the ability to aim and use weapons effectively. Positioning and teamwork can still play a role in a shooter without catering to people who's only concept of teamwork is "we all press Q at the same time".

What elements would you remove, and what elements would you let remain? There's a bit of a blur between them, as most of the mechanics have been adapted to work with the first person shooter format.

The noob presses Q whenever he can, blowing ults with no coordination and gaining nothing.
The experienced player presses Q all at the same time, winning the fight but losing the game.
The expert knows to only use exactly as much Q as needed, saving enough to win next fight.

I honestly believe that you would have to redesign the entire game mechanically to fix it. Blizzard designs their games with accessibility and moment to moment fun as their top priority. So, they end up trying to balance for the most casual and most hardcore audience at the same time and make it leaves them both unhappy.

The problem is it seems like half the game is there to cater to keeping low skill players invested. Ultimates that give you huge impact with little to no skill input, gold being the average "competitive" rank, no heroes with complicated or unique mechanics for the sake of intuitiveness. By the time you fix everything it's a completely different game that looks like Overwatch.

Blizzard can't do it though they've had the same problems over nerfing and over nerfing musical chairs for decades in their games.

TL;DR: Overwatch can't be fixed. Might as well make a new game with a new developer.

Overwatch is pretty much the evolution of Team Based cartoony shooters like TF2 and the like. Definately a more polished and fun version since Valve utterly destroyed the game. and was never good how do you even defend random crits in a multiplayer competitive game

They could have a better game though if they changed the heroes to classes instead and an alternative to the overpowered hero ultimates. Also the moba thing is retarded, only topdown rts shit can be a moba, overwatch has none of the shit that makes a moba except they both have heroes.

He used to damage himself, they "buffed" him since everyone was crying he was too underpowered, but he was pretty balanced and now absolutely op in the right maps, I've been playing the faggot since the beginning and never felt underpowered as long as you didn't fight some faggot with as hitscan

By MOBA most people mean the fact that abilities and their interactions (i.e. pre-game knowledge) often matters more than your mechanical skill in the moment.

It's come to mean a different thing - it outlined an entire genre of pseudo-RTS, so the term now means DOTA-like games.

I have no idea how they get away with it. I honestly can't tell if it's a "if it ain't broke" mentality or they just actually haven't learned.

Or maybe it's just that the average "gamer" just wants a really aesthetically polished experience and really doesn't care if it's a good game or not as long as they can play with their friends. In that sense nothing needs fixed it's making loads of money and has tons of players who apparently don't care about the bad design.

Capcom has been trying to pull a Blizzard and make fighting games that are meant to appeal more to newcomers and still please the hardcore audience. It also made both audiences unhappy. Except with Capcom it's not succeeding at all. Sometimes I wonder if Blizzard is so popular purely because their a pop culture icon. They certainly haven't made a great game in a decade or two.

I compare the 2 because duke nukem is a better 3d shooter you can even have teams. the game is a 3D game emphasis on the 3D. while overwatch is a bland 2d shooter with the most basic of mechanics. its not its only really 2.5d in the barest sense for any kind of way they planned out how the maps are. call of duty has better maps. Overwatch is lowest common denominator trash with nothing going for it other then pew pew pew shiny.

The fact that there's literally no game in the subgenre that's even remotely near the same level helps. Imagine if Capcom owned the entire 2d fighter genre. Then they could do a lot worse and have no trouble at all keeping players.

I agree that the changes they made only motivates people to play him in a braindead manner, even more so than before. At least before that, you could die to your own ult so you had to position yourself carefully before dropping the tire on the other team.

But the worst rebalancing problem in my opinion is that they have gone out of their way to make Mercy THE support option, at the cost of making the rest of the supports less viable to play if you want to ciment your chances of victory.
Jeff surely is biased towards the only white woman in the game. How problematic is that?

HEROES HEROES HEROES
This fucked over everything, not only by making every map a claustrophobic, linear fuckfest to encourage players to get so close to each other that they can feel the HEROIC PERSONALITIES, but it also led to them totally neglecting to polish up universal mechanics such as hitboxes and map control.

Mercy killing everyone isn't the problem. She lost the extra rate of fire and damage she got during the PTR, so it's still just the same old pea shooter. Unless you are shooting it for more than 4 seconds solid you won't even see any difference between ult/none ult (normally takes 4 seconds to empty and 1 to reload).

Honestly Mercy's new ult isn't that good. It's alright, she can fly away behind high cover and heal the whole team from relative safety, but she can't really DO anything amazing with it. It's not like Transcendence where no one dies or any DPS ult where everyone dies, she isn't even that hard to kill with deadeye/tac visor/widowmaker.

Where the new Mercy shines is the res every 30 seconds. Matchmaking games are horribly disorganized. Rather than coordinate together people would rather poke the enemy team and wait for someone to make a mistake. Mercy erases small mistakes, so it makes that style of play impossible. She also just flat out heals more than anyone else.

She's pretty much made it so you have to counter a mercy play with a mercy play heals to heals. so either you lock in a slot as her, if the enemy pick her or have an incredibly tough time even keeping up unless you have two healers to compensate. Although I dont know whats worse, one res every 30s or a mass res of anyone in range every few minutes

The tempo resses are worse. You can control the mass res or counter it. Kill Mercy first or save an ult to re-wipe anything she resses. There's nothing you can do about her ressing the first person to die every fight, it's way too hard to kill Mercy first all the time. Not that it should be easier, she deserves to have a chance to live if she plays well.

How about the tempo rez only gives 50% health back to the resurrected person?

The game got fucked since the beginning. What do you think?

It's just a decision by a bunch of marketing suits. AAA gamedev is multisegmented, you can't really fault the central dev team for the marketing decisions.
