Where it's a relaxing and fun slice of life with charming characters balancing out Yuuji's "muh war trauma" moments. How old is this guy supposed to be anyway? This is coming from someone who had their project picked up by them and it never got released. This was before I knew anything about them too, so I'll chalk it up to experience.

I'm surprised that you didn't copy it last time I had my rant here. Basically I got picked up as a translator from fuwa a years back, worked with a fan group for awhile, sekai offered our group money to publish our translation. Since I wasn't the boss, I just took the money thinking "great we're gonna get published" but what wound up happening was that they just held on to the work we did - basically what they do is they pick on small fan translation groups, make them sign an NDA, throw them X amount of dollars per role, and hold on to the IP. It sucks because essentially what they do is hunt out works in progress, get the rights from JP company, and then buy you out, essential eliminating any and all competition and what they rely on is naive fan translators with good intentions, who really want to get the game out there for people to play, and they just snip the bud before it even gets to blossom. It why I quit doing translations, besides my own for fun, it really gave me a sour taste as a way to make some money in this field. Fortunately I know some people in the VN industry in Japan, having worked part time as a translator for a hentai company when I lived over there, so if I wanted to actually try and gets rights to a translation I could. I wish there were actually people that were more serious about translating games and getting them out there, I mean there is a huge market for it, and it would be really nice to share a lot of really good stories/games that are out there that only people that understand Japanese could play.

I disagree on this one here. Fan translation was always going to be better than any attempt to monetize it since fan translators did it out of passion, thus obscure works got translated more often and with higher quality. The "market" for people to actually pay for these is slim: The Sakura games and other Steam shit was flavor of the month for a while but it really dropped off once people realize how low quality it was. Sekai is mostly sustained on kikestarter cash, and I'd love to see their financials because last I recall they weren't doing too hot.
I think getting VNs out there is good but Sekai did it at the expense of the community and basically destroyed what took ages to build up. They're the worst kikes imaginable.

What's their view on English translation? Do they see it as a serious source of revenue or just an after-the-fact pleasure project?
And why don't you use your god-given powers to warn people about Sekai and cut off the source of the kikes power?

Ara Cake should have been a merc from a rival company that helped the protag rescue Nemu right then and there instead of the long and mostly pointless epilogue just to get TardNemu. I'll be honest I don't know anything about the game since apart from gameplay I've heard there's little choice in things and how they play out like a kinetic VN. That said, all I know is the protag has amnesia in the first of the two games: Mask of Deception.

I would recommend leaving it on regardless of whether you like that content or not; you don't have to fap to it if you don't want to.

You should still read Stay Night first, or you won't get the full picture of each character. Hollow Ataraxia is first and foremost fanservice for people that liked Stay Night there's also an actual plot but it's secondary and much shorter than the rest of the VN. You won't be able to really appreciate characters like Rider without knowing Heaven's Feel.

Then, as you "groom" them with repeated sexual advances they all grow to like it and it really feels more like vanilla with Master-Slave kink overtones at that point. The route I liked the most even had it end with the protag having married his "slave" and was having sex with her while she was pregnant with their second child and unlike in the heinous cuckoldry of Taimanin, there was no mention of an abortion. So in a sense it starts out with rape but ends with vanilla - classic hentai-logic.

Last thread there was discussion about Uchikoshi's early days writing VNs. Since then I've had a chance to complete Never7 - the end of infinity. As far as I know it is his earliest VN, having been originally released in 2000. It isn't all that great. The character routes are 98% personal drama with stock character types. Later VNs he wrote have scientific and mystery story curiosities throughout the story to keep your interest. All the personal drama feels like filler on the way to the Shyamalan plot twist. A plot twist which is very poorly built up and lacks any narrative impact. The "twist" if you can even call it that is Schrodinger's Cat is a superpower that the MC can unknowingly use to rewrite reality. That spoiler makes the premise sound way cooler than it actually is. The plot is presented in the most lackadaisical manner possible when it should have been balls-to-the-wall crazy. Overall it's not the worst VN ever, just boring and forgettable. If you want M. Night Shyamalan plot twist wackiness, go straight to Ever17, Remember 11, or 999.

At that point, you may as well not even include sexual relationships. I think it would only hinder the game's possibilities. Not to mention that it is quite unrealistic, as a website like that would be subverted by every alphabet soup agency in the book.

There aren't many long technical explanations beyond relating what the Schrodinger's Cat thought experiment is. In the dialogue they made it clear that wishing for the cat to die or not neither works nor is the point of the experiment, but then turn right around and apply that to the main character. After learning about it he is then able to wish away all the other characters' problems because believing in his own ability makes it real. It's a lame ending. There are a lot of thriller and drama stories out there that take this concept and actually DO something with it. If Never7 began at the ending point and went from there with a story about the MC changing events and being forced to deal with the consequences, it would have made for a more compelling VN.

This was really fucking good, its been along time since I cried so hard for anything. The music and direction of it was so well done. I wish I would see it posted about here more; I never have. The epilogue felt like it had a small problem as instead of Taiichi telling the story of his friend's suicide completely, it stating that he told it again. Still good enough to feel the pang of sadness from it. 黒須ちゃん†寝る was a very good pun on the final part and I laughed quite hard.

I can vouch for their translations being D grade work at best. Sekai Project localized Neko Para, and they made the huge mistake of allowing the player to see both the original text and the translation in the same dialogue box. 90% of the translation is just a bit off from what was said or ignores the character's speech pattern, and the 10% they got right in terms of meaning, they fuck up by making it sound unnatural in English.
