Steam also has a means to eliminate abuse and it's the "two-hour play time" and "two-weeks since purchase" policy. If they want to expand their definition of abuse then they need to tighten these guidelines and make it one hour/one week instead of making arbitrary decisions on a per-case basis.

Ammo (I assume) is sold perhaps twice a week at our store, based on how often they page for an unlock. My understanding of the process is to take their contact info, note it down, and give them the ammo to take to the front. I don't have to escort them or do that sort of thing, to my knowledge.

I am completely fine with rejecting returns so long as there is an unambiguous policy that doesn't allow the retailer to reject refunds arbitrarily on a per-case basis. If Steam would discontinue their refund policy or adhere strictly to their two-hour/two-weeks policy then I would have no complaints. However, they don't do that, instead reserving the right to claim refund abuse at their discretion which I do not believe is right.

In the UK you could just call your credit card company. Say you were mis sold the game because its not what was advertised and so you uninstalled it. They will reverse the payment.

I still have a bias with regards to high latency playable games and low latency only games. With regards to DMC3, the PS2 emulator lag was enough to be a major factor in deciding between it and the PC port; I'd probably dislike the 50 or so added ms from connecting to a nearest data center.

Even outside of DMC, I think first person shooters ultimately had that situation where (near-) hitscan won the popularity contest over traveling projectiles (i.e you'd have to shoot with both the latency and travel time in mind). Even then the most popular / most often mentioned afps is Quake 3, and 2 of the 3 (or 4) mainly used weapons to deal damage with are hitscan.

But because its hitscan attack is weak, nobody uses it. Instead, everyone uses absurdly powerful projectile attack that could almost match the mini-nuke missile in its destruction capacity.

It wasn't the projectile that did that much damage, it was the combo. Of which you need the hitscan. The projectile's bigger benefit was faster firing than the hitscan from what I remember.

In fact, the weapon wouldn't have been different if the beam did no damage whatsoever and only served to ignite the projectile - as the shock turret on UT2004 assault vehicle does. And of course because of its power, it is the single most used weapon in the game, except for long range engagements where sniper rifle would dominate. Nobody uses all those other gimmick guns except when no shock rifle is available.
