I'm trying to remember one I played that was a sidescrolling MMO for kids. "The _"
I think one of the characters was a robot or a broom with wheels?
I won a gravis gamepad from the sweepstakes.

Only thing I can add to this are perhaps Auto Assault and The Universal. Oh, and one chink mmo that had customizable karts once you got to a certain level, which i can't remember the name of.

Sounds like Gunbound or a clone of.

Seems like a normal online racing came to me. What makes it an MMO? I'm asking because on youtube and other sites some people call normal multiplayer games as MMOs for whatever reason.

Was just looking for signs of life today.

I remember a thread being made about this like 2 years ago or something. Looked really neat.

this looks liek a game wher I could have comfy adventures with a tight knit community.
why is that so hard to find?

I fucking grew up on this shit, does ANYBODY remember this game

Rip in pieces

Graal online 10+ years ago.

WEW LADDIE. SO MANY HOURS.
Was that even really an MMO or was it just an overhyped chat client.

i guess both?
was a weird fucking game it's a damn shame it's downgraded to facebook faggotry

Anybody play this thing?

That's all I want from mmos.

Nice try you fucking hacks but you've already failed

GhostX
i heard the companymaking it in Korea died and they eventually closed it down here cause there were no more updates.
Also Scarlet Blade

Theres private servers? Any recommendations?

...

There's a Chinese server, but it's based on the crappy old English ones from what I've heard.
Someone's working on a better server but it's not finished yet.

Barely anyone from NA knew this game existed except of Japs but I still wanted to try it out despite it being a worse tales of eternia mmo

Not quite forgotten by time just yet but as a huge tolkien lorefag I really liked Lotro before it was sold to WB who proceeded to rape its identity and uniqueness until it is nothing but an empty shell.
It would have been better if the game just died and they had some endgame event before servers shut down where sauron gets the ring and destroys middle earth or something

That looks exactly like Sonic All-stars Racing: Transformed, in the sense it has teleporters, flipping mechanics and drift etc…

I've been playing it on my phone a ton lately.

People don't agree with me but this honestly was one of the best MMO experiences I had, back when it was in beta.

Found a party that all played together, people had actual roles and puzzles required team work. Clearing dungeons meant communicating with each other.

It was amazing.

Yes

My contribution

I miss it to friend. We can only hope one day for either a private server or someone else to get the rights. The game still seems to have a following of people who want it back.

Only other time I was this sad over the death of a game was SMT:IMAGINE

toon town nigger, although i t wasn't a side scroller but the battle system might have made you think that?

The tower on the right in the screenshot looked like the laughing banana
I share this only so others will also see that from now on.

All my hopes were shattered. Going to find a private server right now to finally experience it.

I don't think it could've been successful even if the entire population of the world considered playing it.

this was great in like 2006 but just kept getting worse and worse as braindead devs failed to understand what made the game good to begin with.

...

Hopefully all of them. What a shitty genre of games.

Man, that game was comfy as fuck. I miss it. It was my go-to MMO for when I didn't want to play anything else, or I just wanted some nifty dungeon crawling with friends.

I fully agree.

I played NexusTK from 1999 to 2006

TSwolf is a faggot and I hope he commited suicide

Oh my fucking god I have been looking for the name of this game for years, I played it a small bit when I was a child but then I forgot about it. Then whenever I would remember about it throughout the years I would always google trying to find it with no success. Then as I was scrolling past this thread and seen the logo and after focusing on it for a while it started to seem familiar so I decided to google it.

Wish there was an emulator of that.
But it was SOE and SOE can't into keeping a good thing going.

I could've sworn that there was a Xialion Showdown MMO or at least a game on PC, but I can't find a damn thing about it. Am I crazy here, Holla Forums? Could it have been from the Berenstein universe or a cereal box game from when they still made those?

I remember this in Jr. High. Fucking Statics and Furries, man.

Wish there was an emulator of that.
But it was SOE and SOE can't into keeping a good thing going.

The engine was a re-worked version of Stunt Track Driver 1 and 2, hell, they even re-used it for that one pc plug and play and Racing Circuit, which was like a successor of the original Planet Hot Wheels, but it got the same treatment and it vanished without trace after some time
I guess Mattel doesn't know something good when they have it, even if they had it for a fuck-ton of time

I remember seeing this as a kid but never got it, played it offline around 2015 though. Shame it died so early, but I doubt it would have lasted forever.

Fuck I miss TDZK. Was never a huge game but it had a competitive community with lots of great cliques in it.

No the game was like from 1996-ish. Before 3D acceleration. I was also playing the realm online at the time.

Before 3D MMOs I mean. I think you could get a voodoo back then and shitty matrox cards

Gunbound
Not really an MMO, but it was one of the first lobby-based/make a room and play with level ups and in-game currency to grind for gear that gave stats.

Tales of Eternia online

Hey, me too! I remember when TSWolf got banned for account sharing & was back the next day with a bunch of free shit as 'TSWulf'.
Also played Active Worlds in the early days of the Internet. It was a building/chat game.

Never heard of it but it sounds like something I want to play.
Why?

I remember playing a game similar to this a few years back, was on some website called ITCH that seems to no longer exist.

Good shit

...

one of the early builds for the new Imagine server is coming out in October I think. Still going to be missing alot of stuff but fuck its a start. The chinese server is just too outdated and far too laggy plus the faggot running it only seems interested in keeping it barely running to jew people with the cash shop and custom demons.

Legend of Mir was super popular in gook countries and got a cult following in the west, that shit was great, used to play it with my brother all the time back in the day.
It was always fun seeing chickens spam lightning bolts and poisons in that place.

exteel

Fuck ncsoft

Why am I just hearing about this game? I want it so bad.

Censorship killed this game.

It was fun. I had good times there.

AND THE NIGGER IS THE ORC!

Fantasy Earth Zero.

Monato Esprit. The game was pretty fucking jank and I remember the server only ever having like 20 people in it at a time, when I played anyway. Never heard anyone talk about it, I figure it died quietly.

I also remember some F2P top down action game I played back in the day. You ran around a map and collected powerups, it was also decently challenging. Anons mentioned it in a thread before but I forgot the name of it, it shut down a good while ago as well.

Forgot pic.

Asheron's Call has a couple server emulators up. Fun times.

Its still being played in nipland but your right when it comes to the NA playerbase

I loved that game. I'm still friends with some of the people I met in it when it was new, and I met my late wife in it. Our dads were in the same monarchy on Solclaim.

Also seal online.
It had some interesting classes like the engineer i think, uses two handed hammers and is the crafter class in general.

baldrics

Know what the worst thing is? You can't even find private servers.

Nobody will miss you.

...

Trickster Online
I remember the first open(?) beta being ridiculously popular among sleepywood.net users looking for something new, then all discussion about it just disappeared off the face of the planet after a month.

Gunz was like a korean f2p version of the specialists half life mod, which is also very good. kinda ruined by a glitch the devs kept in but if nobody used it it was fantastic

...

I was trying to remember what that was called for the longest time.

I think the Dungeon Meshi system would be perfect for an MMO.
>top level players can resurrect others on site with blood magic, given sacrifice proportional to time since deatah

this game was fantastic.

did you hear gunz 2 had all its servers shut down, save for US west?

Cabal

...

holy shit i fucking love well of souls

...

I'm embarrassed to say that I was a MMO connoisseur for a while in my teens.

MMORPGs were always shit. Don't start with the "old days" bullshit

that game was far too crazy for it's own good…

Anyone remember some korean/chinese/japanese MMO that took place inside a delinquent school? Or one that was a 3d shooter where you controlled a futuristic jet?

I played it briefly before the shutdown. I should have shilled for it some but I figured no one on Holla Forums would like it because autism "too arcadey".

Neverdaunt 8bit was ugly as fuck, but also the most sandbox mmo I've played, almost everything was built by the players similar to Second Life. The map was divided into cells in a similar manner, too, but players could claim cells from other players by bombing the defenses and attacking the cell's shrine. Each cell had two modes that would switch over time, build and static mode: build mode allowed the owner and his friends to build, in static mode building wasn't possible and players could bomb it and attack the shrine to capture it. Players could force static mode to farm coins which could be used to buy bombs and powerups. The game even had its own simple visual programming system like Wiremod to allow players to make stuff like password doors or other things. I made a text adventure in it, which lead to another guy making Pacman.

There were various powerups such as full charge jump, super speed, and some others I can't remember since it's been so long. There was a zombie powerup made eventually that could infect other players and a vendor for that was put in a dungeon I made for the game. There were also one of a kind weapons with special abilities that would drop if the holder was killed or logged out for a period of time, and the community would often fight over and hide them. Later, teams were introduced which created a turf war system with the cells.

The community, though, from what I remember were mostly autists and big brained fedora fags. There was even a guy named Fedora. I was embarrassingly one of those guys back then, too.

One day the servers were taken down to "upgrade the game" and they never came back up. The website still claims that.

Fucking found it.

...

RAN online is the other you were thinking of

Oh yeah, that's the one. Thanks.

...

...

Needs a barrel roll.

That looks like cancer.

Why even bother typing the words, man?

Square's best MMO, shame they have to jerk over XIV instead. Especially when FEZ still has an active Hong Kong server after all this time.

Think of it like the PS4/Vita Grand Kingdom game, but in 3D and as an MMO.

They're not shit because they're multiplayer on a massive scale, they're shit because they're RPGs. Dungeons and Dragons and other PnP RPGs were for fucking faggots of the highest order. Is it any wonder the games they make are shit?

Same reason why we have to breathe. We do so cause we must

Not sure if this counts because you couldn't interact with anyone, but Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends had an online game for a few years. (ignore the watermark, I couldn't find another commercial on Youtube)

I miss it so much ;-;

Wizardry online actually had a body collection system where if someone dies in the dungeon another player can pick up that persons body and take them to a resurrection temple to safely revive.

wizardryonline.wikia.com/wiki/Death
Scroll down to the Body Collecting section.

Damn, this is almost the same exact thing I had in mind. Neat.

Fuck yeah Survival Project. This was awesome.

The creators of it made new game you know.

Although it turn into 3d brawling..

I sure loved being forced into using the autistic jump+katana+shotgun+katana AIDS loop the moment (((someone))) entered the match in a shooting game with several weapon types.

They actually made another one.

RAN Online.

Fuck private servers when.
youtube.com/watch?v=8MmBvaGD-IU

Shotgun + katana was for scrubs. Revolvers were infinitely more accurate and skillful.
