There are people on Holla Forums RIGHT NOW who haven't read Althusser's Ideology and Ideological State Apparatuses

Get familiar: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideology_and_Ideological_State_Apparatuses (Wikipedia intro is surprisingly well-formatted and a concise rundown)

Get brunt: marxists.org/reference/archive/althusser/1970/ideology.htm

what you gonna do about it, choke me?

but it's so long and reading is boring

We could read Althusser or we could make jokes about how he strangled his wife…

Yes.

Just read the Wiki article then at least. Far from as long and gives you the gist of it.

There's not enough Althusser memes either way, so reading him and making structuralism/critique of ideology memes would be very welcome.

...

This is really all the Althusserian/structuralist maymays I have. Really troubling, and I hope you comrades can help me do something about it.

I'm reading his "Marx in his Limits" right now. TL;DR: Marx fucked up Capital.

That Althusser thought this is already quite apparent in his "Reading Capital". I think it's in large part because of all the new challenges to Marx's orthodox (of his time) materialist out look that Althusser's structuralist materialism brings to challenge.

Gramsci's theory of Hegemony and Althusser's work on State Apparatuses & Ideology are invaluable concepts for anyone. They legitimately help to make the world make substantially more sense. If you aren't an illiterate memer, I sincerely urge you to read up on these concepts.

Where to start with this?

fucking structuralists…Do you even Derrida?

Never go full post-structuralism, son. Only a whole lot of nothing and posturing can come from that stuff.

I heard on Holla Forums he made shit up for academia while there was this one Marxist who debunked him hutnno one listened.

only after he died it was clear he was bullshitting

nah, fam….he cool, just French

Someone better find out who/what you were talking about then.

Is wife killing acceptable under communism?

Why not? The brocialist-communist future promises us that if a bitch be talking shit that bitch be needing a cap on her ass.

How is Derrida related to any of this?

Looks like bashing PoMo's without ever reading a word of what they wrote is the new cool thing to do.

If you're interested in Althusser's account of the tragic incident: vkdoc.tk/?q=the future lasts forever&ext=pdf|djvu|-doc

Gramsci is utter cancer to read. Might be easier to just read a secondary source describing his ideas. I cut these pages from a pdf I happen to have lying around which briefly speaks about Gramsci and some additional concepts building upon hegemony. Probably a more detailed explanation out there if you look harder, but reading this should hopefully clue you in to the basic ideas if you weren't aware of them.

Looks good, thanks, but this is an excerpt. What's this originally from?

Marxism and Literature by Raymond Williams, which is too large a file for me to upload.

...

Only read his The Modern Prince (à la Machiavelli) and found it really mundane.

There's a smaller 6MB version available on libgen too: gen.lib.rus.ec/book/index.php?md5=3C1BDC456F445639C31A393323640BF1

Link to the root libgen search engine; that mirror is blocked in certain places but not the search.

Hit refresh. Are you britbong? Some ISPs block libgen. Try a proxy.

The cancerous part is finding a relevant bit of text on whichever subject you're interested in within the disorganized mess of his ten years of prison notes.

Oh yes, the book was just that, with bits of interests on the every-day questions of communist organization. Was a very unsatisfying read.

Gtfo and read some hegel

What do you mean by "post-modernist" and "relativist?"

Bumping.
