Are there any good space related games that let me interact with cute xeno scum?

The new Masters of Orion… but it's a pretty shit game all around.

Do you consider "cute" and "retarded" to be synonyms?

Also

Still, there aren't many vidya based on low budget tv shows that have ever done too well from a quality perspective.

Whoops, forgot the link
unseen64.net/2012/01/08/stargate-sg-1-the-alliance-game-cancelled/

are they not?

do you have more?

So do you think Bethesda's new space game actually have any space flight mechanics (even if it's just an awkward spaceship hat and no clip) or will it be a destiny/mass effect conversion of skyrim?

Please think of all your crew members that have allergies user.

I'd fuck that cat.

Bethesda's making a new space game? Well shit, a couple years ago I would have thought that was cool but now even mods can't fix their games thanks to Todd "the average consumer" Howard.

...

Wast there some Sega 4x with a thicc ayy in it?

No Todd's Sky?

...

Sounds like a fun game to me fellow v goer!

How could you just make a new thread and leave the rest of us in the old thread too sink user, That isn't something a good commander would do

Silly user, you thought you'd get rid of us by making a new thread without telling us.
BUT YOU WILL NEVER GET RID OF SKELETONS!

...

These actually pushed me to watch the movie.
Also

I like that movie but you can definitely see the beginnings of liberal Disney taking hold.

Hows Battlestar Galactica Deeadlock?

user, when Walt DIED the company was taken over by kikes and has done nothing but create propaganda and softcore porn ever since.

oh i didnt realize team fortress 3 was in development

Thats an Overcuck comic though

I feel like a SETI scientist.

Then just use that time and colonize like a motherfucker, so once you do meet some they got more than they can chew against them.

More pics of the Logh mod.

whats the best space exploration game out there atm that piratable?

Space engine

Silly user, he asked for a game not a screenshot generator.

Define space exploration.

gaem?

xenos shouldn't be cute

Looks like steallris fam

Makes sense. It's one of the few spess games I haven't played.

Star Control 2

are you perhaps thinking of Starflight?

similar to shekel citizen and elite dangerous
like first person fly your ship and explore space games

NuMale's Sky?
FTL?
Endless Sky?
I-war?

user, we must buy a copy for all of our friends.

So, zero.

X3 obviously

yeah no, that game is shit. they never bothered to fix stupid ass collisions and instakills are way too common.

yeah no time to kill yourself brah

...

What is that image from? I am.intrigued amd image search turned up nothing.

drone looks like star wars
bit in the back looks like a capture point
grafix look like an RTS

Alliance mod for Empire at War FoC, makes the probe droids a ground unit that still retains the old functionality from the base game.
Also adds a fuckton of other units, so many that galactic conquest has these buttons added to it to filter specific unit types in the map.

He's probably thinking of Endless Space 2. Never heard of Starflight though, looks neat. Might have to fire up the emulator and give it a go.

Some more pics from my last few days of stellaris playing.
Things cooled down significantly when this one fallen empire awakened and i swore allegiance to it.
Prior to that me and my allies were at war like every other week.
And now im allied to galactic peace keepers who went on to declare several wars and invaded lands for me to rule.
Really like these peace keepers!

Now im just abiding my time, researching tech, building up my fleet and planning on turning my people fully synthetic and going full Necron on this galaxy.

Also i have built some stuff like few ring worlds, science nexus, a sensors platform and a dyson sphere.

...

...

...

...

You using any mods?

I shouldn't have set my starting population to 8 billion for realism.

heh
Time to get more colonies.
Are you using missiles? If so how are you creating them at the go or following some guide?

I'm semi-following that guide an user from here put up last thread.

Games emulate real life.

Yeah, one of them is the logh ship mod which adds alliance and imperial vessels, but you gotta select them for the individual race that uses them.
Also some sorta titans mod that adds buildable titans and three other giant ship types.

Shit, didnt see that, the reason I stopped playing was being unable to make missiles good enough to engage in war.

The logh versions of those titan ships are just oversized versions of certain flagships.
So far i have discovered that regular titan is the Fahrenheit flagship and the Leviathan class ship is Königs tiger, only bigger.

Do you know if the warhammer 40k mod has progressed?

Checking, also checking what that titan mod is called.

Ok, the titan one is called ISBS and on top of that and Logh one i loaded a compatibility patch.
As for 40K mods, im just gonna copy paste what it says on first 40K mod i found.

Description
"We are the imperial navy" NSC stand-alone version
do not use this mod with the original version, they are incompatible

About the difference between original WAIN and NSC stand-alone verison
people might be curious about why NSC version only has one section
it's because fit a existing ship into NSC is like making 3 brand-new ships for vanilla and people are out of patient
so I decide to lower the standard

Light Carrier and Cruiser are still incomplete
but I want to get back to original version for a while

Models of this mod
All models are made by myself, not ported from other game
but most of the designs are from BFG: Armada and concept arts on website Lexicanum

name of the original each model based on
Corvette: Cobra
Frigate: Sword
Destroyer: Firestorm
Cruiser: Endeavor(incomplete)
Strike Cruiser: Dauntless
Light Carrier: Space Marine Strike Cruiser(incomplete)
Battle Cruiser: Lunar
Battleship: Vengeance
Dreadnought: Emperor
Super Dreadnought: Victory-class Battleship Tribune
Carrier: Space Marine Battle Barge
Flag ship: Blackstone Fortress(still trying to make a model based on Macragge's Honour)
Transport / Colonizer: Imperial Transports
Constraction / Science: mixed Goliath and AdMech Light Cruiser
Tier 1/2 Defense platform: Orbital Defense Platform
Tier 3 Defense platform: Ramilles-class Starfort
Spaceport: something from game BFG: Armada
Fighter: Fury Interceptor
Bomber: Starhawk Bomber
Landing craft: Shark Assault Boat

Here's the one he made for missiles and their ships if you want it.

Looks like there's more.

Grim Darkness Total Conversion and it is part of a bundle that also has, New planet types WH40K, Gothic ships standalone, Gothic ships NSC, New Planets WH40k new ver.

Space station 13, and also making a map for Holla Forums's server. Thread related:

do you have a better size on the first pic?

...

Do not ask for this.

What is the deal with cat races in space anyways? Is it just because they were revered by Egyptians.

Space-*animals* are pretty common in scifi overall. Spacelizards are even more common.

...

What are the limitations in this engine for fuckery?
Could you create a "missile" that's just a solid chunk of mass and 10 of the biggest engines you can create, and attack targets with relativistic impacts rather than explosives?
Does this shit have E=mc^2 built into it?

The missiles will only do the damage of the warheads. No warheads=no damage. No.

Fdev did an update stream for 2.4, it's going to launch on the 26th of Sep and the first webm is the video they showed which basically sums up whats going to happen and the new tools we're going to be given to use.
If you can't even handle 3mins of pre-rendered E:D the 2nd webm might be more your style. turn down your volume

Fdev has a talent for making things boring.

SS13 furry rp serbs

This feels wrong.

They will make this boring.

Fake news. Fdev would never put out anything that could be fun.
t.500 hours in E:D

Missiles and torps have always done shittons of dmg, just not to shields (cause shields have high physical resistance). They also do extremely high and random module dmg which is what makes them such a good counter for shieldless builds.
Stop trying to use torps on shield tanks you tart.

Wow it's fucking nothing.

Sort of on topic, but lately I've been really getting into scifi. I finished Armor, Starship Troopers(book), Clone Wars, and various Stargate series. Is there anything else I should check out? I've heard the Red Rising trilogy is good, but I'm also open to any other books, movies or shows.

That game can be a bit of a pain. I like keeping my planets as one species each, and min max what species goes where, if there bonuses. The game doesn't like me doing that.

It actually really infuriates me that the game has all these depictions of Cravers as these peaceful guys in the art when they are straight up the worst pops you can have unless you are playing as the Cravers. They fuck up planets and without the slavery bonus that will fuck up systems in the long run. Meanwhile, they don't have any of the stuff that the Zuul in SotS had to mitigate that issue, or even the stupid shit you could do like throwing ships onto the planet to give it more resources.

Well im gonna recommend Legend of the galactic heroes to you, regardless of whether you have seen it or not.

In case you start, just remember, it's a dialogue heavy show/book series and if you plan on watching the anime, it might be a good idea to check out the first anime movie first and then watch the main series, since they actually reference the movie in a way or two during the first season of the show.

TV series?
Babylon 5
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Starship Operators
The Expanse

Books?
The Culture Series by Iain M Banks.
Ringworld and other known universe books by Larry Niven
Honor Harington by webber caveat emptor, the lead character is a major mary sue and the entire series is the authors political tract. The tech and how they use it is awesome though
CIAPHAS CAIN HERO OF THE IMPERIUM if you aren't afraid of w40k. The books are a good introduction to the universe if you don't know it too well, have a ton of humor and likeable characters.

Awesome, I'll track them down when I get home. I appreciate the recommendations. Hopefully Legend of the Galactic Heroes isn't to hard to find torrents for. Older animes can be a pain to get. Only thing I may hold off on is the Expanse considering it's not over and current year Scifi can be pretty bad when it comes to shoving propoganda in their shows.

I also have severe autism.

I'd like to add to this list The irresponsible captain Tylor.

I'd imagine some games use that as inspiration, otherwise

You silly furry faggot, thats not what Bast/Bastet looked like. Just modern furry fetish crap.
Pic's related is how ancient egyptians depicted her.

Seems pretty accurate to me.

Welp, there's no cure for retardation I suppose.

She has a snout, she's certified furry by /monster/ standard :^)

Yet she lacks many features of a furry. Like the fur and claws. Nor does she have a tail.
All the modern images provided lack her religious symbols and icons.
This is a classic case of trying to classify something made long ago into modern classifications that didn't exist and weren't relevant when the thing was originally made.
There was no such thing as "furry" nor any of the modern ideas thereof around when Bast was worshipped and depicted, so she never fit a modern stereotype of furry. Only by ignoring much about how the goddess was described and depicted can she be made for fit a vague definition close to this stereotype, but in shaping your definition to fit her, you render it meaningless as it becomes so vague as to include anything.
And don't even get me started on the theories about the animal heads on egyptian gods possibly only reprisenting a symbolic connection between the god and certain animals and many of the gods having also been depicted with human heads and the animal head may in fact just have been masks the priests wore during ceremonies to invoke the connection to the sacred animals. So its not entirely impossible that egyptians assumed all their gods looked mostly like humans and simply wore masks.

Calm down autismo it was a joke, did the :^) not get that point across?

WTB enemies so far beyond the scope of our imagination we spend the majority of the gameplay groping in the darkness and retrieving husks and relics of long by gone precursors in an attempt to discern what we are facing. Not a lot of games capture the feeling of creeping despair and hopelessness very well.

Mass Effect had a good thing going with the reapers before they shat up the lore with muh ai can't get a long with organics bullshit, but I long for enemies of a lovecraftian nature/scale in a space setting.

muh nigga.
I found it kind of weird that the characters would rather kill the guy using the armor so they dont watch him suffer so much just like they did to that puppy, i was always happy that he manage to pull his shit together each time.

The Lost Fleet series was a pretty good read.

Hello *happy camper*.
Probably doesn't count since they aren't antagonists, but they're otherdimensional horrors beyond our imaginations when you look past the physical *fingers* and *bubbles*.

The first Mass Effect legitimately had me shitting myself over the reapers before subsequently ruining them because they couldn't write well enough to live up to the promise

It's been a while since i posted my screencaps, in fact i ended up downloading some star wars mods and then quitting stellaris again for a while.
Maybe one day i continue my game on Goldenbaum empire that i am turning into necrons.

Some pics of me blowing up a space rock, because due to being an underling of a peace keeper awakened empire i am unable to start wars with anyone (except them, and currently i am horribly under prepared to fight them).

Until of course, a race with a death wish declared war on our awakened sempai and us.

This is where i learned that that one mod added this one super ship which main gun is a black hole gun.
Luckily i was able to walk it off.

Or, i dunno, could be that it was just some sorta "Create an area of space that is constantly exploding" gun for all i know.

Don't worry, this isn't my main fleet, just my mass produced reinforcements making their way to the frontline and annihilating enemy attempt at rebuilding its fleet.

So Birth of the Federation night when?

And here we see our gains after that little war.

Oh yeah, and i ended up building a totally not death star, which is why i got the rebel alliance of concerned people harassing me for a while.

Also a pic or two of that star wars mod.

so their was an 8th imperial group on elite dangerous a few months ago. I stopped playing elite because the trigger on my x52 stopped working and i cant figure out how to take it apart without snapping wires to fix it.
Im back now. Does anyone know what happened to the 8th or what people are doing on elite in general?

I need to find a Cardassian that is smug enough for this image.

It's space related (since they have space levels now) but Gundam Battle Operation is getting a sequel for PS4

Never again will I ever touch that game if it's anything even close to the old one.

Sounds like you're a fag who hates giant robots actually moving around like heavy giant robots and not 60 ft tall Super Saiyans. Unless you're talking about how grindy it was since it used Bamco's "free to play, pay to keep playing" model.

Uh oh not this shit again though the fags you described are literally why /m/ is dead

He's right though.

I know, I personally get tired of the shit. Can't discuss anything apart from a few niche genres without it devolving into autistic screeching

Dropped

If that's what you want, why would you ever go for the franchise that made Gundam SEED, 00, Wing and the like. Its nothing but giant robots that move like super sayans with obnoxious angsty teen pilots. Its the series that made all this shit stereotypes of giant robots.
Maybe some MWLL will soothe that giant robot scratch of yours better?

With the exception of activating your boosters takes 2 hours of warming up to be able to fly for 3ft off the ground and being pay to win I really liked it being that way. But my main problem with the game was with being pay to win and skill not really mattering, Now I'm saying I was some newtype ace or anything but I would like to think I was a competent pilot and being able to at least hold of the enemy team with their fancy Zeek suits and such in a GM or. In fact I can name 2 times where I had the most fun and most anger simultaneously at any point in my time of playing the game.

1-The first time I remember fighting in a match and coming across these 2 enemy suits 1 being a Hygogg and the other being a Zaku II but they didn't notice me so I ambushed them and after almost a minute of mainly fighting the hygogg he starts to retreat leaving his buddy the Zaku II all alone. I turn to him with beam saber ignited and he activates his heat hawk and we clash and fight he keeps dodging my strikes and countering me and I do the same as we pull out all of the stops against each other until both our suits were heavily damaged and one wrong move could be the end. But before we could end our manly fight a Zaku I came from nowhere and bum rushed me he was maybe surprised and disappointed as well because he just stood there and refushed to help the guy kill me and a few moments before I re spawned the match ended and I was peeved.
He was really good though, before I met him I thought the zeeks just relied on their store bought toys to win matches but he was different and had a regular zaku II as a Match to my GM and even though that fight happened years ago I still smile when I remember it and hope that zeek bastard is doing alright.

If you want to envision the fight just imagine War in the pocket final fight and instead of Gundam Alex it's a regular GM and a Zaku I ambushing and killing the GM

2-Now this one happened not to long after the previous one maybe a month or so. I was in my suit and heading for the capture point where I noticed the enemy had A Char custom Zaku, A Dom and a Gelgoog my team was useless so I had to try and fight but I got slammed I could even get close, So next I re spawn and try to attack them from the hill but that also was a bad idea and I didn't even know suits could move that fast in this game but before I was destroyed I bailed out of the suit without their notice and decide to follow them. They reach the next objective and assume since I didn't come back that I gave up so they disembark their suits and that's when I strike.
I launched a few rockets at them killing them and then I went straight for the Gelgoog to hijack it right before the pilot came back I showed him how a real man uses a Gelgoog and after that was successful I started to damage the other suits so that if they did enter them they would be at a disadvantage but one of them did managed to get in their suit again before I had a chance to damage it too much and we had a short fight where he was demolished and a few seconds later I blew up because "www anti-Hijack features, If you want it pay for it www" and I left the game right afterwards. That self destruction was the straw that broke the camel's back to me with the game that I uninstalled

How the fuck can you tell that from one trailer?

Because UC and Battle Operation exist, and MWLL has shit designs.

Well considering there is a large language barrier you would have found out earlier about the anti-hijack system that exists in enemy suits. Also you'd know about how add on parts and the like worked. Fun war stories though. I don't have many because I never played much due to giving my brother my PS3 but I always loved sorting in any sort of cannon suit (GM Cannon, Zaku Cannon, Guncannon, etc.) and just using the cannons to take out the legs of enemy suits and then either keep bombarding them or let my allies get a kill.

im a little late but is star point gemeni warlords worth taking a look at?
I love fleet to fleet combat and the like so the concept sounds interesting

Been playing the early access of this.

The nostalgia couldn't be any higher.

new LotGH anime preview came out and they aren't using the shitty new manga character designs, see embed related

the faction still exists but I doubt it has control over Wheemez anymore since almost everyone stopped playing

I want more sci fi space games without aliens. In all probability we humans are the only intelligent life in the galaxy so this concept needs to be explored more.

its like they did a HD edition of the cartoon

Well got bored and looked this up again.
Basically a Space Shooter using modern sprites.
wingsofstnazaire.com/
It's free, worth a go if bored.

wait, did they finally finished it?!

I'm not really a fan of the character designs either. Not as shit looking as what I was afraid of but they look off. I think it's the lighting though. The ship designs are fucking terrible though.

Never ever.

The autist in me dislikes the switch from ships shooting beams at eachother to star wars like bolts. For a show that was surprisingly hard in its Sci Fi, this just rubs me a wrong way. I like the new imperial uniforms though.

I like the animation and the new uniforms but I dislike the character designs for Reinhard and friends because they look like jap actors playing them instead of actually being them and some of the ship designs seem weird now

...

The trailer was apparently too awesome for my firefox to handle and it crashed.
Anyways, here are my opinions.
I really appreciate it that they have gone and changed all the designs as much as they could, creating essentially another telling of the story, rather than a retelling of the old story.
The uniforms looked neat, the character designs were ok and the ship designs, like user here said overdesigned but i still liked them.
Also im pretty sure those "pew pew" lasers were railgun shots rather than lasers, which also is something i like about this, the show daring to use different weapons tech on the show, after all, the books said a lot about different weapons, like rail guns, nuclear fusion missiles, lasers, particle beam guns and neutronium bombs.

tl;dr "Fangasm"

Conquered a planet after months of heavy fighting both on the ground and in space. Minimum loses for my forces. A few fighters and 30 battalions.

But did you lose any baneblades, user?

Shit nigger what are you doing?

It's a travelling weapons emplacement. No need for fuel. I've been more focused on the war, so I haven't sent them another garrison battalion.

Dats some Orky shit right there

You guys always crack me up

So wait a minute, did you just fight the first war of armageddon as the Orks and win it?

...

Okay am I the only one who thinks the ships look rather sexualized?

They just look over designed. Like somebody took the originals and thought that it needed a bunch of useless lights. Also I always interpreted that the aerodynamic look from the old ships served a purpose for trimming the chances of being shot. In any case their overall designs look terrible.

the freedom ships look good, but i dont like the imps ships, specially their engines.

That game is surprisingly good a fleshed out for what it is.

No one is playing Elite Dangerous anymore, what changed? I just fucking talked myself into buying it.

Guys you have some shit taste. Okuda Matsuri's character designs were great and now they replaced them with the most generic bishonen anime shlock I've ever seen. They should have just gone all the way and instead of getting Katsura Tsushima and Iwao Teraoka to do character designs (both of which have never done character designing and thus is probably why their designs look like generic shit) they should have gotten Hisashi Hirai to do it so it would at least be hilariously shit.

We still are, many are just waiting for 2.4 the return update before coming back to the game which will drop on Sep 26th.
We have a discord for our faction 3hDrJD although with many out of the game we have yet to take back our local system. Will probably stay that way till I can get back into the game after a trip.

That's probably not true if anything it's that there is no actual way to travel between stars and we are all just stuck here because it takes so long to travel through space you would be long dead before you managed to get to another star.

There`s a 30 year old meme about how LOTGH ships look like dicks, glad you finally got up to date with the early 90s

So I'm having a withdrawal from not playing a good space game in a while, So does that new Battle star galactica game play

AYO HOL' UP

Allow Elmer Fudd to tell you how we could still do it with inter-generational colony ships.

Man, those university years really paid off for him.
Nowhe can hunt wascally wabbits with interplanetary kinetic kill missiles.

Decided to start up another fed game in Armada 3, holy shit Typhons can hold a lot of strike craft. Made a carrier fleet with 4 Typhons and ended up with two large swarms of Valkyrie fighters and bombers which were able to tear pirate ships to shreds in at least a single pass each group.

Thinking about buying Stellaris everything-in-one package on Steam.

I'm a big fan of Civ5 and Sins of a Solar Empire + all their mods and expansions…

Is that anything like this is? I'm trying to narrow down on what exactly Stellaris IS. I can't tell if it's just controlling planets or more? Am I moving my ships around or is that automated.

TLDR can anyone sum up Stellaris in terms of mods, content, and relation to Civ/RTS games?

Pirate it.

my personal stellaris experience:

that was enough gameplay for me

I did enjoy grabbing a separate human phenotypes mod and playing as a Commonwealth of Man style "lost colony" of white people, personally.

Not good to pay for such a DLC'd game though.

You have no aesthetic sensitivity if you believe these designs are shit. They're different to what you're used to, that's it.

The 3DCG is undeniably ugly, though.

Speaking of Stellaris, it just updated and here's what changes happened.

forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/dev-team-Čapek-update-1-8-released-checksum-3943.1044904/

Although, just on that point, it seems the mod (possibly all custom species mods) breaks ingame trait points. Though it's updated for 1.8's starting points and trait count, the actual ingame techs don't give anything to Humanoids.

...

Shit, i just checked how im exterminating them and i am quite literally being the machines from matrix here.

The original shows ships wern't about aesthetics dip. They were sleek and well designed for their purpose. These just look impractical and ugly now. There's no reason there should be so many useless lights and bulges on those ships other than to wow people who like shiny things.
Well besides the fact that they didn't actually NEED to change they could have been designed with a lot more subtlety. The original ships were grounded in reality to an extent.

Since there's LOGH in these threads I thought you'd want to know about these.

so what was the thing that got you guys into space related entertainment?

Killing bugs by lighting them on fire with a magnifying glass. Their burning exoskeleton and their cooked organs were like my burning bush, God spoke to me through them.

why cant westerns do anything right?

I've liked space stuff for as long as I remember. I started wanting to be an astronaut when I was 5 so something must have happened before then.

Toonami and Gundam wing they opened up my little eyes to space and gave me a wanderlust for it that has never been sated

...

Bump.

Let's hope this one will actually be completed. Maybe Stellaris will actually be worth playing then.

That's because OP is one huge fucking faggot.

aren't*

It's like poetry, it rhymes.

FDev astonishes me with their incompetence every time.

Are you joking?

Doesn't look as bad as it could (see manga) but it doesn't look good either. Im particularly not a fan of the new imperial ship designs, although nothing looks as good as in the original show.

It's just a ship conversion.
Still, with the size changer mod it makes for some pretty decent ship models.

A shame. Too bad LoGH is too small to have dedicated fans finishing mods left and right.
I think I prefer not having mods.

To be honest not even projects with larger dedicated fan bases are able to be completed. So many unfinished Stargate, Star Wars and Star Trek mods for example Though surprisingly quite a few Battlestar Galactica Mods

I hope you weren't trying to bully me user, But just in case I have the perfect distraction

Truly dead.

Counter Mecklinger

Mecklinger was truly a great character

He has a pretty soothing voice too.

I just realized what put me off from the get go.
The music is very generic instead of being classical music.

Is it just me, or are their heads too small?

Most likely but the thing that is bothering me most is that they don't have noses, The have face slits. The Japs have gone so long without noses that they forgot how to draw noses also the Germans look more like Japs than yang who is actually a Jap

They don't look that far off from human proportions fam. Are you sure you haven't just been watching too many loli's lately?
With the child like proportions, the head is bigger compared to the body.

...

The void in my soul left by Spore

I visited Cap Canaveral when I was younger and got hooked at that moment.

Truly FDev never stop reaching new disappointing lows.

I mean the game works in instances how else would they do it besides catching cmdrs off guard at stations?

Don't you notice that Kirchies head is at least 10-20% smaller than the examples you show?

Yang looks ok.

Is there anywhere I can download that mod without buying the game? I don't want to give paradox money ever again.

If you trust russian sites stellaris.smods.ru/

There is a decent HW2 Mod in the works

Jump gate heavily defended. 3 fighter squadrons are engaging the enemy with support from the 3 remaining destroyers. Strikefighter squadrons and bombers are heading toward the queen. fucking bugs

My main fighter is untested, but looks to be doing well enough.

My strikefighter is meant to disable the ships that are deemed too dangerous.

My bomber is meant to take out the disabled ships.

why must they tread on my dreams?

It's pretty much the opposite of sun.

God damn bugs

Anyone know how to fix the fucking god awful mouse acceleration with empyrion?

The game runs ok, but the mouse response makes it unplayable.

Uninstall Empyrion.

...

Any remotely decent space games?

Specifically ones that involve dismounted crew activities. Are there any decent ones?

I'm kind of desperate at this point.

N-NANI??

No

YES

Still not getting it.

Well allegiance is now on steam. How about that.

...

Battlefront 2(2005) now have native Multiplayer again thanks to GOG/Disney. No need to use any third party tools.

Why did you post a CYOA user? :^)

got any more of her?

...

Are there any games like X Rebirth?
After a few hundred hours of it, including the campaign twice through and creating a few smaller modded freeplay empires, I'm starting to get tired of it - or really just starting to want more than it can offer.
I've tried X3, and while it offers more ship variety (than just ONE!) the actual gameplay is really terrible and everything just feels slow and spread out and awful. There's also no sense in X3 that the economy is a real and simulated thing, as resources will just pop out of nowhere or be completely ignored by the AI - something that Rebirth also doesn't do perfectly but does much better as far as I've been able to compare.

So what other space games offer free-form space exploration, empire building and economy manipulation? I'm tentatively excited for X4, but that's not coming out until 2018 so that might as well be a hundred years from now.

Theres the game of killing yourself for having a supremely shit taste.

Besides that one, I mean.

For real, though. If you think my taste is shit, then tell me what I should play to expand my palate. What does these things better?

Elite Dangerous is kind of okay. The combat's definitely better than X Rebirth (which has shitty combat if I'm honest), but you can't build your own stations and everything is so spread out and instanced that it doesn't really feel like a universe so much as a grid of connected snowglobes you're playing inside of.
Nomanski does some things with the base building, but everything else about it is so bland or underdeveloped that it's impossible to take seriously.
I really dug Evochron for a while there, but it's really feature-light and just feels unfinished or underdesigned.
I'm really not sure what else that leaves for this specific subgenre of space sims. Kerbal Space Program maybe, if I squint really hard?

There's just something satisfying about X Rebirth with the Capital Ship Bridges mod, when you can dock inside your fleet's flagship, stand on the bridge surrounded by those fuckhuge windows and your crew around you, and give orders to the fleet right from there, watching the battle unfold like a fucking admiral. Seeing my hard-earned stations glinting in the distance as I crush the universe under the two-toed boot of military might and capitalism. It's glorious.
I just want a game that does all of this without feeling so fucking janky. I'd like AI that doesn't fly in retarded circles or get "stuck" because there's two asteroids within 1km on either side. I'd like newtonian physics rather than thick soupspace. I'd like engagements with weaponry that can span 10+km rather than the X-series method of "don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes through their ships' windows".
You know, like X Rebirth - but better. What's out there that does this? And don't say Shekel Shillizen because while it promises stuff like this, even me, ShitTaste McGee, can tell that's a scam from a mile away.

Rudolph would have been displeased by the amount of genetic contamination in your empire.

X always had really short weapon ranges.
Also, with realistic ranges you wouldn't be seeing shit from your bridge.

I haven't been able to play E:D over the update but it's just been getting worse and worse.
It's starting to look like one of their most botched updates yet and a lot of players are starting to get super tired of it. Hopefully they'll get their shit together before the Fdev Expo coming up in a week or two.

For the last six months I've been conflicted on if I should feel happy or ripped off that I bought the all-future-expansions thing during the crowd funding phase.
On the one hand I might save money in the long run by not having to buy the updates individually, but on the other hand I'm still getting disappointed every update.

Fdev have promised after the Thargoids they will go back and fix "core features" and more will be announced at the expo.
I'm gonna go with you'll be saving money in the long run when the game is actually good.
although SC might be done by the time it is

I may have only put in about 100 hours of X3, but you seem to have put considerably less.

Wild Sins of a Solar Empire mod spotted, same guys that made Armada 3.
It's also Trek

nevar forgetti

That after mission report slayed me.

This remind me plot of Alien: Resurrection.

I've been watching a lot of planetes lately, is there a space sim like Elite that isn't set in the really far future?
I'd kind of like to play a slightly more grounded space sim closer to our current technology, but also don't want a boring ass management game where I can't explore

KSP

Fuck now I want to recreate everything from the show in KSP.
Thanks user.

Been there already, too much grind, way too much management

you can quite easily mod out the management
and when did kerbal space program have grind, it's a sandbox.

Yeah but sandbox then offers you no progression at all.
You just make something with all the most powerful shit, get in space, land on any planet and you're done.

There's no game there.

There is a campaign mode.
and then a full on campaign expansion with a completely different and more challenging solar system with some mod packs.

That's exactly what I'm saying, the campaign mode is too grindy and the sandbox offers none of the fun of the campaign.

It's just not really what I'm looking for.

First 5 or so missions of Nexus the jupiter incident.

Set goals, user, and install the ScanSat, Resource, Infernal Robotics and KAS mods.

Possible goals - playing with communications networks on:
1. Establish unmanned satellite network throughout Kerbal system.
2. Send ScanSats to all major rocky bodies and scan them for resources and ideal landing sites.
3. (Autism Mode) Build bases on all major rocky bodies, mine and process resources to refuel/repair your ship, and return your Crew home while leaving operational infrastructure behind.
4. (Nightmare Mode) Land crew on Eve, take soil samples, and return them to Kerbin.

Not much to see here honestly. Ship models will be pretty though.

Do you want to be *FRIENDS*?

Star Control 2 is even today one of best games ever. There is a version available somewhere online for free with 1GB of live action and voice animation.

They won't add anything that doesn't fit their planned Axanar/TOS aesthetic, so no "we wuz Klingons n sheeit" ships hopefully. They managed to make the SHITscovery look closer to the original Ralph McQuarrie concept art that got butchered by the show.

I dunno man the game just isn't that much fun for me and requires waaaaay too much autism to become enjoyable.
I like doing orbital encounters as much as the next guy but apart from that there's not much I wanna do in it.

That game was a labour of love. The devs put in massive amounts of unpaid overtime to get it done and bug-free before their shitty deadline to make it reflect their vision and it shows.
Then accolade had the gall to rip the franchise away from toys for bob when they asked for more time and funding for SC3. TfB is now eternally condemned to make movie license and mobile games.

Speaking of Elite, if any of you play it, Help the 8th on wheemez, we got booted out of power by what i assume was redditors

Elite Dangerous always online, no offline mode, is shit.

So its just MMO?

Not really. They combine the worst aspects of online and offline games while leaving out the good aspects.

There's no story, no campaign, no deep NPC dialogue or premade quests anything like that. Things a good singleplayer space game would have.

But there's also no guilds/corps, no player economy, no player owned bases or blockades or anything like that. Things a good multiplayer space game would have.

Instead it's just plain shallow and shitty. Everything's randomly generated generic shit, player interaction is super limited because whales hate EVE Online and any good mechanics are decried as being too much like EVE Online. There's no player economy because "it would support Chinese gold farmers". The whole thing is just unbelievably shallow.

The only good parts of ED from each side, are for the singleplayer aspect the tutorial scenarios because those actually have a bit of story and background and scripted situations, and for the multiplayer aspect suicide eagling (don't know if it works anymore) because griefing people is the only entertaining multiplayer interaction the game has.

It's a shitty game made by people who've been out of the industry for decades and missed the golden decade (98-08) completely, so they think the simple mechanics of the original Elite games are still ok and have completely missed out on lessons and examples from all the space games and MMOs that have come out since then. It looks pretty and sounds amazing and even the basic gameplay is ok (albeit really simple and hampered by the way ships are designed) but the overall design comes together to make a shallow and uncompelling sandbox. Also I'm pretty sure the visual quality has gone down over time because when I look back at the few beta screenshots I took I swear they look better than the game does today. But that could just be in my head, I don't know.

If you want a good singleplayer space game you'd be better off playing that slav space game The Precursors, which while tiny in scope in comparison, actually has a proper campaign and a full vertical slice of content from space to planetside. If you want a good space MMO you'd be better off playing EVE Online.

do you have your preorders ready, anons?!

No. It looks casualized.

Welp, you're wrong by about four hours.
They've announced guilds, with carriers you can buy to dock in at their expo. Coming Q1 2018, and free to everyone who owns horizons, apparently. Still gonna be shit, probably.

really? in what?

Why would I buy any X game after Rebirth?

Why would I buy any X game since I own X, 2, 3, and TC?

Is Empyrion: Galactic Survival any fun?

X4 is supposed to be more like 3 and less like Rebirth. Kind of where the name comes from, Rebirth was supposed to be something different.

"Preorders" aside, even if X4 is good it's not something you should be touching before it gets patched and probably modded for like a year.

Is that why all this xeno bullshit is half-assed, so they can half-ass bigger player ships? I was gonna get mad about the expected release time, still a little, but then I remembered its fucking October.

I've had a good bit of fun with it. Needs more everything, tonne of problems. But was damn comfy and surprisingly enjoyable

I'm still right until Frontier delivers a working implementation of the feature. Remember multicrew? Flat out doesn't do anything, you just get a "no ships found" message as soon as you press any of the search buttons. Like, it doesn't even search. It's just flat out broken.

Even if a guild feature is added, and it actually isn't just a fake placebo UI thing like multicrew, it may still be total garbage like powerplay and engineers.

they turned multi-crew off because it was causing game-breaking bugs that were not fixable by reseting the game, essentially softlocking it

I still insist you try and see if it helps first.

Yeah that's what I'm feeling too. I want to say it's "barebones" but it looks surprisingly complex and seems to have 1000x what other games of the same kind have.

Why the fuck are 80% of the images in this thread 404

They're not going to be bigger player ships, they're probably just going to be ship-shaped stations you can drop in a system, and teleport to other systems if you're high enough in the clan hierarchy.

Multicrew was a working thing, fun even, when I tried it a bit after it released. But it certainly was one of those "fun with friends XDDDDD" situations, because if you got a ship filled with hotmicing Albanian goatfuckers, you'd have no fun, or if you got a ship with no SLFs and no turreted weapons, you'd also not have fun. I guess they turned it off or some shit, but I haven't tried playing it in a while, mostly because I don't want to let niggers touch my Anaconda.

I'm so fucking

ANGRY

Some dickwipe youtuber just reviewed Aurora 4X. The only people allowed to play that is myself, my friends, you guys, cool people I meet, and the people on their developer forums. Everyone else should

FUCK OFF

Was it mandalore?

Yes. Fuck that guy. Now that he's made a video normalfags will RUIN IT.

That video is months old, m8.

Then that makes it even worse!!

I only saw the thumbnail when looking for gameplay strats.

Also he's /ourguy/, lots of little Holla Forums references in his videos.

It's a two month old video.
Have normalfags ruined the game yet?

-_-

Stop

user no

...

I will now disregard your opinion forever.

...

Really, nigger?

...

Wow…. how ruined was the game when a bunch of youtubers started posting videos on it in 2015? I bet you weren't even playing it until at least 2016!

What was the intended feature of modified mission payouts? Does it have to do with rank and affiliation?

I didn't do a search on it to youtube until just now. Been playing it since 2013

The fucking demo for this game.

REUNION OR TERRAN CONFLICT AND WHAT MODS

Specifically spess gaymen? A copy of Freespace 2 from a vidya mag. Blew my fucking mind back then.
Otherwise Ive been reading spess themed sci-fi since Ive been 10 or some shit because my dad had a sizeable collection of it.

Albion Prelude and Litcubes

Same question but about starsector - developments still going? What a mods require?

Youve gotta be the stupidest nigger on the block.
You do realize that you can customize the difficulty of the campaign down to individual percentages of basically everything?
Dont like the grind for cash? Crank up the cash gains up to 1000%. Now instead of 10 missions you only have to do 1.
Dont like the grind for science? Triple the science output.
Theres even more shit like custom barn kit and contract configurator mods that allow you to customize difficulty on the fly.

Sidestick or centerstick?

Sidestick ergonomic master race represent, centerstick plebs eat shit

It only costs $100 to make a basic one, pleb.

Mouse and keyboard :^)

...

It's dead jim.

Its a good time actually. Its needs some work, but its in alpha.

Pic is really old and the game looks much better now.

This happens every update
Things might change with the squadron and proper guild stuff but that's not slated till fucking Q4 2018.
Krait looks cool though.

That's a cool looking, but absolutely retarded design for a spaceship.

It's supposedly the first Alliance co funded/designed ship and one of a few for the faction that are in development (might mean some new cap ship designs). Clearly Fdev wanted to do something very different from the Imperial and Federal flagships.

I mean, I take the most issue with the wing mounted engines. It's dumb putting essential thrusters on what is basically a weak point in the hull/armor. Imps do the same thing, but their wings look a lot more stable. Feds also have wings, but theirs are non-essential for spaceflight.
