This is the most objective 'worst game in a series' i have ever played
So Holla Forums has been talking about Halo a lot lately what with 3's tenth anniversary coming up. I decided to borrow my brothers Xbone since he hasnt touched in like 2 years and played through the entire series again.
5 was the only new one to me. 4 was 'okay' but not great. A solid 4/10 you can play once on its hardest setting and maybe find enjoyment around the really lazy new enemies and never touch it again. An inoffensive 'gaiden' game unconected for the most part to the big flood containment story.
Then i played Halo 5 blind. I heard it didn't have a good rep due to microtransactions in pvp but jesus fuck is this a bad game. Objectively bad.
Story is paper thin. You go to a planet to find a giant robot. Cortana is revealed to be alive and you follow the robots to her and shes evil now than it ends. They stretch this out so thin across 14 levels its ridiculous. One example: you need to reach a giant robot at a city in the ocean. You FLY on a plane to one end of the city and fight for 45-60 minutes through copy pasted platforms of covenant only to get to the end to take a plane to FLY to the robot.
The experience was shockingly bad. I can enjoy some dumb shit but this is mechanically trash. The first 2 and a half levels are fine but you can feel the point where it hit dev hell mid level 3 and every level after that is worse than the last.
I know even the die hards considered 343 written off at this point but MS is shitting a 6th out next year as part of their 'last gasp strategy' to try and save the xbone in 2018. But how the fuck do you come back from this? Its like the Phantom Menace of videogames.
